The discussion extends to team outlooks for the Chiefs, Bills, and Rams, NBA highlights featuring the Knicks and Celtics, a dramatic World Series recap, and a scathing critique of the WNBA's scheduling management.
I think Jonathan Taylor would be a dream for John Harbaugh.
And I think that as great
as Cam Scarbrough played last week against Houston,
does Harbaugh really love him or trust him?
Can you imagine the Giants with Jonathan Taylor, Malik Neighbors,
a quarterback who completes the forward pass,
toughness of a John Harbaugh team,
not only meaningful games in December and down the stretch,
but a home playoff game?
It would be amazing.
It's trade season
in the NFL,
officially upon us.
A couple of all pros from the Indianapolis Colts traded yesterday
to powerhouse teams in the National Football League.
And if you are a fan of the NFL, a fan of the 49ers,
a fan of the Seattle Seahawks, you've got to love sports.
How about DeForest Buckner?
You can go home again.
I mean, this is a terrific deal for the San Francisco 49ers.
Remember, DeForest Buckner, who's 32 years old,
last year of his contract,
Colts obviously breaking it down to build it back up.
They fired the GM.
They're in rebuilding mode.
The San Francisco 49ers had DeForest Buckner, drafted him.
He was a star for them.
And then out of nowhere, John Lynch, their general manager,
called it one of the toughest moves he's ever made.
2020 shipped him to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round pick.
DeForest Buckner's 32 years old,
but he is still playing like an absolute superstar
and an absolute stud.
And you look at it, four sacks already this year.
He is terrorizing the opposition.
The defensive line for the San Francisco 49ers
is just besieged by injuries.
Nick Bosa should be coming back off the bye week.
Now you have DeForest Buckner.
Everyone loves playing for the Niners,
so Buckner is going to be thrilled to go home again,
just like Debo Samuel is thrilled to go home,
just like Trent Greenlaw is thrilled to go home.
And this is a great example of the Niners
and a phenomenal brass with John Lynch, with Kyle Shanahan.
See a problem, fix a problem.
All these injuries on the defensive line, bam, we're going for it.
6-0 start, lose a game for the first time all year, 6-1.
People like me, not going to downgrade them,
but they're going for the Super Bowl.
Like, making the playoffs, winning a division,
that's not the expectation anymore in San Francisco.
It's how do we find a way to go out and win a championship.
And I just love this.
And the Niners, it's been kind
of miraculous what they've been able to do.
Just amazing.
When you take a look at San Francisco
and this incredible start and the way Purdy's playing,
considering everybody's hurt, it's like cue up REM.
I mean, it's kind of crazy.
every single wide receiver was injured this past week
so this is the right move at the right time
and I think San Francisco as we speak is the best team
in the NFC I know what the Vikings record
says we've talked about them
and I think Minnesota is legit I don't think they're frauds but I think
Chicago is actually the better team in that division
and I think San Francisco is the team
to beat if we were doing
a Shine Time power ranking, San Francisco's number one right now
in the NFC and I think number two is Seattle
and the way the Seahawks attacked the trade deadline
yesterday two weeks before the deadline they
are coming off of the most incredible possible win
the way that they look like Super Bowl champs resembled
the team that we saw last year for the
first time all year where they beat
the hell out of the Kansas City Chiefs
and they go out and take advantage of the Colts fire sale
and they make a trade for Quenton Nelson
Quenton Nelson is one of the two best guards in the NFL
Every single year since he came out of Notre Dame 2018 draft,
I've been saying Quenton Nelson or voting for Quenton Nelson
first team, second team, All-Pro
Now you're going to have Quenton Nelson and Gray Zabel
who I voted for Offensive Rookie of the Year last year.
