A dramatic crash in Boston's Jamaica Plain section left a car suspended about 10 feet off the ground after the driver crashed through two fences and the vehicle went airborne before slamming into a home.
I'm Lisa Pappas, on scene in Jamaica Plain,
where a car went airborne before crashing into the side of this home.
This is something you don't see every day.
It looked like a movie scene or something.
A car suspended about 10 feet in the air after crashing
into this home on Glen Road in Jamaica Plain Monday afternoon.
I'm sitting out front of my building talking to this lady
and heard like a big boom!
It sounded to me like a truck lost a bunch of ladders off the back
or something, and my dog was freaking out.
But then I didn't really think anything of it until all
the emergency vehicles started showing up.
Neighbors heard the crash
but didn't expect to see this when they came out.
It's crazy because the car is like levitated
in between the driveway and the house.
The car crashed into two fences before going airborne
into the second floor of this home.
Came up the street like, oh shoot,
this dude then ran into the parking lot,
ripped the fence down, ran through the parking lot
and then made a drive-thru into the lady's house.
Boston Fire says two people were in the car at the time.
The EMS responded, and with their assistance,
we removed two victims from the vehicle suffering from minor injuries.
One actually was able to walk out of the vehicle.
How did they walk out with the car suspended like that?
It was shored up, like I said, from the bottom and on the sides.
It was a process to remove this car as it was teetering off this wall.
Luckily, the woman who was inside this home wasn't hurt.
That's her office that the car went into,
and she was in there earlier today,
So she was like just so thankful that nobody was in the room
and that the people in the car are okay.
The cause of this crash is still under investigation,
but the deputy fire chief believes speed was likely a factor here.
