A 15-year-old boy was hit and killed
while riding a scooter in Brevard County,
and now a 19-year-old suspect
who allegedly ran from the scene is charged in his death.
Fox 35's Esther Bauer hearing from the family
who say the news is helping during this difficult time.
It's still very hard for this family to drive
by this memorial knowing what happened to Isaiah.
Now this news is also a challenge to process,
knowing how another teen allegedly hit him and left him there.
who can bring him back.
Losing Isaiah shattered the Irizarry family forever.
Now he's in heaven.
So now this individual is incarcerated
and we still don't have Isaiah back.
So it's a lose-lose for everyone.
Today's arrest by the Florida Highway Patrol
is bittersweet for Deanna Irizarry.
Today brings us a little bit of justice,
a little bit of closure, and now we follow it through.
Troopers followed through on this case for nearly five months,
pulling cell phone data surveillance from businesses
in the area DNA from the damaged car
all building a case against him here
on State versus Aiden Perry. 19-year-old Aiden Perry was
allegedly driving the car that killed Isaiah
on his scooter he never stopped but told troopers
Mr. Perry spontaneously uttered that he had hit
a deer his lawyer argued on Tuesday his client had
no idea he hit a person this was a dark unlit roadway
but the judge didn't buy it i'm sorry
we disagree so much on this case Perry
is now facing several charges including leaving the
scene of a crash involving death leaving the scene
of a crash involving property damage and failing
to report the crash involving death Deanna hopes Isaiah's death can
be a warning for others they
have to stop it doesn't matter if they're scared
or drinking and driving or anything even if you
think you hit a deer you have
to stop she says Isaiah could have had medical attention sooner
had the driver stopped to help.
Justice needs to be served because he did not deserve to end his
life that way. Perry was given a $51,000 bond
and is not allowed to contact the victim's family
going forward. And the suspect's next court date is November 17th.
Deanna says she is thankful to
everyone in the community that is praying for them
and also supporting the family and for the
troopers that built this case.
