Speaking of downtown transportation in the city,
San Francisco Muni service is still shut down
in both directions after a car drove into a Muni tunnel.
SFMTA first reported the incident around
345 yesterday afternoon.
A spokesperson says the car drove onto the trackway by the Embarcadero.
Muni is instead running shuttle buses
and getting mutual aid from BART with trains running between
Balboa Park and Embarcadero.
A KTVU crew on the ground captured this footage of the scene. You
can see the car stopped at the tunnel entrance
a Muni spokesperson says getting that car out of
that tunnel could cause further damage to the tracks
and the lines so that is why crews had
to shut down service along the entire Market Street corridor
as they inspected the track
the SFMTA calls this a private vehicle
and says the driver ditched the car inside the tunnel
local law enforcement was spotted
at the scene again Market Street subway service between Van
and Embarcadero is down no word yet about when it will be restored
