Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video discusses how signing Andre Drummond to replace Mitchell Robinson provides the New York Knicks with a strategic \"X-factor.\" While some view him as a downgrade, the analysis argues that Drummond's elite rebounding, improved passing, and fit within Mike Brown's offensive system actually unlock new dimensions for the team's playstyle.
This is going to unlock the Knicks in a huge way,
as everyone has been sleeping on Mike
Brown and the Knicks' plans for Andre Drummond,
who the Knicks signed to replace Mitchell
Robinson.
And though, yes, in a lot of ways,
Drummond is viewed as a downgrade, the Knicks' rebounding
is not going to be impacted negatively at all
by still having Josh Hart and other great
rebounders, and also the fact
that Andre Drummond very much does have a claim to still be a
top-five rebounder in the NBA, and a better rebounder,
at least defensively, than Mitchell
Robinson but it goes further than that it's
not just that is the only change that Robinson is a
better offensive rebounder than Drummond Drummond
also it's not just about the fact that he'll hit
a corner three once in a while it goes deeper offensively
and when you have an offensive head
coach like Mike Brown when you have a guy
who right now this team is based on their spread threes
Andre Drummond fits with what the Knicks are doing
so much better and we're going to break all that down

And guys, diving into the news today,
Andre Drummond is unlocking the Knicks
as he gives them a brand new X Factor for this team.
Now, Drummond, this man is coming off
of a season where there's been a lot of questions
surrounding what it's going to look like comparatively since last year
in only around 19 minutes of action.
he actually did put up some of the best rebound numbers
in the league he was in the top four
percent of rebounding
while only playing 19 minutes he was getting 5.3 defensive rebounds
which is in the top seven percent he
was in the top two percent of all offensive rebounds and no
not Mitchell Robinson
but still does add that while shooting very nicely from three as well
when we look at Drummond's numbers across the board this is a man
who did shoot well from three
35% which is over the league average
and overall does all the things that you need him to do but
it goes even further than that because we
also see that this man's rebounding wins possessions
and while Towns can rest and also his shot blocking is there
and then even better than that
we see how good he's looked this preseason
and honestly why fans can be excited because the
screens are better he is such a good communicator
and guys Andre Drummond gives the Knicks 48 minutes
when you mix with Towns of great passing out of the big man spot
which changes the way the Knicks
can play and will make their offense an offense
that in a game against Philadelphia in the playoffs
had the most threes in playoff history he makes
that offense even better you know what ruins a
great outfit fast an old beat-up belt
that doesn't fit right most guys are still wearing belts with
stretched out holes that either pinch your waist
or sag and throw off your whole look that's why
i'm excited to have an Anson Belt
and buckle as the sponsor of today's video instead of holes Anson
uses a micro adjustable track system with quarter inch increments
so your belt fits perfectly every
single time and once you experience that kind of fit
and comfort trust me you'll never want to wear
a regular belt again i've been wearing mine non-stop
and honestly it's the best belt i've
ever owned once you try it trust me you'll never go back
to your old belts again and if you're
wondering why you should trust them this is a company that's
so proudly family owned and
operated has earned over 40 000 five star reviews
and backs their belts with a lifetime guarantee
on functionality they stand behind every product they make
and once you get one you will know why
just like James B right here
who i had a very similar response to as well when i saw that he
mentioned it took him a second to figure out how
to use the clasp tighten it and loosen it but once
he did he loved the belt
and not having visible holes i felt the same way and as he said the
customer service is excellent he cut the belt too short
and they sent him a different one a new belt
free of charge now that is some Anson Belt service right there
and guys here's the best part because

So look, looking at Andre Drummond
and where he is with the Knicks right now,
we do see that he's certainly a steal for his contract.
The man who said he wasn't going to take the minimum
but ended up did taking that minimum
because he's making $3 million with a cap of $2,045,000.
Honestly, it's a great deal.
Now, he is showing more than rebounding as well for this Knicks team.
We see a guy in Drummond who,
even against Toronto in the preseason finale,
showed he's all over the place.
He's putting up 14 points, getting 8 rebounds,
getting 4 assists, all in 15 minutes of action.
