I saw on some platforms that you talked about the expanded playoffs.
I just wanted to ask you specifically,
how do you think that would benefit Washington going forward?
Well, I think it would benefit Washington
and college football going forward
because we have 68 teams, and to only have 12 teams go in the playoffs,
that would be like the NFL only having six, and they have 14.
So you need to be able to play the percentages, right?
If you have 68 power four teams and 130 regular teams of all teams,
you've got to be able to have at least, you know, at least 30%,
35% of the power four teams have a chance to play at the next,
to continue on in your season.
So that's number one.
So I think it's good for college football that we, you know,
do what baseball and basketball and all these other programs do.
I mean, college basketball, 68,
and I think it's even expanding now,
but 68 schools have a chance to go play.
So that's number one.
And number two, for Washington, you know,
like I've said this a million times,
that we have asked universities, fans, media,
all these people to help subsidize athletes.
And to only allow that money to be spent 12 weeks a year is,
you know, that's hard.
Like, you want to see these kids keep going
and have opportunities to keep playing.
And when you're paying rosters like we're paying them
and like we're going to have to continue to pay them
and pay them more than what we're paying them as the years continue.
Like there has to be some version of ROI that's more than just
a 12 game regular season that if you have a couple
of early injuries in a season, you're done.
So I think that is part of it as well,
that I think it's just better for college football and better for TV.
and then the last thing i would say is that we ask
these kids to make it a 12-month sport you
know we ask these kids to give you give ourselves
you know it's off-season training it's winter
training it's spring ball it's summer training like
to end it if you are nine and three and you
don't you know to then get to play one bowl game
and be done you know versus have a chance to go
compete for a championship i think it's cool
that we've enabled that to happen with this new 2014
playoff.
