Burg Nutrition's 'Rays Up' drink

guests that we are bringing on are really quenching people's thirst with a really cool drink. Sydney and Jake Newsome own The Berg Nutrition with one location right across the street from Tropicana Field. They opened their business just about a year ago, and now they've got a front row seat to all of this World Series excitement, and they are actually joining us live here on Fox Tampa Bay Live right now. Guys, good morning to you. You picked quite a time to open up shop in the right location. How are we feeling this morning? I'm good. How are you? Thanks for having us. Oh, thank you. I have to say, we actually have friends who live in St. Pete, and they actually sent us a picture of your raise-up drink, and it just looks so refreshing. You have to tell me, when you guys started this, was this a World Series kind of delicacy? Tell me about it. Yeah, so whenever we first opened, And we didn't even think about the trot being right beside the store. We just moved here fresh, like new to St. Pete. We were like, we have to get somewhere downtown. No one knows who we are. Flash forward, the Rays have a phenomenal season. Now they're in the World Series. The entire Rays, like ticketing staff, all of them come into the store. And I was actually taking a delivery the other day. And I was like, I texted my husband, Jake. And I was like, we need to do a Rays drink. Well, flash forward, I come into the store and the whole staff is in here getting a drink. And I was like, y'all, we have to do a drink. What's it going to be called? What is the vibe of the drink need to be? What colors? What are we thinking? And then from there, this was earlier this week. And then the raise up was born. And we did not expect it to go as crazy as it did. I mean, so you have to tell me and I forgive me if we're getting a live demonstration of what's in it. But I mean, what when you're sipping on it, what is in the raise up? So we can make it live for you right here. Of course, we're not going to reveal too many of our secrets, but it is a caffeinated drink full of vitamins C, B, and B12. Also going to have aloe in there. This is just our baseline drink. Customers can add variations as they go on, but this drink is a lemonade base, so we put that in the bottom. And then you swirl it around, you do all the things, we add our fun ice and water. The biggest thing about our drinks that customers love, that we love even when we're traveling and bringing our stuff with us, is that we do have the nugget ice. So we always are sprinkling that in there all the way to the top. I love it. And then we add water there. And then so the rays, this is the aloe. And then the rays, of course, wanted it to be yellow and blue, fun looking like the actual rays colors. so we just sprinkle the blue razz and the blue sweet tart right on top and then there you have it you have you have the rays up right there this comes just as one of our loaded teas so full of caffeine full of vitamins but and then whenever you put the lid on I'm making a mess in here you shake it up and it looks like it belongs right at Tropicana Field and they're all loving it so they wanted it to be sweet a little bit of tart and that's what they Especially the colors. Especially the colors. Yeah. And that is what they came up with. So it was a group effort with the staff and it's been a hit. My gosh, it looks so rough, I wish I could just sip it through the screen right now. I know, we could put a straw in. Cheers to you guys. I have to say, I mean, you guys, we were talking a little bit about where you guys are from and your story when we were on the phone yesterday. I know you both are not from here. So what has this journey been like coming from other places, moving to St. Petersburg and opening the Berg Nutrition. Tell us all about your business and your story. Yeah, so a little over, I guess a year and a half ago now, I was a therapist. He was a chemical engineer. We both hated our jobs, kind of like a lot of people we know. And he was traveling to Tampa a good bit. And we were praying a lot about what our next move was going to be. And then lo and behold, we started shopping around in St. Pete found this location And we were like, the Berg nutrition has to happen. So can you guys still hear us okay? We're hoping you guys come back here. Oh, I think we got you there. I'm so sorry. No, you're fine. We're good. Pick up right where you left off. Yeah, I'm originally from Mississippi. He's originally from Philly. We had been miserable, worked wondering what our next steps were gonna be. And we had been talking about doing this for a long time. And then finally we pulled the trigger. He was working a good bit in Tampa. We came to St. Pete. We actually got engaged in Tampa right after the hurricanes or during the hurricanes. So we've had a lot of life lived here in Florida, especially in the St. Pete, Tampa Bay area. So we knew St. Pete was gonna be home after that and we found the Berg and it has been a whirlwind ever since. And so we opened up our second location about four or five months ago now and that's a little bit closer to the beach side. I love it. I love it. The TROP location, especially right now, I know we've got a block party later. We've got the actual watch party inside the TROP. If people want to go and pick up a raise up this weekend, tell me your hours and how much it costs. So we are open today until 530. Tomorrow is Mezzo Market, so we will be here 8 to 2. That is our normal, typical Saturday hours. And then Sunday, there's two ways you can get a raise up or just come visit us at the Berg. you can come to our storefront downtown. It is from 10 to 2 on Sunday. And then we will also be at Halloween on Central Ave, which I believe starts at 1 to 4, I think. 1 to 4 or 12 to 4. Like a shutting down Central. Yeah. So two ways to get us. And then tomorrow and today, you can also stop at our other location as well called St. Pete Nutrition Bar. That is also where you can find a raise up too. So several options. Awesome, awesome. Well, I love it so much. I love how everybody is getting involved in the raise, the excitement in some way. So maybe I'll get there to try it one day.
