in the Zoom room coming up here in just a little bit.
We'll hear how they are spending their weekend.
We'll also check in with our in-studio guest host.
Bisma is making her way here from the seven
o'clock show we'll say hello to her in just a
bit as well in the meantime though we're going
to dive right in and we are starting off talking
about Friday nights of all things
because apparently the end of the work week has become
just another week night Americans now spend just four percent
of their evenings with their friends
or out according to a depressing new study
from UNC Chapel Hill experts say it's a trend that
started well before the pandemic,
and Friday nights in particular have seen the biggest drop.
But late night socializing, socializing after midnight,
that's what we're talking about,
once a defining part of weekend social life has all
but vanished as well, according to this study,
dropping below 1%. That lost social time is not shifting to Saturday
or Sunday either. Instead,
researchers say more Americans
are just straight up spending more time at home on nights and
weekends so let's head into the zoom room some people hanging out
at home tonight with us Melissa
well actually Melissa might be out
and about Melissa spending more time at home on Friday
nights do you like this or not because of the economy um you know
and me not working full time
I would prefer to stay home, but I have loving friends
who are always inviting me out, even in my work clothes.
I just finished teaching a class
and I'm at the Upper Marlboro Golf Club and I'm about
to have some drinks with some old farts and call it a night.
But if you leave it up to me, I'm tired, Chris.
I would much rather stay at home and make some margaritas
and make some chicken wings in my air fryer.
I completely understand. But I will say if I was not here right now,
ideally, I would be out at happy hour.
However, I also understand that at the end of a long work week,
some people are just straight up too exhausted
in addition to not necessarily having the funds.
Alice. Oh, no. Wesley. Wesley's home on a Friday night.
Wesley, sometimes we see you out on Friday night.
Sometimes we see you at home on Friday night.
But the idea that more people are just giving up and staying home.
do you like this or not um i like it i mean you
are no one asked you anything about um i like it
i mean people work all week fridays are kind
of turned i mean they turn happy hour and friday
into like wednesday thursday friday's kind of stay home
and then pick back up on saturday for
me personally i'm either working on friday
or i'm off on friday and we go out tomorrow so just
offset i mean it's friday just relax spend your money
and then go out killer no one wants to hear
from you sorry it's okay i actually do want to hear from killer
and looks like he's glad you're
home on a friday night because he gets
to bother you Bismah has made her way here Bismah thanks so
much for joining us as always Bismah you're always out
and about on friday night so this would not
shock me if you were the exception to the rule of this study
but the idea of more and more people
staying in on friday nights do you like this oh 100
if i'm not here on friday nights i'm gonna
be at home watching netflix right like unless
i have something you know i'll be here because
you know like i just i'm not a person that goes out
on friday okay it's like it's a rest day yeah
like saturday night even sunday like i want to have a sunday fun day
but friday night i just
want to relax you know just like take
the pressure off watch netflix i don't know just chill i think
I think part of the reason that my idea of like,
I think a lot of people do that. Friday nights,
they chill. Saturday nights, they may go out
because that way they've gotten to sleep in a
little bit. They've gotten to recover from the week
a little bit. I was always the opposite.
And I think I blamed my schedule because my weekends used to,
and again, I know I talk
about this a lot. I used to be on the morning show
and I was on it for like 17 years. So my
Fridays started at like noon, one o'clock,
two o'clock in the afternoon and cannot go out. Then
felt like you were just wasting an entire day yeah
because sundays it was kind of like sundays
you needed to take care of business like
the weekend ended at like four o'clock as soon as
like the sun started to go down you know
so like you didn't have a ton of time to do it and you
couldn't go out during the week
because you had to go to bed at like it's tough it's tough it is
tough chad and laura chad and laura in the zoom room
on this friday night they're at home right
now but we see them out at happy hours all
the time yeah it's listen it's uh it's cheaper to
drink at home i know chad it's cheaper cheaper trigger it's what
was it's drink cheaper at
home it's drink cheaper at home for sure yeah
also i'm the best dj too yeah i don't need to go
out because i spend every night with my best friend that's
so sweet you guys hear that that's
i'm gonna screenshot this for sure
but no honestly like staying home on a friday night in the past
up until i guess recently like staying home friend i guess yeah
so my best friend staying
home on a friday night was like against the law
in my world like never you know yeah so this is
weird for me oh chad it also does change
when you're in a relationship admittedly when i was
a single man i was out any opportunity i could jesse
is in the zoom room on this friday night
Jesse, staying home on Friday nights, do you like it or not?
