Grotrian-Steinweg Grand Pianos 🎹 | Legendary German Craftsmanship | Hollywood Piano Oktoberfest

This is the Artist Pianos showroom at Hollywood Piano. We call it Artist Pianos of Los Angeles. In this room is the greatest collection of premium pianos in the United States where you'll see every possible selection of styles and finishes from the greatest pianos of Europe. Today, we're going to feature this piano. Another piano we're honoring during our Oktoberfest piano sale is the great Estonia piano from Tallinn, Estonia. We've had a long association with this piano. It started back in the 90s, long before the new owner, Indrek Glau took over the company in the 90s. And while the instruments were really good even then, they needed lots and lots of work. You know, Indrek Glau is a very interesting story. Indrek Glau was a Ph.D. piano candidate at the famous Juilliard School in New York. And he started buying up the stock of this company during Soviet times and eventually wound up owning the controlling interest in the company and owning the company. And he took what had been a very good piano to a level that's as good as... anything made in the world today. Estonia piano making goes back to 1893 and a man named Hiss. But even before that, they were making pianos in Estonia. And if you know anything about the country of Estonia, it's a country where they really appreciate music. In fact, they have large sing-along festivals every year in this country. And Indrek is a concert pianist and oversees the production of the piano. You know, every Estonia piano is played by Indrek Glau personally before it gets released. He inspects and plays. Now, it had been a family business with his father, who we knew also, and his mother there. His mother is also a very fine pianist, and she tests the pianos. Now Indrek tests every piano, makes sure it's ready to go. There's no other piano company that I know of where the owner... Personally looks at every single piano before it leaves that factory, but that's why these pianos are so special. And because the cost of labor in Estonia is less than other parts of Europe, the pianos are still a tremendous value. Now, the parts... ...are very similar to what's used in other premium European pianos, Renner Actions or Renner Actions, and strings, hammers, et cetera, cost the same no matter what. But they have a big advantage in labor costs there, because it's not so easy for someone in Estonia to cross the water and get to the rest of Europe. So they have a sort of captive workforce there. And that allows them to produce a really world-class instrument at a phenomenal value. So I'd encourage you to come during our Oktoberfest and take a look at these exquisite instruments. We have them in multiple sizes here at Hollywood Piano. Come in and visit us at 499 South Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena, or call us at 1-800-MY-PIANO. That's 1-800-MY-PIANO.