He's been fantastic.
they are going to be the greatest guard combo
in the entire league the Seahawks don't rest when
you take a look at their ability to see a problem fix a problem
and you know last week was great
prior weeks they were having trouble running
the ball Sam Darnold getting knocked on his
career a little bit too much
so they beef up the offensive line and this is John Schneider
this is who he is this is what he does
the great general manager for the Seahawks where last year
They had the need for speed
They traded for Rashid Shaheed, and that helped them win a Super Bowl
Then the year before, it was Ernest Jones.
The year before that, it was Leonard Williams.
These are guys who are instrumental in winning a Super Bowl.
So this is terrific, terrific stuff
and that's what I think helped the San Francisco 49ers
in terms of making sure that they took advantage
of the Colts' fire sale,
and they got the Forest Buckner.
So I thought that was an unbelievable day yesterday for Buzz,
for an arms race in the
NFC, arms race in the NFC West, because these teams are gearing up.
Seattle for back-to-back.
San Francisco, they've been the best team
in the league, in my opinion, in the NFC,
not the undefeated Vikings.
All season long, when you look at the Niners,
they see one loss, they go out, they get the
perfect guy, knows the coaching staff,
knows the structure, knows all the veterans, been
there before.
this will be a seamless transition what
an unbelievable trade for the San Francisco 49ers
especially on the heels of what Seattle did
this is a championship caliber move by San Francisco
so the Indianapolis Colts are breaking it down
and they have to because you know the team's a mess
and they fired their general manager should have been fired years ago
and the big winner in addition
to Seattle and in addition to San Francisco
the Jets how about the day the Jets had yesterday
are you kidding me if the season ended today
and it doesn't look at where the Jets would be
picking in the upcoming draft
and here's the beauty of this right and obviously there's going
to be a lot of movement the Colts are only going to get worse
so the fact that the Jets have the
Colts pick this is unbelievable and that Sauce Gardner deal
and when the Indianapolis Colts made
it 365 days ago eight and one team you know they
were thinking they were going to ultimately get
home field with the AFC and they didn't even make
the playoffs after Daniel Jones got hurt and again
Chris Ballard their general manager now former
general manager he didn't have a legit backup
quarterback. So that's what you get.
Jets are going to take advantage of this. I mean,
if you're a Jets fan, you just lost to Miami.
You know what you could do? You could stare at
that board all day in terms of ultimately looking at the draft picks
and the draft capital that's
going to be available.
You know, that was a deal when Luigi made it where you said, okay,
I get it. And I think Dallas won the Quinn Williams deal.
I'm a big Quinn Williams fan,
But Quinn Williams didn't want to be there,
so you get an extra draft pick.
So the fact that you can have, okay,
and I do think Dallas is going to go on a winning streak.
We've talked about that.
So I think the Dallas pick is actually going to be lower.
I think the Colts pick is going to be higher.
And I think because, you know,
the Jets and Aaron Glenn have no idea what they're doing,
the Jets pick could be higher.
This gives the Jets flexibility.
They need domination on defense.
You know, obviously they need a young quarterback.
gives them some options in terms
of trading up trading back trading for a veteran at a specific
position i think this is awesome
the the Colts selling makes the New York Jets a huge winner
and listen after losing to the Miami Dolphins
who have a lead all season long before coming to the
Meadowlands and you know Aaron Glenn what
a pathetic gutless disgrace of a gutless puke
performance that was the jets fans have something
to smile about all year long you're rooting for
the cowboys to lose and the Colts to lose
the Colts selling that is christmas before halloween
if you're a fan of the jets
is jonathan taylor gonna get traded that is one of the nfls
jt i saw your wife shared a video on instagram
or twitter about you and your future how do you
feel about that being out there
and do you have any type of response to that i think it's been
out there already so i think her adding
to it doesn't really change anything uh you know
everybody's on tiktok these days
so you know you just have to come into work and stay focused
Welcome to the NFL in 2026, you're
not just following breaking news alerts from noted
insiders, you're following the social media habits from players
and their wives. Burning questions
start with this: Is Jonathan Taylor going to get traded?
