Hey Laurinia, thankfully all three are stable
and expected to make a full recovery.
These are three people who dedicated their time to making the community
here safer and they're now at home recovering from gunshot wounds.
Chicago police say four men were leaving a building here
in the 4000 block of West 26th Street when a white sedan pulled up
on Friday night and someone inside opened fire.
The shooter, according to police, fled south on Pulaski Road.
Today, New Life Center says three members
of its team were among those victims.
Two staff members
and a peacekeeper were shot outside its offices near 26th and Pulaski
The shooting happened just hours after they had been serving
alongside young people and packing meals for families in need.
In a message to the community, the pastor says his heart is heavy,
but he refuses to let this shooting define their work
We're so grateful to God that none of the bullets hit vital organs
Our team is recovering.
They wanted you to know how much they appreciate your prayers.
So continue to pray for them, for their families,
continue to pray for peace in our city
These types of shootings tend to escalate
and we're praying specifically for the
little village community
Again, the organization says all three
are expected to be okay and make a full recovery.
So far, police have not announced any arrests in
this case. We do know local leaders are planning
a peace march here in the coming days in light of
all the violence here in Little Village.
