Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe technician replaces a faulty condenser fan motor in an apartment complex. After verifying that the unit had power and a functional capacitor, but the motor remained stationary, the technician installed a new motor, spliced the wiring to ensure correct rotation, and successfully restored the cooling system.
We are at the same apartment complex I was on this morning.
I came out to this one
and the condenser fan motor was not turning.
I verified that it was getting voltage.
I checked from
here to here.
I was getting voltage and my capacitor was good,
but the condenser fan motor was not turning.
So we're fixing to replace that motor.
To
make
sure
that
that
plug
was
in
the
top
of
it,
i removed the plug from here
but i didn't remember seeing a plug in the top so i pulled so i pulled
it all apart and there
is a plug in the top we need
this to turn
clockwise shaft in so
counterclockwise leading clockwise leading
and rotation so we need it to turn clockwise
shaft in so
counterclockwise
leading
are not
long
enough
so we
are about
to see i'm
splicing
the white and the brown with the white stripe
together that's my run winding and that's going
to
purple
of
course
brown
to
brown
on
these
motors
if
there's
nothing
obstructing
the
blade
from
turning as long as i'm getting voltage
and my capacitor is good if that motor is not turning
it's time to replace it there's no need to ohm out windings
or just it's different from a compressor
you just if it's getting voltage and the capacitor is good
and there's nothing blocking the thing
from turning it's time to replace
your motor all right remember purple was hooked to my white wires
which is my run and if you follow this wire right here this is run
because it feeds the capacitor
so we're going to the we're going to the top
of the capacitor right here and this brown one
is going over to fan if i
can get it over there got
those hooked up and of
course black just goes
all right we gotta
i think i got
the rotation right
but we're fixing
to check it
our
word
we
checked
out
good
on
this
one
it's
already
sweating
back
so
she's
now
cool
