It begins with a major break in a D.C. double murder.
Tonight, police have arrested two people
in the deadly shooting of a pair of young boys in Northeast.
So this arrest comes six months after the boys were gunned down.
Fox 5's Tisha Lewis is in Northwest tonight
with what police say led to the arrest.
Well, we just found out Antonio Terry and also Markell Woodings
are the two suspects that are currently in custody.
But investigators are still searching for a third suspect.
D.C. Police Interim Chief Jeffrey Carroll saying
that these two children who were struck and killed
were in fact targeted. Disturbing to say the least.
This is all apparently the outcome and
stems from some type of beef, we're told,
in between two different neighborhoods.
The interim chief going on to say
the two children, 12 and 14 years old, again,
were in fact targeted. Today's update
on the double homicide comes six months after police
say the young victims were shot and killed on Tuesday,
April 14th, shortly after 3 p.m.
The shooting took place on Kenilworth Avenue Northeast after
a stolen black Honda drove up
to the Circle 7 Express Store parking lot.
Investigators say three masked men got out the
car and opened fire.
14-year-old Tayel Coates was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim,
12-year-old Milo Young,
was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Police say
both victims live in Northeast D.C.
There was some of the shell casings
we were able to obtain DNA
and get some rush,
some responses back to that.
That was able to kind of point us
in a direction,
a potential direction
towards one of the suspects
that we were able to tie in
using social media
and some other methods
that were in there.
So it was instrumental.
And again, different methods
to kind of bolster
the probable cause in this case.
Milo wasn't the only one
that was shot.
We all were shot.
We all were shot.
you know that he didn't just shoot him he shot all of us
and that was one of the victim's family
members shortly after the shooting meanwhile
the suspects are being held on no bond a preliminary
hearing is scheduled for november 9th police say
a 25,000 reward is being offered for information
that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case for each homicide