I do not like it, but I have to like it.
I have no choice.
The way the economy is set up, as a great philosopher Kevin Hart said,
I have a checking and a savings,
and the checking and the savings does this and this.
And honestly, I want to start traveling.
I want to start doing more things in 2027,
and I'm starting my New Year's resolution now
by staying in on Fridays in 2026.
That is discipline.
I applaud you.
Yes, exactly.
And I can't wait to see where you go in 2027 with all
of the discipline that you are applying to late October 2026.
The Silver Fox is in the Zoom room on this Friday night.
In case you missed it, Bisma,
the Pinky Ring King went gray last night on us.
Was it your recommendation?
I mean, I like to think I had a hand in it.
It looks sharp, my friend.
The whole hand, the whole beautiful hand.
Ladies and gentlemen, and let's just say it's buzzing here.
I'm here at the world famous Selena.
She's over here at Tyson.
Cheers to everybody.
Bismarck, you look wonderful.
exquisite my queen, my goddess.
This one's for you, baby.
Fancy, fancy, fancy.
Oh, he finished it.
He's out and about on a Friday night.
Billy.
Never stay home.
Always outside.
Let's go.
Always outside.
Billy, what about you?
Staying home on a Friday night, do you like it or not?
You know, I work 3 to 11 on Fridays,
so I don't really get a chance to go out.
Like, once I get off work, I'm going home, I'm going to sleep.
I'm like this, I'm going out on Saturdays,
I'm going to turn up on Saturdays.
Turn up on Saturdays, yeah.
When I get off on a Friday night,
I pour like an 18-ounce glass of bourbon.
Yeah.
And then I just watch movies and Netflix and just fall asleep.
Next up, the New York Knicks accused of orchestrating one
of the most diabolical schemes on some of their own employees.
You're looking at the headline from TMZ right now.
According to The Athletic, though, back in September, several Madison
Square Garden employees received emails letting them know they
were getting a Knicks NBA championship ring, just like the team.
The email was to let them know they could choose between
two different designs, and all they needed to do was click
a link to see the two different kinds and choose it.
Several employees clicked the link to check out their complimentary
rings, but the email was an elaborate phishing test.
Instead of a ring, the employees
who clicked the link got a mandatory cybersecurity test.
TMZ told Fox 5 earlier tonight some 200 Madison Square Garden
and Knicks employees
who are not team members or coaches will now get rings.
Not sure whether it's related
to the bad press they got as a result of this,
but apparently they're forking over like $4 million
as a result of this.
The organization claims that was the plan all along,
but the internet and myself,
have our doubts but dismiss the idea of pulling a bait
and switch on your own team like this do
you like it or not i think okay i actually feel like it's
a clever way to see are you being
responsible with what you're clicking
on or are you just like wildly just clicking on everything i
also think it could be really mean if we're sending it
to staff that aren't supposed to get
the ring and it's like
and then you make them think that you did yeah right oh man there is
no quicker way yeah but if you weren't getting
a ring they better get a ring no matter what anyone
who got that email and thought that they
were getting one what easier way to just make your
employees hate you yeah than this kind of nonsense wesley
the idea of fishing your own employees
with dangling a championship ring in front of them
do you like this or not you know i like this
You're a chaos muppet.
We create the chaos, yeah.
I mean, you've got them pitting up against each other.
Oh, you got offered a ring.
I didn't get a ring.
Plus catching them fishing, sleeping at the wheel,
downloading viruses to the company.
Absolutely, get them out of there.
We love this.
You know what?
If you ensnared me in this scheme
and then did not give me a ring as a result,
I am clicking on every virus that comes my way
from that day until the day you drag me
out of the building and take away my pass
because you have earned it as a result.
You deserve every virus you get.
Allison, do you like this phishing test?
I don't like it at all, Chris.
My job does this, but not to this extent.
They'll do it for like compliance.
Like say you want a gift card or something to see if you'll click.
and i actually fell for it twice
and then they're telling me i have to take a class so i'm like i'm
not taking a class don't play with my emotions like it's not okay
and that's what this does
this plays with people's emotions
and it makes you not trust because again like if they get a
ring for real are they going to believe it they're never going
to trust anybody i just don't like it
at all no not one bit yeah not one bit we get uh
not just ones from our own corporate IT but
But obviously, we get ones that are real phishing schemes as well.
