Super Typhoon Bavi is one of the strongest storms in recorded history, causing catastrophic destruction across East Asia. Moving slowly, the massive system has brought extreme winds, lethal flooding, and tornadoes to the Philippines, Taiwan, China, and various Japanese islands, resulting in numerous fatalities and total infrastructure collapse in several areas.
James Kauffman, World News Report Today.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Bavi, the super typhoon.
This is not the strongest typhoon ever recorded, but it's very close.
We've had winds sustained up to 185 miles an hour,
with gusts up to 225-plus miles an hour.
This has calmed down a bit.
It's already crushed the Philippines way down here.
it's already crushed taiwan it's starting
to crush china it's already crushed all these
japanese islands out here the winds
are currently down to and this is going to be 92
miles an hour
and that is sustained with gusts up to about 135 miles an hour
And it was much,
much stronger just a day ago
I don't know if it's going to strengthen or what it's going to do
But I want to show
y'all that it's only moved between the 3rd and the 15th
It's only moved this far
So the flooding is extreme
I have pictures that y'all are not going to believe
It's spawning tornadoes left and right
This is going to be a complete disaster for all these Japanese islands.
It already has been for all the outer islands out here,
where it was really, really whipping it up.
And I'll show you the winds out there.
This thing is moving so slow that it'll tomorrow only be here,
and by the 12th be here, by the 13th probably be in South Korea.
Currently still offshore, headed towards China, then South Korea.
I'm going to show you all pictures you won't believe.
Ladies and gentlemen, you all saw how far
the Philippines was to the south of this thing.
And here we see that it already took 15 lives in the Philippines.
And look at all the evacuations.
I have tons of photos or videos.
I won't believe it.
Stick around for a second
and take a look at one of the strongest storms in history.
This is going to be Typhoon Bavi
in the Philippines here.
Let's see.
Well, you can see the Philippines are way down here.
This is Taiwan, but it's still affecting the Philippines like that.
As Super Typhoon Bavi approaches residents in Taiwan, Japan, and China
who've been stockpiling supplies, closing businesses,
hundreds of fishing boats have rushed back
to port to try to shelter from this storm,
Well, flights and ferries have all been canceled.
Look at this thing.
And for East Asia, just a taste.
Wait until you all see what it looked like
when it was headed over Guam.
Obviously, the shelves will be empty soon.
They're trying to board up for it.
There's been a couple that have been stronger than this,
but just a couple in recorded history.
Here we have ground winds
of 150 miles an hour,
gusts up to 215 miles an hour, on the outer islands.
unbelievable catastrophic every single
home was completely destroyed we
do have a fly over
the drone after this i don't know if i can play it
but there's nothing left on the island just
boards where the homes used to be personally i've
never seen anything like it now we're looking at
a butterfly tide tide is pushing
from two directions up a beach here and it's creating
butterfly wings on either side here driven
by typhoon bavi a rare butterfly tide appeared
up the Guangdong river two tidal waves rushed together
their fronts opening up like butterfly
wings. A central vortex of white foam sketched
the body of the butterfly. As you can see,
I've never seen anything like this.
It says Bobby has arrived in China. It really has
not. Just the outer bands. Look at the flooding in China.
It's unbelievable. Those are pigs
trying to stay afloat. Sad situation here.
Swimming about, looking for someplace to go.
nobody's helping them they're everywhere
unbelievable it's gonna be a complete catastrophe
gotta open that fence this is supposed to be in China
but we see that it's not really supposed
to even hit China until 11 maybe the 12th
this is the outer bands look at the rain
associated with this they're not even dealing
with the wind yet not even dealing with the winds this
is the surge look
at this it's tough tough
the handle for sure
a lot more where
this came from
hold on for a bit look
at the water here unbelievable
how many homes have been swept
away boys and gentlemen that is a lot of water here we
are we need a rescue we have two on the
roof here no choppers anywhere inside look at the water they're
so lucky that that home
that particular home has not washed away it looks
very well built they should be so frightened look
how high the water is these are the telephone poles they must
be on the second or third floor here
maybe higher so the telephone pole is here
not any kind of water you want to get in with those
lines down as you can see right into the water
unbelievable we need a helicopter rescue asap here
and unbelievably although the Philippines seem
so far away from the central pressure
it's such a large typhoon this is the philippines
again completely flooded inside and out i'm
talking about a large system here.
Extremely large, to say the very least. Inside and out,
full of water. Nothing. Nothing is salvageable here.
This is ongoing through the 13th or
14th for sure. We do have some tornadoes
that we have pictures of as well here. We haven't
even reached, look, we haven't even reached Taiwan yet.
And look how much of the Philippines
has basically been hit
but these are just the strongest winds the system is so large that most
all the philippines was hit and taiwan's already been hit
and mainland's already been hit but when
this part of the system gets into play
and again we're here we're here it's gonna be a ---- show
we're gonna have a lot of fatalities
on this one i have yet to see something this strong come to
especially this slowly the red box is your
tornado warning box and you can see it is big
we have some tornadoes here all right
this is mainly in china happening right now it's
nighttime there these are tornadoes already hitting the island
and well the central part
of this storm and even the strong part
of this storm won't touch china for another 40 hours
the size of that tornado
look inside electrical
just completely down
is filming always a great
time to film and see that this is nothing to mess
with whatsoever we've got a couple of them
I think here another huge tornado
on the mainland in China wow look at the size of this
thing look at the destruction everything
is just gone they're saying that this is mainland China
doesn't look like it's reached that far
but you see it on a map and we'll take a look at on a map
it's just so large just so very large here is
an idea go to windy.com and take a look at it
these are some of the islands that are no longer
with us i believe that's Guam we do have a military
base there i have no idea well what happened there
no film coming out of there and actually
uh i didn't know this was going down they're calling
for 11 more people that perished in
China and that's inland
to the two tornadoes
this is i guess the second one here
wreaked havoc on these provinces wow
so much electrical going out
that one building still
lit up with all of its electricity
which is unbelievable all right you can see that it's
actually hitting Philippines pretty good
with this tail down here i mean this thing's huge
it's yet to really hit
that one it's hitting taiwan right about now it looks like it's barely
touching some of the provinces here in china
and we're seeing all that flooding tornado because
the water being pushed up in these areas
the tornadoes are not helping they run the last
few hours here so we're going to be able
to do last hour we don't get to see much here so a
little bit of rotation over the last hour it's going
to take taiwan completely out it looks like
anyway guys i wanted to show
y'all bobby one of the strongest typhoons to ever hit asia
again there have been a few stronger ones
but this is up there in the top god bless you guys
say a prayer for all these people they definitely
need it i can't believe that it reached almost all
all of the philippines was hit by the tail here
as you can see the lightning light up there
and it's really yet to make the landfall
although we're seeing heavy flooding in these chinese
provinces here and to tornadoes please share
and give us a thumbs up and remember this is
all possible along with anything
in bizarro world god bless you guys