Should the Colts trade him? And who should
be interested in Jonathan Taylor?
Look, I think for the Colts, this is a fascinating one because
Jim Irsay, the owner for the Indianapolis Colts,
loves Jonathan Taylor, just gave Jonathan
Taylor an extension. Jonathan Taylor checks every single box
as a superstar for the Indianapolis
Colts. He's the guy who is on the marquee.
He's on the season ticket email. He is a future
Hall of Famer who's played unbelievable this season.
Phenomenal last year. Great in the
community. He is everything you want in a face of a franchise.
It's also a franchise
that doesn't have a first round pick next year
and has an interim GM and doesn't have
a quarterback. And this whole team is a mess.
So first of all, let's start there. It's not
a no-brainer that they trade him in the owner's eyes.
If I'm running the Indianapolis Colts,
I would absolutely shop till I drop here on Jonathan Taylor
and create a market. I think
right now, today, you get a second round pick
in compensation for Jonathan Taylor. If the Minnesota
Vikings win against Detroit, and I think that they will,
I could make the case they should give up a
first-round pick. I think Minnesota is the absolute perfect fit,
number one team for Jonathan Taylor.
It would be incredible because their defense is unbelievable.
I don't know how great with
Kyler Murray that passing attack is going to be,
but with Jonathan Taylor, they can get the one
seed. They can hold off Chicago in the division.
with Flores' defense, with Justin Jefferson,
Jonathan Taylor, you can live with Kyler at quarterback.
I think this would be a move that
would be amazing for the Vikings this year,
next year, into the future, and beyond. And
I think Minnesota should be at the top
of the list of teams that would make the trade
for Jonathan Taylor.
Number two on the list, the New York Football Giants. He's from New
Jersey. I think Jonathan Taylor would be a dream for John Harbaugh.
And I think that
As great as Cam Akers played last week against Houston,
does Harbaugh really love him or trust him?
You take a look at the depth charts at running back
and Tyrone Tracy on the injured reserve, they cut Najee Harris.
Devin Singletary had an amazing run,
which was incredible to win in overtime.
I don't necessarily think the brass loves him.
Obviously, I love J.J. McCarthy.
We'll get to him in a little bit.
But I think Jonathan Taylor can instantly, with Malik Nabers,
provide this unbelievable punch of pop and sizzle and domination
and a couple of special players
that will keep defensive coordinators up at night.
And I think it would help
the New York football giants ultimately hold off the Dallas Cowboys.
It would be a business decision for ownership
because you could have a home playoff game.
What a concept.
You would have a couple of offensive players who'd be must-see TV.
Also, what a concept.
The Giants have been so bad for a decade and,
frankly, so unappealing to the eye.
Can you imagine the Giants with Jonathan Taylor, Malik Nabors,
a quarterback who completes the forward pass,
toughness of a John Harbaugh team,
not only meaningful games in December and down the stretch,
but a home playoff game?
It would be amazing.
And what have we said about the Harbaugh Giants consistently?
It's all about 2027.
This year has been fun, exciting.
Giants are back.
But this is the kind of move that would put
the 2027 Giants in position to be great.
So I don't think the Giants, because they're
not going to stack up enough wins,
I don't think they would offer a first-round pick,
a two and change, a two plus.
I would absolutely do that for Jonathan Taylor.
Special player, special person.
He would be fantastic.
Look, you could argue the Broncos, the Packers.
I know Seattle and Indianapolis just got together
in the Quenton Nelson deal.
Seattle could make some sense.
Other teams as well.
But I think the Minnesota Vikings and the New York football Giants
should be all over the Indianapolis Colts for Jonathan Taylor.
Even if he's not available now, make him available.
I think that he would be a rock star in New York with Big Blue.
Question two.
Would Marcus Freeman want the Jets' job?
Right now, no.
I think it's impossible to argue that the Jets' job
is better than the Notre Dame job.
