Today’s video is from two calls with difficult access. #hvac #hvaclife #fieldpiece #noaccess #hackjob
I had a couple of calls today where the installers
must have been doing crack or something.
I'm gonna try to show them both to you.
Got
no
call.
Maybe
I
am
gonna
have
pull
this
motor.
What
does
this
go
to?
Looks
like
a
power
wire.
All
right
we're
gonna
go
through.
My
screw
here
is
missing.
We're
gonna
go
through
ohming
this
out.
Ohm everything to ground. You see that?
I'm showing mega ohms to ground.
I don't need to
see nothing else. It needs a new motor.
All right now to now to check and see if it's under warranty.
this orange wire goes up here
but you know these wires can
be well there's
no good place for them
so i just need
to remember to hook
that back up warranty
work so um we
are on our way to get
squeeze
in
that
closet
install
it
slid
down
a
little
bit
for
me
to
come
out
between
those
two
it
looks
like
that
is
set
closer
to
the
bottom
wants
to
come
out
right
here
So
we
need
to
squeeze
in that little closet if we ever have to do a coil
on that thing all those shelves are going to have
have
to come
out orange
is going
to neutral
pull
this out a
little bit
that's one
the next
is g
not that one but one
that have different size connectors
on them and this one goes straight
ground
the next one's
gonna be my
black which
is power all
right that's
brown here's
my black
sweat
on my
glasses
and i
can't
see last
one is
common
that's
brown
green
on one
blower
motor
let's
check
that
that
try go
get
some
launch
and
know
what i
might
be
able
to get
i
might
be
able
to get
the
blower out but look at
this that is ridiculous
ain't no way to get coal out
that is unreal
all right let's go look outside
that air handler i don't see how
in the world you can't get it out
without cutting some
of the two by fours you
can't get that coal out
at all i'm seeing
a few little
ants
contactor
contactors
pulled
in you
might
not be
able
to see it
but 240
nothing
yeah
that's
me a real easy contactor to replace
you're right all right let's make
sure nothing check the ground
first of all i can't
hardly see anything
because i think
i'm gonna have
to zip tie some of that
stuff together just to be able to work on this i
do not know what i'm gonna find when i get this
thing up and running it had no filter
and as you can see both my pressure switches have been
bypassed
the
rain
on me
let me
get my
umbrella
it is
pouring
this
little
umbrella
is a
lifesaver
answer that phone sometimes most
of the time i just let it go
to voicemail but that was somebody
all right now that we got all this hooked up we
got uh this is just they could have put this
contactor up
a little higher
hard to see but
ants got into it
so we're about to
fire this thing up
and let's see how it goes meter
was in the rain just
a second ago check and see if i
all right
i got
a call
see what
before i
put that
power back
to it that's
my ground
wire
comes
awfully
close
to my
power
right
there
let's
just
check
head
pressure
real
quick
basically
that
return
had
three
other
returns
in it so
putting
a
filter
in it
ain't
gonna
do
no good one up here but i'm gonna have to take this duct loose
and bend that little
i don't know if you can see it the tab back
is sticking out i'm glad i went back and looked
because there are three other returns
and the only place to put a filter is in the air handler
And you can tell it's never had a filter.
I took a picture of the model and serial number. That's a 2012.
So that thing's been running nine years with no filter.
I don't know how in the world it has continued to work.
But I'm going to put a filter in it now.
I'll be back up here tomorrow to crawl in that attic.
