Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to 22 News at 4.
I'm Claire Overton.
We'll get to your top four at 4 in just a moment,
but first we always have a look at commuter traffic and weather.
Let's bring in 22 News Storm Team Meteorologist Brian Lapis.
Brian, what can you tell us today?
The weather that we're experiencing right now continues
for the foreseeable future.
That's good.
Minus a few degrees tomorrow.
It's going to be a little bit cooler here tomorrow.
It did get very warm today.
It did.
Got up to 71 in some places.
Very.
In fact, I should check and see if we broke our record today.
We were telling people last time to break out
their winter coats, and now we're in the 70s again.
And it is one of those, we're in one of these sorts of times
of the year where you might need a winter coat early in the morning,
and then short sleeves in the afternoon.
Never know how to dress those days.
Let's take a look.
We're going to try to help you with that, by the way.
Traffic right now, nothing significant happening.
A little bit of a slowdown here at the end of 291.
It usually happens at this time of day as it merges with 91.
The Pike looks good.
91 north of Springfield also looks fine.
Let's take a look at temperatures, shall we?
And look at that.
71 degrees in Westfield.
71 in Greenfield.
69 degrees Springfield, Northampton, and Orange.
And we're in the mid, even low 70s right now in Great Barrington.
So certainly a mild day, bright day here today.
The brightness continues tomorrow.
The cooler air returns, though, tomorrow.
We'll show you with our 22 News Storm Team forecast.
Thanks, Brian.
We begin in Florence, where state police are investigating the cause
of a motorcycle crash on Sunday that left one person dead.
Crews responded to Burt's Pit Road around 7.30
in the evening following a report of a crash.
The operator, a 21-year-old male, was transported
to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Northwestern DA's office,
a preliminary investigation determined that the driver was traveling
east when he left the roadway and crashed into a small group of trees.
We will provide updates on this crash when they become available.
Police in Springfield are investigating a shooting
on Sunday that left one person seriously injured.
Police responded to a shot spotter activation in the area of Burton
and White Streets around 8.30 p.m.
and upon arrival, officers located the victim,
an adult male suffering from gunshot injuries.
He is still recovering at Bay State Medical Center,
and there is no further information at this time.
To stay with 22 News for updates.
Also in Springfield, four people are facing multiple gun charges
after police seized four illegal weapons connected
to separate shootings on Sunday.
Police responded to Jefferson Avenue and Calhoun Street around 7 p.m.
for shot spotter activations and collected a total of 61
shell casings on both streets. Officers say a vehicle
and two homes were damaged from gunfire. The four suspects,
ages 18 to 24, were arrested after two of them
attempted to flee. Witness descriptions and other evidence helped
officers identify and arrest the other two. Now to the Berkshires.
A fire damaged one of the Hoosick Valley train rides rail
cars on Saturday. The car recently underwent a restoration,
but according to officials,
repairs are possible.
Berkshire Scenic Railway Executive Director Melanie Seiden saying in a
response, quote, while this fire was a heavy blow,
our spirit isn't broken. Our entire volunteer crew
is rolling up their sleeves to pull off nothing short
of a holiday miracle. And now let's get
another check at today's weather.
Brian, it was gorgeous outside and very warm. Yeah, I think that
We're going to be just as bright here
tomorrow, but a little bit cooler.
By the way, tomorrow evening, 6.30,
is the East Hampton Rag Shag Parade.
It's a Halloween costume parade.
Okay, very cool.
I didn't know what a rag shag parade was.
Yeah.
It's kind of a, I think that the rag shag thing is kind
of a local vernacular for costume parades around here.
Well, how's the weather checking out for that?
Pretty good.
So, if you want to get some early, little early jump on some candy.
A little rag shag.
Tomorrow, East Hampton, weather should cooperate.
Right now, sunshine, temperatures upper 60s to low 70s,
and we look ahead here, our 22-news storm team skycast.
5 o'clock here this afternoon, scattered clouds through 7 o'clock,
and there'll be scattered clouds here tonight.
There's actually a little push of cooler air
that's going to arrive from the north here
late night tonight, and that will be enough to set off some clouds.
I expect that the weather will stay dry tonight, though.
It'll also pick up a little bit of a breeze overnight,
So you notice a little bit of wind, say, between 9 p.m. and about 4
or 5 a.m. tonight into early tomorrow morning.
So 7 o'clock tomorrow morning, temperatures are in the 30s, we expect.
And then as we move through the day, sunshine 10 o'clock,
noontime, light breeze out of the north,
and high temperatures tomorrow in the mid to upper 50s.
And the dry weather continues potentially into and through the weekend.
We'll show you with our 22 News Storm Team forecast on 22 News at 5.
Thanks, Brian.

but it was a new option that took the number one spot.
DC Studios' Clayface won the weekend with a $24 million debut.
The Nathan Fielder's Elizabeth Holmes documentary,
You Can't See Everything,
finished in second place with just under $20 million.
And the new stop-motion fantasy film,

their new community food pantry.

this pantry will help fight food insecurity in the region.
And of course, we'll tell you how many voters have cast
their ballots for the midterm elections.
Okie dokie, traffic running normally.
A little bit of a slowdown here at the end of 291.
This happens every day at this time of day.
No major problems on the Pike.
No major problems on I-91 north or south of Springfield.
It's just downtown where it's running a little bit slowly.
Dry weather continues tomorrow.
A little cooler.
We'll track temperatures on 22 News starting
at 5 with our 22 News Storm Team forecast.
Claire.
