Back to the win column
for the UT football team after Saturday's thriller at DKR,
but the news isn't all good heading
into this Saturday against Mississippi State.
Fox 7 Sports' Cliff Thornton has more.
Yet another rollercoaster of a game goes
the way of the horns this time,
but with Saturday's thrilling win over
Ole Miss comes yet more adversity.
With Texas now facing the distinct possibility
of playing the rest of the season
without not one but two cornerstones of the program
who are also projected NFL draft first-rounders.
Just a week after losing edge rusher Colin Simmons
for what could be an extended amount of time,
O-lineman Trevor Goosby is reportedly out for the season
with a knee injury suffered on Saturday.
Yeah, that's a big blow.
Trevor is a vocal leader and did everything right,
so just continuing to step up and, you know, back to work this Monday.
I mean, look, it's, you know, I feel really bad for Trevor.
Obviously really unfortunate, but I talked to them yesterday,
and it's just part of the game.
I'm very impressed with how we've handled things emotionally
and been able to put them to the side
and focus on what we need to focus on.
This week's focus is on the two-game losing streak being over.
That's despite the Horns' continued struggles coming out of halftime.
The season-long third-quarter doldrums continued Saturday
as Texas has now been outscored in the third, 31-3 in SEC play.
we gotta um we gotta start fast
in the second half i feel like we've done a good job in the
past few weeks of you know the first drive being pretty good
for the most part and we got to
continue that in the third quarter on offense
the most frustrating part is like here's what we're
gonna do now let's go do it
and historically that's been good to us it just hasn't been that
way this year and so like everything i'm
not opposed to making subtle tweaks and changes to
what we do at halftime so there'll be probably
a couple things we do different this Saturday night
we're focused on what's right in front of us it's 1-0 this week
and putting forth the right
effort energy in practice
and then taking practice to the game and that's something
that we did well Saturday I think we can do it even better.
