Ben Neighbors explains that if a coach wonders whether they are undercharging, they almost certainly are. He argues that the ability to question your pricing stems from a confidence in your results. To increase rates, coaches must move beyond delivering quality service and begin actively marketing their success stories and integrating those results into their sales process to shift buyer perception.
What's going on, coach? It's Ben Neighbors.
In this video, I'm going to answer a super common
question that coaches ask me all the time,
and I get a crack out of this one. So this coach on
Instagram asked me, am I charging too little
for what I actually deliver? And so what I did is I
messaged him back and I said, well, what are you delivering?
And he then messaged me back like two
days later. He was like, well,
a lot of the kids that I work with either end up making their team
or they've gotten college scholarships.
And I was like, okay, well, how many kids have you trained
that have gotten college scholarships?
And he told me like 30 kids.
And I was like, okay, well, let's go back
to the original question, which is,
am I charging too little for what I actually deliver?
And here's the thing.
If you've ever asked yourself, could I charge more?
That means you should charge more, right?
Because you would not be thinking that
unless you know what you have is good, right?
And it would be weird to think,
should I charge more if you aren't seeing results with your clients?
Because if you're not seeing
results with your clients, you're probably going to be thinking,
man, I should probably be charging
less because you feel guilty
because you know that the service isn't good, right? So if you're
asking yourself this question,
am I charging too little for what I actually deliver? Yeah,
you are. You're probably undercharging by a lot.
And I've seen this with really good coaches in
the past. They're like helping kids get scholarships.
They're helping kids make
their team or be captain on their team.
And they have great transformations with these customers,
but they're failing to do a couple of things.
They're not marketing that. They're not talking
about that on their website or on Instagram.
They're not explaining that at all to current
prospects. And they're not weaving that in into their sales process.
And if you start doing that,
you know if you start talking about it
on social media you openly talk about the results you openly
talk about the the transformation stories
and if you don't personally want to do that then interview
your clients let them talk about it let them
be the star of the show they're probably going to be
doing a better job convincing other parents about
your program than than you could right this is why
like interviewing your clients having them share
what they learned what they got better at what
their transformation is and then like reposting
that on social media or running ads to it or
putting that on your website that's the sort
of stuff that changes the buying behavior of people
that are new to your program because they're going
to be like wow like this coach has helped 30 people
get college scholarships because like parents can
do the numbers in their head and they're like
a college scholarship could
be worth what two hundred thousand dollars it's like and this coach
wants to charge with 50 bucks per hour, like that,
that seems weird, right? That seems very off.
They've done this thing, but they're charging this little,
but the thing is you're probably
not broadcasting and telling people what the results are.
So the average parent is not going
to know anything about the results that you've gotten
with your clients. So they're going to
treat you the same way they treat all the other coaches
on CoachUp where it's like, all right,
this is going to be 50 bucks an hour.
And, and you could be the best trainer in the world.
you're going to feel stuck with your pricing,
even though you know your training is good.
So the way that you move from,
am I charging too little for what I deliver to the next level in
your business is A, you have to have good results with your customers.
B, you need to start marketing
and advertising those results.
And C, you need to weave this into your sales process. Because if you
have a parent on a sales call and you can just show them like,
let's say that, and I'm using
this guy as an example the guy
who told me has 30 clients that he's worked with that are playing
college sports now all you have to do is just like
when you get to your sales presentation like one
of the first things that you can show is like hey
by the way the the kids that we work with um you
know not everyone wants to play in college
but you know we've worked with over 30 families that
all have full-ride scholarships
um to the universities that they wanted to go to so i
wanted to show you that real quick that holds a lot of weight even
though like i just said it very
casually and nonchalant. It's like me saying
that at the beginning of a sales call is going to be
very different than me not showing that,
me not saying that, and just assuming that the parents
know. The parents don't know, right?
They're not watching every little thing that you post on
social media. This is why when you weave it into your sales process,
it's going to move mountains
in your business, right? So if you've asked yourself
this question, am I charging too little?
I promise you, you are. I've said this in other videos.
You probably right now have between 500
and $2,500 of added income per customer that you could
be charging if you're asking yourself this
question. And I know this is true.
I mean, I got on a call with a coach this week. He's a client
of mine. He used to charge $40 per session for basketball training.
Today's Friday, September
18th. On Monday, I had a call with him
and I will be posting this on my interview or on my
interview playlist on my YouTube channel,
on Monday, he had a $5,600 client that signed up.
One client that paid $5,600 upfront.
So he went from $40 per session to $5,600, right? So look
at the difference there. And the reason why he's able
to charge that much, he knows the results
are really good. He knows the program is top-notch.
And parents know before they get to him
what the results are like, right?
So it's not rocket science. All right. Hopefully this helps
you. If you want to have a really high price,
