Here at American Family Field for game one or game two,
but we also know a lot of us are still looking
for places to go and watch the games,
whether that be when they're played here at home or away in Florida.
So we want to highlight some of these really exciting watch parties
that are going to be taking place these next couple of days.
Want to go ahead and bring in Julian Kegel joining us from Kegel's Inn
because you guys are really planning some pretty cool festivities.
What do you have in store for us?
Well, we're coming off of the bootstraps of Milwaukee Oktoberfest down
at the Summerfest Grounds and we cleaned up
and we're ready to just throw and continuing a big party.
So right behind us,
we're going to put a 25 foot big screen right in the beer garden
and be sort of like the West Allis Central watch party for the area.
Yeah, I love this. One, you're so close to the ballpark,
so you kind of almost feel like you're a part of that atmosphere.
But I also just think there's something
so special about watching baseball with other fans.
Can I talk about that community vibe you're going
to be helping create here with these parties?
Yeah, you know, I'm sitting at a beer garden table,
and the essence of a beer garden table is to come
and meet strangers and then leave as friends.
and this is an opportunity for the entire city
of West Allis to get here,
pull up a chair, meet people that are rooting for a united cause.
I mean, even going to a gas station in this area,
you can just feel the buzz
and we just can't wait to hear the fireworks
from the stadium right down the road
and celebrate alongside with them.
You're so right about being able to feel the buzz.
You know the city's so excited for this.
I joked because I was walking my dog when
the Brewers clinched going to the World Series with that final out,
and I knew that's what had happened
because for the first time ever in my neighborhood,
people were shouting and they were so excited,
and that's the vibe throughout not just Milwaukee,
but really I think all of southeastern Wisconsin right now,
people so excited for this opportunity.
So I love that you're hosting these watch parties, and we should note,
you're going to do this for every game
of the World Series, is that right?
well let's hope it's only four
but yeah that's the idea um you know kegels in is going to be
sort of central uh in the city
for this giant screen uh you know beer garden menu we've got
a special beer that's being uh unveiled called Brewer Brawl
and you know brats and cheese curds
and pretzels and it couldn't just get more lively uh
this is kind of why you know what it's like the
same food we've got at the ballpark just here
at kegels in and we've been doing it for over 100
years. So give us the details here
because I imagine a lot of people are going to want to
come on by. Do we need to get a ticket?
Is there a cost to attend? Give me kind of all the details
there. Yeah, so we did offer reservations and those are all full,
but we're going to have plenty
of seating. I'm sorry, plenty of standing room only space.
We've got the entire 59th Street
plus like the apron of the restaurant.
This screen is going to be big enough. You should
be able to see it all the way uh to Liberty Heights Park
um so come one come all uh bring a
chair uh we'll have a whole beer garden uh a menu
for like um for the extras the brat on a bun
and the beer the walk-up stuff if you've got
a reservation you're in luck you've got the best
seat in the house but we're not going to exclude you
if you show up no i i love that the reservations
are sold out though because i think it just tells you how excited
this area is for the first World
Series appearance in 44 years for the potential
of bringing you know the World Series championship
home for the first time ever how are you feeling
are you a big Brewers fan well we've been of
course yeah i mean i i love playing uh sports myself
and when you see the city is sort of up
well with this you know almost make it
in the last five years the Brewers just we know we've got
something and i think putting
this on the world stage gives Milwaukee credit to doing things the a
little bit the hard way you know maybe not having the best payroll
but always doing things better
with more hearts and more community vibes
and a really uh a value orientated city and that is
coming through on a world stage and we're just
so proud that the community is you know thriving for
this uh everybody benefits with this uh
with this event yes oh absolutely no i was uh watching from
some of the interviews we did during the NLCS
and I thought this one Brewers fan put it so well when
really describing the Dodgers too
but she was saying yes you can buy players which is what
the Dodgers do but you can't buy heart
and I think that's what the Brewers have on their side this
team seems unstoppable and yes we absolutely hope
that they are unstoppable through the World Series
that we can bring it home
and I imagine maybe some people will be coming out to Kegels Inn for the
first time ever for some of these watch parties tell me
a little bit more about your place
yeah uh so if anybody has never been here we
are 102 year old uh german speakeasy my great grandpa
started brewing beer in the basement of this building right here
and the next door uh facility
was a wine supply uh shop
and this is right during the height of prohibition so not only did we
survive prohibition and all the wars
and the anti-german sentiment but the beer gardens in
the 2000s really helped raise this attitude
of just let's get together let's drink a beer in the
city uh among these tables Kegels Inn still has
these authentic murals that are almost 100 years
old uh you know everything's original from the the floors
to the tables to the bar to the barbacks
the ceilings the painted murals it's a it's
an institution that is so uh so rare in this country
and we're just so proud to be the caretakers of it.
Yeah, I love that.
So much history there as we talk about hopefully
the Brewers making some history
in these upcoming days.
I think it's the perfect place to go and watch some World Series games.
So for anybody joining us right now, Julian,
what again do we need to know about your watch parties?
Yeah, bring a chair.
There might not be room for tables,
but we're going to try our best to serve you.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,
and I think that having a big crowd
is just going to send the world message
that Milwaukee is here to play ball.
Yes, we absolutely are.
Do you have any predictions?
Are you going for the sweep,
or what do you think is going to kind of be the outcome here?
Brewers in four.
Brewers in four.
We love to hear it, and I know
the city would absolutely love to see it.
Again, so excited for Friday.
Game one, you can go, if you don't have tickets,
go to Kegels Inn and enjoy the game there.
Julian, thank you so much for joining us here on Fox 6 Now.
We appreciate it.
Thanks for having us.
Of course.
I can't wait to see the giant screen there
and the place just absolutely packed in with Brewers fans.