And I have just gotten to the point where I do not trust any link.
Do you have a fault for that?
No, but I will get real emails.
Like very recently, I just had a discussion
with one of our digital content managers today
because he was like, hey,
you may have gotten an email earlier this week about X, Y, and Z.
And I was like, oh, yeah, no, I just assumed that was fake.
And he was like, no, that's real.
You should actually click on it.
Billy, the idea of phishing your own team,
dangling that championship ring in front of them,
and then making them go to a cybersecurity class instead,
do you like this or not?
No, I don't like it.
What in the April Fool is going on.
I'm like, come on, don't do your employees like that.
They work hard the whole season.
They're telling their friends,
I'm about to get a ring, I'm about to get a ring,
and then here we go with this.
No, I don't like it.
That's a cheap shot.
That is a huge cheap shot.
I absolutely agree with you 100%.
Let's stick with basketball now,
but we're going to talk about Minnesota Timberwolves star LaMelo Ball.
He is getting some side eye from parents after
a recent ESPN postgame interview with Ernie Johnson.
Take a listen.
You're a dad now, a 10-month-old son, right?
Yeah, he just turned nine months.
Nine months.
So are you a diaper changer, man?
Nah, my girl do all that.
It's love for sure.
She do all that.
You know what I'm saying?
We got a good game plan going on.
So I know what I got to do to bring to the table.
She know what she got to do to bring to the table.
Man, you don't know what you're missing.
I'm telling you that.
I hope you have a great.
Nah, I done did it before.
You feel me?
Okay.
I know.
I got you.
Yeah, I definitely did it before.
It's just not my job.
You know what I'm saying?
It's not my job.
It's not my job.
In case you missed it, Ball said diaper duty, not his job.
He says his partner handles changing their nine-month-old son.
But as you heard, he says they have a good game plan.
They both know what they bring to the table.
I got to give a shout out to Ernie Johnson
for telling him he doesn't know what he's missing.
As you can imagine, though, that comment
spread like wildfire on the Internet.
A lot of parents criticizing his approach to fatherhood.
Others, though, defended him,
saying that a lot of times parents do split duties.
So, Bisma, the idea of dad not doing diaper duty,
do you like it or not?
You know what? Dad does not have to do a single thing
if he is providing house staff and nannies and,
you know, providing for the family.
That is absolutely fine. The nannies will do it.
But then aren't you missing out on being an active parent?
You have to know how to change the diaper in case of...
If you are changing everything to someone else,
are you then raising that child?
But he's a celebrity. I feel like that's how they operate.
But I would also argue there were probably plenty of dads out there
who are not earning tens of millions of dollars,
who never changed a diaper, you know,
and I might be pointing the finger at like boomers and stuff like that.
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
But maybe that was just the way it used to be.
Look, if it works for them, it works for them. Who am I to judge?
Allison in the Zoom room.
Allison, dad not being on diaper duty. Do you like it or not?
Believe it or not, Chris, I kind of side with him.
Just like Bisma said, it's like they each share
their own responsibilities.
but this is my thing too
as a former publicist i'm like why did the publicist not check the
questions that would be asked
because he should know this will make like normal everyday people
judge as if he was like being an irresponsible dad
and i don't think he is there's a lot of dads
that are absent he's in his child's life he obviously loves
his child let him do what he does
and let her do what she does with the nannies fair enough chad
is in the zoom room chad i know it's
been a couple years since you had to change diapers
but dad not doing diaper duty do you
like it or not i mean about last saturday shane
gillis made me forget all about what's her name
sydney sweeney now this guy's making me i'm
so upset about this that i've almost forgot about
shane gillis's outrageous comments look we're all
so stupid diapers either it sounds disgusting
i changed diapers i changed i changed my kids i
was a single dad for like 10 years if you don't
have to why would you um but i'm
not outraged i don't care i i appreciate the honesty chad to be
to be honest with you look i i i mean i think you're
on to something lara if you didn't have
to change a diaper would anybody really want
to although to be honest with you it is kind of
hilarious when i have to change diapers it's just it's true
and i'll be honest with you uh i mean
as good as as when you say pro do you mean like i mean like
when explosion happens it's going all
it's a mess yeah no i got it all over me today
literally today she she pooped all over me it's
it's just a fact that happens melissa dad
not doing diaper duty do you like it or not
uh listen as i was a mom and i raised kids
and i'm sorry that's everybody's responsibility i
don't give a damn how rich you
are i don't care what what status you are in change your baby's
diaper and it's funny you brought this up
because tmz reached out to me today and they wanted me to
they wanted me to talk about this same topic
and also how i felt about the nick uh last game
and them messing up so much um but yeah no it's crazy
and uh by the way he's got one of my old
parts that i hang out with so you know i just wanted
to give him a little love on tv i love
his hat so tell him i like that as well
and tell TMZ to stop stealing our people we love our zoom
room people all right next up Joe Buck Troy Aikman they have
been a broadcasting duo for a quarter
of a century. 25 years.
