A quick-thinking woman and a good Samaritan are at the center
of a frightening kidnapping case out of Round Rock.
A woman says she was held against her will for about 24 hours
with her partner, who was repeatedly threatening to kill her.
At a stop at a gas station,
that gave her a chance to ask a complete stranger for help.
Good day, Austin.
Juliana Jackson joins us now with more
on the moments that led to an arrest.
Morning, Juliana.
Good morning, Katie and Dave.
The Round Rock police say that a woman
was being held against her will at this gas station
when she realized that she could take a chance to ask for help.
She turned to a complete stranger who thankfully stepped in to help.
On your screen, you'll see a body camera footage video
and you can see the Good Samaritan walking up to police after taking
a photo of the pickup truck and calling for help at this gas station.
Inside the truck was a woman who investigators say had
been held against her will for more than a day.
This happened Saturday evening
at the Breefield gas station along East Palm Valley Boulevard.
She later told investigators her partner had been driving
her around Central Texas for more than 24 hours,
repeatedly threatening to kill her.
And when that good Samaritan came back to the truck,
the woman was desperate for help.
She opened the door when I was coming back.
She was scared to death. She just barely opened it.
The man accused in this case,
29-year-old Zachary Joe Scori
of Pflugerville,
was arrested that night.
He's now facing a first-degree felony charge of aggravated kidnapping
and is in the Williamson County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
The Good Samaritan in those clips is now being recognized
for stepping in and helping in this extremely dangerous situation.
