AI GeneratedFox 6 Now reports on the electric atmosphere in Milwaukee as the Brewers prepare to host Game 1 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. The segment highlights the community's passion, the likability of the players, and the anticipation surrounding starting pitcher Jacob Mizorowski.
Taking a live look inside American Family Field
as they get kind of those last-minute
preparations underway.
They were mowing the lawn about 10 minutes ago.
I know they were practicing some
of the ceremonies earlier today that are going to happen here
at AmFam tonight.
You guys are excited.
We are excited.
You know who else I bet is pretty excited for tonight?
If I had to guess, I would think maybe
Tim Van Voorhen's a little excited.
Tim, thanks for joining us here on Fox 6 Now.
I'm in that category, Haley, for sure.
And did you see that ballpark?
How good did that look?
I know the roof's going to be closed tonight.
The panels will be closed for the game.
But you can see the sky peeking through there right now.
Milwaukee looks its finest with the finest team
in all of baseball this season.
What a stage.
Absolutely.
I'm so excited for you know some people
to hopefully see Milwaukee on that big stage,
fall in love with Milwaukee, fall in love with these Brewers fans.
we've already seen them falling in love
with you know some of the stories that have come out of
this World Series including Samson the 13 year old
that Ted Perry got to chat with in LA we even
heard the Miz yesterday getting
a little choked up about Samson I guess you know what does the
World Series really mean to Milwaukee because I think
when we talk about Samson and his story Tim
it's about more than just baseball
and you know winning four games here in the World Series
I think that's a great question, Haley, and I think you're right.
You know baseball brings a community
together over the course of a season anyway.
Maybe you're not playing well. That unifies
the fan base. Maybe you are playing well.
That unifies the fan base. Certainly in Milwaukee
this season, everybody fired up as the season went along.
We've had Brew Crew Tuesday the
last couple of years on Fox 6.
That just gained more momentum, more momentum, more momentum
every week because baseball's there every night, right?
And so people just are invested in this
as it goes along. So I think when your team's succeeding,
your team is up there beating the
Los Angeles, beating the San Diego's last year,
beating the Chicago Cubs. That's just a feather
in the cap for people who may even just be casual Brewer fans.
So I do think baseball has that
ability. Any sports team can,
but I do think baseball probably more than any has that ability.
it's generational 13 year old Samson uh you're talking about people
who went to the 1957 World
Series you know they're still around uh
when that was here in Milwaukee with the Milwaukee Braves
and then of course some people talking about 1982
so it's really just a an awesome deal uh and you
know it all it's all on Fox Six we don't mind
that either Haley no we don't mind that one bit we're
thrilled to get to bring every single game
of the World Series to our viewers here on Fox Six we
also got to bring them
so much fun yesterday media day for the World Series I know there were
so many players available to chat
with yesterday afternoon what were maybe some of your favorite
conversations that you had I know Garrett Mitchell
was chatting about cheese they were just it was
so entertaining Tim we had Lily Zhao
and Brandon Cruz on the on the case for that Haley so I was
out there other than from afar listening
and as you said you had guys talking about you know
Sal Frelick's talking about going to mass and the priest is fired up.
Garrett Mitchell's talking about cheese.
Some of these bros are just so happy for the update.
Aaron Ashby, kind of the magnitude
of everybody in baseball coming to Milwaukee.
And, of course, we're going to hear from Pat Murphy again today.
We've heard from Pat Murphy time and time again.
And there are certain guys, Haley,
by now who would be out of material, right?
They just, what are we going to get from that guy again?
Pat Murphy is fresh every single time.
He's interesting.
He's enlightening.
He's entertaining.
He's informative.
So I think the Brewers are just landing
and hitting all the right notes so far in all this experience.
So if you go out there and you lose four games to the Tampa Bay Rays,
obviously that's going to take some sting out of it.
But right now, all the buildup, everything's in place
for this to continue to be such a special experience.
Yes.
Oh, absolutely.
And I love, you know, when I see some of these clips
on social media of Garrett Mitchell talking about cheese or,
you know, Sal Frelick talking about cheese.
about yeah being at mass I love scrolling through the comments
and seeing people be like well I'm a
Dodgers fan but now I'm rooting for the Brewers
or I'm from Chicago but I want the Brewers to win
because to your point our team has so much heart
and they are just so lovable that it's hard not
to root for them unless you're a Tampa Bay Rays fan
but I think it's going to be just absolutely
amazing to get to see them introduced to so many new fans
who tune in here for the World Series
Of course, tonight,
all eyes are going to be on The Miz as he gets the start on the mound.
What do you expect from him?