They started their NFL play calling career right here at Fox
before jumping ship together, landing over at ESPN.
But it sounds like the days of smooth
sailing may be over because the pair got
into a heated argument before a game several weeks ago,
and it reportedly stemmed from the fact
that Joe Buck had just signed a new deal with ESPN for six
years worth more than $100 million.
Troy Aikman is in the last year of his contract, and he has
not been offered an extension
and Buck reportedly did not tell Troy about his new deal and neither
did ESPN so Aikman felt
and i quote over he he used the actual words though the two have
apparently put the beef behind them as they still have
the rest of the season and a Super Bowl
to call together but this has
this has gotten some uh some people online weighing in and so
Bisma does Troy have a point should they have negotiated as a team
or is it every man for
themselves you know what this reminds me of Chris
do you remember Caller Daddy when you know Alex
Cooper and the other girl i'm forgetting
her name other girl that goes to tell you right away
for the record it goes to show like dunkelman
or you're one of you is gonna lose you know and i
like i mean i think it's just giving me flashbacks
to that it never works out but there's always a
winner when you're like going in together
as a group yeah he's the Beyonce of the group he's the
be Joe Buck the Beyonce of the group some might argue otherwise Wesley
the killer is a killer is
on a rampage tonight hey do you do you think
is it every man for themselves or if they have been
together for 25 years do they do they go into there
and negotiate together, I still hold a grudge
against Miss Beyonce Knowles for doing her team wrong
so no I'm not really down with you make the
faces if you want to, Miss Allison
but I'm not down with this, you've got your crew, you bring your
crew with you, it's not step on to get to the next
so no I don't like it boo, a rising tide
ships, a rising tide floats all ships, Allison, you
do you disagree? I mean obviously we know
how you feel about Beyonce
but how do you feel about Joe Buck turning his back on his old buddy
Troy, okay so I'm gonna see Wesley this weekend, we'll fight that day
but no about this situation
um it's hard because they've been together for 25 years
but they are individuals, you know sometimes
the crew has to break up
so it's it's like I don't know, I'm kind of on the fence with it but
yeah I would say they're individuals, you know
what, they don't have to be together all the time
yeah and look if ESPN wants to move on from Troy Aikman
but wants to keep Joe Buck it's not Joe
Buck's job to necessarily be willing to lose his job, yeah
when they don't want to keep Troy Aikman
out, it's just unfortunate
when you are a team that then the team gets broken up Jesse do you
like the idea of every man for themselves
or should they have gone at it together but normally
I would like the idea of every man for themselves just
because you have to fight your own battles
in this world it's a dog eat dog world
but here's the twist with this story in 2022 when Troy
Aikman first joined ESPN he asked executives
and kind of nudged them to bring Joe Buck over he
really wanted to work with his partner that he'd
been with at Fox for so many years so the fact
that Joe didn't even give the executives a hint
of like hey maybe you should keep Troy since he's
the one who kind of brought me over it's kind of messed up
but it makes sense on Disney's end i
mean he's versatile he's he was on dancing
with the stars the other day he anchors Good Morning
America and apparently Troy's been kind of a pain
in the butt lately in the booth so i don't like
it but i get it i i you are 100 percent correct
and unfortunately sometimes friendship and business
do not mix and this may be one of those instances Joe Buck
is also you know he's a he's a two sport
athlete you know calling baseball football etc coming up next letting
your parents negotiate
your
salary
welcome
back
to do
you
like
it or
not
on
this
friday
night
we
start
at
the
top
of
the
show talking about how good Cam looked with a mustache
and maybe that should be his new look
beards had a good run but it looks like mustaches
are having a moment once again yeah just like my
man Ron Burgundy they're growing in popularity
as more celebrities embrace the look obviously
this anchorman tennis star Carlos Alcaraz one
of the latest to hop on the wave before him though
there was Travis Kelce Timothy Chalamet Harry
Styles Jacob Elordi has been rocking one for a
while apparently mustaches are popular with the younger generations
because there are so many
grooming options they say so making the mustache mainstream
do you like it or not i do i feel like
when i see somebody with just the mustache
no beard especially if it's skinny it's giving okay
you are funny like you are very approachable i think it gives
that you can't grow better facial
hair which i know all about that i feel like you're
not afraid to break out of the mold and
be yourself and do your thing i don't know i kind
of like it there's something about it that always
feels slightly like ironic attempting i mean
remember millennials billy millennials had like
The finger mustaches and everything had a mustache.
