Early voting began over the weekend
as the midterm elections draw closer.
22 News reporter Aretha Odaya spoke
with a local city clerk about what to look out for this season.
Yeah, that's right. Saturday,
October 17th is when early in-person voting started,
continuing through Friday, October 30th.
Across the state, people are taking advantage of early
voting. The Secretary of State's office says over
a million ballots have already been mailed.
There is also a large number of inactive voters.
Some residents did not return their city census,
so those folks will just have to show a form
of identification when they go to vote.
It's been a very busy season for the city clerk's office in Holyoke.
29,000 people are registered to vote there, and there's three ballots.
There is nine ballot questions.
Here in Holyoke, our ballots are bilingual,
so we actually have three ballots this year,
which is, you know, more than I've ever seen.
You know, read up, research on the questions prior
to going to the voting places.
Now be on the lookout to make sure you received that red booklet
in the mail, which breaks down all voter information.
As for deadlines, Saturday,
October 24th is the last day to register to vote.
And then Tuesday, the 27th at 5 p.m. is the last day
to request a mail-in ballot.
Working for you, Reta Odaya, 22 News.