I feel like it hasn't been the strongest of postseason performance,
but it hasn't been bad either.
I think you're right on that, Haley.
Last year, of course, he was terrific in a relief role in the NLCS,
and people thought, oh my gosh, look at that.
That didn't lead the Brewers to a victory, right?
This year, he's been certainly passable in his starts,
and the Brewers are in the World Series.
They've advanced through two series
and had the bye in the opening round.
So this time of year, it's about results.
Sure, you want to go out there and dominate
and leave a legacy and be an October hero.
That stuff's all great.
But Jacob Mizorowski, very early in his career,
has stressed that he is a team guy.
He wants his team to succeed.
He's approached things that way.
I think you're getting more
of that as we see him more here in this postseason run.
And I would expect him to be on point tonight.
What does that mean?
15 strikeouts, complete game?
Probably not.
But I expect him to be on point up to the challenge.
And I think the Rays are a challenge.
Not that much has been said about the Rays here in the last few days.
They're a very good baseball team, very similar to the Brewers.
They have good starting pitching.
They have very good back end of the bullpen.
They like to put pressure on teams on the base pass.
All that stuff, which we'll see play out over a best-of-seven series.
Okay, so we've got to ask you now, because you know that we love
kind of pulling back the curtain on Fox 6 now,
getting a little bit of that behind-the-scenes look at things.
What has your day already been like as you get ready to now go
and cover game one of the World Series?
And what kind of does the rest of your schedule hold
as you get ready for 7 p.m. in that first pitch?
Well, Haley, it's a, you know, it's kind of a,
it's kind of a stepladder, kind of a staircase here.
You, right now, I'm in the carpool.
I'm with Brandon Cruz.
I'm with photographers Tanner Hempker and Jared Harrington.
That is a highlight moment.
We're cruising in a minivan near
the ballpark on a sunny day in Milwaukee.
and the good thing is it's only going to go up
from there i have the chance to join you here
with this i have another chance to go coming up
in the next half hour we're going to spin over to
the to the tv side of things uh you know once we go
that fully that way later this afternoon again
it's all on fox six four o'clock stick
and stay just you know you you can throw out the remotes
just put it there because we're going to take you all
the way up to the game we've got the whole
game, through the Fox
post game, and then all sorts of
coverage right afterwards on Fox 6. We have our crews
out everywhere. It's just an honor to be a part
of it. Everybody's pulling together. You talk about
the likable Brewers. That's great.
They're all a team thing. You know, I think we've
really seen a team effort in
the coverage of the postseason so far,
and it's been a blast. And I
suspect that's only going to continue to build.
So again, carpool,
pretty exciting, Kaylee, but more
to come. Can we get a thumbs up
from everyone in the carpool? Are they enjoying
their game one festivities so far, Mr. Cruz there
you go Mr. Hopper, Mr. Harrington, that's on the road
very good, very good, excellent to see
the uh you know, Tanner's wheeling the minivan with great
authority, so we're kind of, we're taking, we're taking stock
in all that we're seeing here, Haley
uh as it all gets going, this is just game one. Think about
that, think of the experience that
all of us in Milwaukee uh have as possibilities over
the next week plus, Tim Van Voren making
minivans cool again here on Fox 6 now, okay
as sports director, I mean I know you've covered
so many exciting things, you've
also been here at Fox 6 for a very long time, you are definitely
an expert on all things Wisconsin sports. What
is this like to get to kind of you know
check off this box of getting to cover
a Brewers World Series appearance, uh I will say I was in
the camp of not thinking that this was going to be
something that we would have the chance to do.
the Brewers made it to the NLCS
last year. I kind of thought maybe that
was their cap, to be honest with you.
Good teams like the Dodgers are always going to
have a high payroll. I thought
things had to work right for the Brewers to get that far.
Maybe that's as far as they
could ever go in this era of baseball.
Here we are, World Series,
home field advantage. Again, the weather
may not be great if it goes through
seven games. Who knows? It has been
splendid so far in the post
season i think that's part of it too everybody says such
a good mood haley uh and obviously
it's a great day today and so yeah it's definitely
a check the box you know to to be a long-time
sportscaster milwaukee nba finals super bowl
championships ncaa final fours now you add the
world series to that i did cover the the cubs
and the in the indians but that wasn't the same thing
this is right here in milwaukee um yeah it's awesome
and we're riding in a minivan haley i
I mean, again, I don't know if I can stress how cool that is.
I used to see a minivan in the area of the station
a few years ago with the plates, Haley.
We caved.
I don't think we caved.
I think we're ascending.
We're riding high today.
