The camps seem endless.
In these white tents, hundreds of displaced families are trying
to escape the renewed fighting in Yemen.
A major offensive from the Houthi rebels against
Yemen's government in September triggered mass displacement among
the civilian population.
While an estimated 1,400 people crossed
into neighboring Djibouti in the early days of
the offensive, most refugees have been internally displaced.
Camps like this one in Aden provide
temporary refuge but the humanitarian situation there
is dire the new displacements add to the
past 12 years of humanitarian crisis as the country has
been caught in the throes of a civil war
and across the globe humanitarian aid programs
and food assistance have seen cuts to their
budgets as organizations like
the UN and the World Food Program struggled to raise the necessary
funds.
Difficulties in accessing basic necessities
and relief assistance will remain a daily
struggle for the displaced families in Yemen.