I don't know why that's a photo of Mikal Bridges,
but overall, the passing has been the big thing here.
now Drummond showed that he can pass
the ball really well out of the high post and isn't afraid
to dribble and drive Mitchell Robinson was not good
at either of those things he wasn't passing
well out of the high post and he would never put
the ball on the floor Drummond does he has no
problem doing that and Drummond
because he's got that vision one thing that we saw Mitch completely
switch out from year one to year eight with the Knicks
was that he went from every time he would
get an offensive rebound when he
was young he would instantly just try to put the ball right
back up he would never kick the ball back out he would just try
to go through people and sometimes
it worked sometimes it didn't
then Robinson kind of changed his style up a little bit he would get
the offensive rebound and never look
to shoot he would only look to pass out the thing with Drummond
is that he is so good at collecting offensive rebounds
and kicking the ball out very quickly
it's an ability Towns has as well that we have seen
and the highest percentage of open threes
in basketball especially from the corners does come
when you're pulling down an offensive rebound
because usually the defense collapses to grab
the ball one guy starts to leak out for an outlet pass
maybe two guys do if you're really trying to run
in transition and create a fast break attempt
and because of that it leaves
the corners unguarded it leaves the wings some or the top of
the key depending on where the ball it goes
for the rebound if it goes up to the side the outlet
pass is going to be more towards your defensive top of the key
but if it is in the middle usually
going to go to whatever your dominant hand side
is for instance i'm a righty i'd go to the right
out of the court call for the outlet pass
but because of that it will leave a weak spot open
a spot where the Knicks can get a kick out three
to guys like Jalen Brunson OG Anunoby Mikal Bridges Josh
Hart all of whom shot really well from three
the past season Karl-Anthony Towns he's on the floor
with Drummond he's out on the perimeter
who's an excellent three-point shooter shot 45.6 percent
from three in the playoffs the same thing happens
when we look at really the rest of the team Deuce
Shad HubSpot all these guys can hit threes
also everyone in the Knicks rotation can hit threes
I mean Jose Alvarado out of everyone
in the 10-man rotation replacing Mitch Drummond I believe
Alvarado had the worst percentage
from three last season he shot like 34 percent which isn't even
terrible for your worst shooter now Josh Hart did say
on the Roommates podcast saying that Drummond
is a way better passer than I thought he was he
also said he's a lot lighter on his feet than he
thought well Mike Brown said his communication right now
is unbelievable Drummond is going in
there and being a veteran being a veteran
on a championship team meshing right in he said he
thought it would be tough to come into a team
that he didn't really know everyone it was mainly a
returning group but he said he felt integrated right away
the Knicks were great the teammate
vibes were great and everyone seemed
to absolutely love what he was able to do there the passing
upside does change things for the Knicks I mean he
finds guards off screen he moves the ball out of
the pocket he rewards the cutters
and it keeps bench possessions connected and Drummond can play
from the high post the exact same way
that Karl-Anthony Towns likes to play from the high post
and Mike Brown likes to have Towns at the high post all
of this adds up really really well for
Andre Drummond it really does it changes the way
that the Knicks are going to be able to go about
things which is one of the reasons why you really have
to like what we're seeing for Andre Drummond
overall again the numbers show he's good everywhere
the one knock in his game is true shooting he's
weirdly bad under the rim that is certainly
a problem that we do have to look at but at the
same time the Knicks couldn't let Drummond be himself
and they can win that style with his
kickouts with that way that he plays
and now it's just about the next couple of tests that he's going
to face repeating the regular season passing throughout
and being able to dish the ball and
get a couple assists tonight
while finishing efficiently near the basket which has plagued
him throughout his career
and also staying disciplined in coverage his defense has gotten
better the rebounding is still excellent again 19 minutes per game
and he was getting nine rebounds
the man is still one of the best rebounders minute
for minute in the sport today people don't realize
how good Andre Drummond is you think
that because oh well Mitchell Robinson was better and is better
which he is I'm not sitting here arguing that that it's a massive loss
but in the grand scheme of
things when the Knicks couldn't even play Mitch sometimes
in the playoffs they don't have to worry
about that with Drummond he shot 60 percent
from free throw from the free throw line he learned at
his shoot Drummond was always my baseline
for when I would get mad at Mitch not being able to hit his
free throws and saying Drummond at one point
was the worst free throw shooter we'd ever seen and
then he fixed it Mitch could have as well
and hopefully Mitch does I'm still rooting for Mitch
of course but Drummond or when Brunson
was talking about Drummond he said he's not coming in to be
Mitch he's coming in to be himself and well I like
who Drummond's going to come in to be I've
wanted Drummond on the Knicks for a while I'm
so happy that a New Yorker as well and Drummond is
on the team so what do you guys think can he
be the x factor comment down below absolutely he's a
perfect bench fit comment B if you find it promising
but you're not ready to say yes or
comment C rebounding alone is not gonna be enough he's got
to do all the other stuff i want to hear
from you guys let me know in the comments like
this video subscribe turn on post notifications
have a great day and let's go watch the Knicks win game one
of this year zero and zero once again
just where we like it
