Get ready for game one. A different kind
of a rivalry is brewing off the field.
Tampa Bay is about to take on a team literally named the Brewers,
but our craft beer scene has a message for Milwaukee.
So that's where we start with some fighting words.
Fox 13's Ariel Pacencia is live in St. Pete. Hi there, Ariel.
All kidding aside here, I know these local tap rooms
are pouring out plenty of hometown pride,
especially this week and tonight, I know.
That's right, Mark. And look,
Milwaukee's beer reputation is well documented.
I mean, there's a reason they call it the beer capital of the world.
But tonight, we are talking about our local breweries,
because they've got one heck of a story to tell themselves.
We're checking the amount of sugar.
It takes time, hard work, and the right ingredients to brew a winner.
So we went last minute, had a blast. I lost my voice last night.
Whether we're talking beer or a World Series-bound baseball team.
I called the Yandy home run early on, but then again, so did he, so.
And the reality of the Rays' next opponent set
in pretty quickly for St. Pete Breweries.
She's like, well, they're the brewers, right?
I was like, oh yeah, I guess that's a good point.
Okay, look, knowing the competition...
I mean, it is the name of the team for a reason.
...is all part of the game plan.
Wisconsin's known for their beer drinkers, so I mean...
But our local tap rooms aren't intimidated.
There are lots of great breweries around the state,
but there are more of them in the greater Tampa Bay area,
and I think we're doing absolutely fantastic.
It's a tight-knit group of breweries near the Trop,
with each one doing things their own way.
From Pilsners to IPAs to Imperial Stouts, we have some
of the best Imperial Stouts in the world here in Tampa Bay,
which is not necessarily something
that people would think of right away.
But lagers, yeah, we got them. We got them beat. We can take it.
Forget Miller and Wisconsin's lager reputation,
St. Pete has something Milwaukee can't bottle up.
I think this is the perfect beer drinking weather,
and this is where everyone in Milwaukee is going
to want to be for the next six to eight months.
Because sunshine is always on tap.
Right now, it's incredible outside.
People can actually wear shorts.
Like, get out of here, man.
They're going to wish they played all seven games here
in St. Pete, not in Milwaukee.
Yeah, these breweries are expecting to be pretty busy,
especially come Monday night.
And to be clear, they want the Rays to win on the field, right?
They want to get that W, no doubt.
But Mark, they said, look, if there
are any Milwaukee fans who want to come get a taste
of what Tampa Bay beer is like,
they'd be happy to pour them a cold one.
I would say so, where they're going to have plenty of chance
for sure. And I love what you mentioned about this
community with our breweries, Ariel,
because I know they're all tight-knit. Even though they're competitors,
they still all work together, which is a really special
story. So it's going to be a fun week and a half
or so, for sure. Ariel Pacencia, live in
St. Pete.