Marcus Freeman has one of the great football jobs on the planet,
coaching Notre Dame.
He turned down the Giants, and that's more a fact than it is opinion.
I do think Marcus Freeman at some point is going to be an NFL coach
and a fabulous NFL coach.
I think there's a real shot, especially if and when they beat Miami,
and I predict that that's going to happen.
Listen, I think he can win a championship this year.
I think Marcus Freeman can be in the Final Four,
play in the championship game.
And if he gets to a certain level,
then maybe he'd be more inclined
to ultimately leave the Fighting Irish.
But would it be for the Jets?
look the draft picks available in the first round
that's obviously a big deal because Marcus Freeman
if he likes the quarterback class could basically pick someone he wants
and we're talking about you
know having three top picks talking about taking
a couple of them trading off packaging them and
getting a quarterback that he loves
on the collegiate level the problem of course is
Woody Johnson so can we get if you're Marcus Freeman assurances
that Woody will lock himself
in the closet you know
that's make sure he's hands off you know does he like Muji as a general
manager he should i think he's you know a check in the box of pros
and cons that would be a positive
here for Marcus Freeman but he turned down
the Giants last year would he take the Jets this time
rounds? I think it would be a coup for the Jets.
I'm skeptical that Marcus Freeman would see this
as an upgrade for his career.
Topic three, can J.J. McCarthy be the Giants' long-term quarterback?
The short answer is yes,
and this is in all due respect to Jackson Dart, and I'm a big Jackson
Dart fan. I thought the Giants cleaned up
in the draft a couple years ago when they got Carter
and Dart, and I thought Jackson Dart,
I liked him in the draft process more than most. I thought
the Saints should have taken him in the top 10
and I think Jackson Dart's going to be in theory
if he's healthy an amazing quarterback
but Jackson Dart two years in the league has been injured and
he just ripped up his knees and now here's J.J. McCarthy
and J.J. McCarthy was a better prospect
coming out of Michigan than Dart was coming out of Ole Miss
so you see what J.J. McCarthy did
against the Houston Texans, and honestly, I love this.
And I love his talent and his ability and just how sensational he is.
And, you know, the way that Harbaugh ultimately, at the end of the day,
Harbaugh fills him with confidence, and he needed a change of scenery.
And I think this is why he gave up the fifth-round pick,
and we were riding ahead of the curve on all of this.
This is also not a fluke if you're in the change-of-scenery camp here
with J.J. McCarthy, you have to, at the end of the day,
believe that he can be as good or better than Jackson Dart.
So, worst-case scenario, his insurance,
if in fact Dart, who's a great athlete,
comes back and he's not ready to run around after knee surgery.
But, of course, and I don't want to hear that this is just one game
and one quarter against New Orleans.
This is why the Giants made the deal.
so this is a real topic so the answer is can he yes of course he can
and i think the giants are
going to be open-minded about this i would
also love to know deep down what the giants brass
current brass harbaugh when he was in baltimore
and again his brother won a championship with
jj mccarthy what did they think of jj mccarthy
as a prospect coming out of michigan this is not in
any way shape or form trying to throw shade at jackson dart
because i certainly not only took
the cheese on dart i'm a huge fan of jackson dart jackson dart
is a hypothetical because of health
now maybe mccarthy's a hypothetical
because of other things as well but the short answer and i
like the way we phrase this can mccarthy become
the giants long-term quarterback yes of course
he can Topic four what's up with lamar jackson
so we're now at this weird stage again with lamar and his
health and ambiguity and reports and shooting down reports
and you know did he ultimately get
hurt again in practice and you know can he play 100 should he play
when he's not 100 is he 100
percent you know last week i told you all week here
on shine time that i was skeptical that
lamar jackson was actually going to play i was skeptical
because it just didn't feel and sound
and i'm pretty good at interpreting lamar
and the ravens and you know the baltimore pr staff is
fantastic and i'm listening to the coach speak
on it something's off something's been off with
lamar with injuries when harbaugh
was the coach something's just not right in theory you want to
Say, yeah, of course he'll play.
