Mesa company helping give building materials new life

A Valley company is helping keep usable building materials out of the landfill. Irene Snyder is at the Stardust Building Supplies to show you how buying and donating salvaged materials can stretch your budget. If you're remodeling your home, this is a great place to come to get some new cabinets, some new finishes like windows, all those kinds of things. They have just about everything you can think of here at Stardust. So we have Karen today to tell us a little bit about it. So Karen, what different types of things do you have here? I see we have some beautiful cabinetry behind you. We have just about everything you'd need if you were remodeling your kitchen or bathroom or other places in your home. You can find it here at Stardust. And then just tell us some of the different things that you have. Well cabinet sets in particular that were removed, gently salvaged from other people's homes. You can find cabinet sets that are a huge discount to what you'd pay at a regular retail store. example, this set here plus the dishwasher is about $2,325. You'd pay over $4,500 at a regular retail store for those items. Why do you think it's so important that people come and they resell these things to use if they're not, they don't end up in landfills? I think it's really important because it helps keep our environment safer and cleaner. It keeps these usable materials out of the landfill. It also helps folks because it's less expensive and it's really an environmentally conscious way to remodel your home. And how can people do this? Do they just drop it off? Can you pick it up? How does that work? If they want to donate to us, they can use our deconstruction service where we'll remove the usable material prior to remodel. We'll also pick up the items from their home and they can drop it off at either location in Mesa or Glendale. And you also have a big conference coming up in November too. Tell us about that. We do. Stardust is hosting the annual Build Reuse Conference. It's a national conference that brings people together who are interested in building material reuse and it's here in Phoenix in November 18th and 19th. If people are interested in learning about the conference, they can go to buildreuse.org. And tell us where you're located too. We are located in Mesa at 1720 West Broadway Road and also in Glendale at 5150 West Northern. Thank you so much for your time today, Karen. We really appreciate it. We'll send it back to you guys.
