James Kaufman, World News Report today.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Sunspot AR-4513 is literally on fire this week.
Sunspot AR-4513, the smoker.
They've come up with a new name for a sunspot this week,
and this time, it's Sunspot AR-4513,
and they're calling it a smoker.
and it has developed into a delta-class sunspot,
which is the most complex sunspot that we have heard of about thus far.
Of course, they are calling it a smoker for a combination of reasons.
The first being that it exploded
in Earth's direction seven times in the last four days.
The second being the strange coronal mass ejections
that seem to lift off the sunspot, looking like smoke as seen here,
only to mostly return to the sun's surface,
what they are now calling plasma rain.
So really, two new terms for me this week.
You can see a rendition of Earth and its moon,
and exactly how close we are right here.
Like I said, most of the coronal mass ejections either missed Earth
or returned plasma to the sun.
But no worries, we're in direct strike zone
for a coronal mass ejection inbound for the 28th of August.
So get ready for another over-exaggerated event based
on Earth's lack of atmosphere.
This is if we learned anything from the M1 coronal mass ejection.
It gave Earth a glancing blow
and created a solar cap absorption event for nearly 72 hours.
Let's take a quick look at our star on HMI Intensigram.
Obviously, there's our delta-class sunspot.
The rest being simple, a total of five sunspots Earth-facing,
and these turned out not to be so bad just yet.
We'll see what happens.
So we have one inbound coronal mass ejection for tomorrow,
and I would expect the solar winds
from the coronal hole that was Earth-facing
to be hitting us at some point today.
So we should go into maybe a G1 geomagnetic storm,
or at least a disturbance at some point today,
and that should probably move into a G1,
G2 geomagnetic storm tomorrow on the 28th.
With that said, that is your forecast.
god bless folks please give us a thumbs up
so important and make sure to share and we love you
