Let's turn now to action news reporter Caroline Goggin,
who is live in South Philadelphia tonight,
where she watched the Sixers game with fans,
and they definitely liked what they saw.
Caroline, huh?
Yeah, Rick, they were so excited.
These fans went wild in the final seconds of the game.
This is exactly what Philly sports fans needed.
It was a really rough couple of weeks,
and now there are a lot of expectations for the Sixers team
as the season gets underway.
In the final seconds, these fans chanted.
Ready to celebrate as the Sixers won their first game of the season
against the New York Knicks with their new look team.
We got LeBron, we got David Brown, and we just won the first game!
Seeing the team working so well together in the first game,
like this is setting up the season for such success.
I'm so excited.
So were all of these fans
who filled Stateside Live for a fan fest tonight,
ready to look past the woes of being a Philadelphia sports fan lately.
Honestly, after this long week, couple weeks, we needed this W so bad.
This is great for the city. Everybody's going to be happy.
And optimistic.
These fans say there are a lot of expectations
for this team as the season gets underway.
We looked good the first game,
just so we could keep it up and sit in for the season.
The Sixers are a championship contender for the first time in my life.
Hope's are high here
in South Philly tonight.
These fans want to be playing the song in the months to come.
The Sixers will be back here at home for game two of the regular season
on Thursday night against the Cavs at 7 o'clock.
We're live tonight in South Philadelphia.
I'm Caroline Goggin, Channel 6 Action News.
All right, Caroline, thank you.