And we had Movember.
We had a whole month dedicated to mustaches.
Do you like this or not?
I love it.
I just don't like the butt face where
there's, like, no hair on your face.
That's the only thing I just can't get with.
It's crazy because that's what I rocked for,
like, the first 37 years of my life.
And then one day I was just like, eh, you know, this is boring.
Let's not do this anymore.
Who else?
Wesley, the mustache.
Having a moment.
Do you like it or not?
I like it.
I'm kind of a baby face
I do my best
I'm part of the patchy tribe
So I'm
Proud member, buddy
I'm not going to shave for November
We're going to see how that works
You're going to go the whole month?
No shave November?
I'm going to go the whole month
No shave November
We're going to see what happens
Alright, are you going to start
With what you have now
Or are you going to go
Clean shave in on October 31st
And then go one full month?
You know what?
I'll get back to you
Alright
Okay
That's fair, I respect it
Speaking of the younger generation
A new survey shows
Parents of Gen Zers
are helping them land jobs.
And look, we've talked about nepo babies before. This is not
anything new, but we're not talking about
just tagging along for job interviews,
which we have also talked about before.
These parents are doing everything from writing resumes
to negotiating offers.
55% of Gen Z workers, though, say they would feel embarrassed if
their mom or dad reached out to their boss without their knowledge.
The report also suggests they
haven't had much time to develop
a professional network like mentorship and career support.
So, Bisma, the idea of letting your parents negotiate on your behalf
or help you land that job, do you like it or not?
I mean, if your parents got it like that, yeah, use them.
But, I mean, I think to the average person,
this is embarrassing, right?
And it also, I don't know, it feels weird.
I feel like we're coddling
the next generation and we're like, you know.
I agree with that.
It's a little strange to me because we didn't have
that and it kind of helped us become independent.
I do agree with that as well.
The one thing I would say, Sean, is that in this day and age
and in this economy, any leg up you can get, why not take?
That's fair.
Yeah, I agree with that.
Like, basically just everything you said, I agree.
Allison, the idea of relying on mom and dad to help you get that job,
whether it's negotiate an offer, write a resume, do you like it or not?
No, Chris.
This is really keeping the kid from being independent.
A parent's job for adult children is to guide, not to take over.
The child is never going to know anything if mom
and dad are doing everything.
I agree with you.
But at the exact same time, Melissa,
anyone negotiating on my behalf, I would prefer
because that's the last thing I actually wanted to ever do.
Absolutely not.
It's bad enough that these last two generations,
Gen Y and Gen Z, are lazy as hell.
And now you're writing resumes and applying for jobs for them.
No.
And you're doing things for them while they're in college.
I don't understand or comprehend what's going on with these parents.
We have to strive to do everything ourselves to get that job,
to go to this interview, to dress ourselves.
Why are they doing this?
This is a bad look.
Absolutely.
This is a hell no.
This is all those helicopter parents who can't let go.
Pinky ring king, pinky ring king, letting mom and dad help you land
that job, negotiate for you, do you like it or not?
All day because my parents are rock stars.
They raised a rock star, so they do rock star things.
they'll not only negotiate for me they'll end up buying the company
and selling it for more
my parents came here worked three jobs got me
to work three jobs we what we are their
american dream i let my parents i trust my parents
with my money they trust me with theirs
so i i'm all for it let my parents do it
but my parents are bosses because they raised a boss baby
there you go wow that's right that's right
In-laws, thank you to everyone joining us in the Zoom room
on this Friday night, starting your weekend with us.
Thank you, Bisma, for joining us.
As always, if people want to follow you for more, how can they do it?
Oh, they can do it at Bisma on Meta and Instagram.
Thank you to everyone streaming with us on Fox Local
and Fox 5 DC's YouTube page as well.
I'll be back with Tony P for the Live Zone primetime at 9 o'clock.
We're talking about World Series.