It's the Ravens off a loss, and Baltimore,
and Lamar taking on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
That's a marquee matchup.
That's a heavyweight showdown.
Something's not right.
Ravens, by the way, have the best plus minus
in the NFL in the first half of the game.
The worst in the second half of the game.
I'm not going to declare anything
on Lamar until I see him on the field.
All I know is they are going to finish in last place in that division.
If they don't get Jackson back, get Jackson back in action.
And if they lose, even if Lamar plays,
if they lose against the Buffalo Bills,
I don't know how they make the playoffs.
Seriously.
Question five.
Are the Kansas City Chiefs in trouble?
The answer is yes.
They are in trouble.
And I know what the record says, and I understand it, and I get it.
How about Andy Reid signing Justin Tucker today, the practice squad?
See how that pans out.
Listen, I think Kansas City got punched
in the face against the Seattle Seahawks.
And I think that when you look at it, I think
that that was an example of what's going to happen to Kansas City
when they go up against better teams.
Because if Kenneth Walker is not able to run the ball,
this team just isn't very good.
They don't have the requisite wide receivers.
The defense is not special.
Special teams, Harrison Butker kicking
the ball has been awful this year.
And if Denver's healthy, and we don't know
if Denver's healthy quite yet.
We don't know if Denver is healthy.
If Denver is healthy, that's a problem.
That's going to be a...
No, let's see if Jalen Waddle's healthy.
Let's see if Patrick Sertan is healthy.
So I'm not ready to pick the winner of this game yet.
But do I think the Chiefs are going
to make some kind of run to the Super Bowl?
No.
And you know that I was ranking teams like Buffalo
and Jacksonville in the AFC
ahead of Kansas City, even when the Chiefs were undefeated.
So this is not hyperbole. This is not
exaggeration. I genuinely think that Kansas City is in trouble.
Question six. Are the Rams back?
This is loaded. The answer is yes, sort of.
Let's go back to the start of the show. The Seahawks,
at the end of the day, make an unbelievable trade.
The Niners, at the end of the day,
make an unbelievable trade
and the Rams are looking up at those teams because of all those
grotesque awful losses earlier in the season Rams had
a great win against the Raiders the schedule
is ridiculously favorable I think Sean McVay is going to be feisty
and fired up and it's going
to be amazing here
when you take a look at ultimately what I think the Rams can do moving
it forward here for Los Angeles in the second half of the season.
Kellen is there.
Miles Garrett is coming back.
I firmly believe in the Los Angeles Rams.
Having said all that,
I think that they have a road to climb because I don't see Seattle
dipping.
I don't see a team like the 49ers dipping.
I think the Rams, at the end of the day,
ultimately, when it's all said and done,
We'll be back.
We'll make the playoffs.
I love the head coach.
I love the quarterback.
They've got a boatload of injuries.
I don't think there's any question about that.
But I think the Rams are back with that win.
They need to get your shorts on straight kind of game, right?
Just get back to basics and focus and good football, good vibes.
And I think the Rams, I still believe this,
even if they're third in the division, will make the playoffs.
in 2026. Topic 7.
Are the Bills still my pick to win the Super Bowl?
The answer is yes. And originally, if you remember,
it was Bills-Rams.
I would alter it now
to Bills-Niners.
I'm not ready to write off the Rams
as we said. How about Josh Allen?
This cat's unbelievable. This guy
is going to win the MVP.
I think, if you look at it, Bills are the first
team to rank first in offensive points
per drive. 32nd in
defensive points per drive.
best and the worst both sides of the ball this late
in the season since the 2016 Atlanta Falcons
and that tells me this offense
and DJ Moore is coming back Josh Allen James Cook and company
they're unbelievable absolutely sensational I
still believe they have talent on defense a
great coaching with Jim Leonard I
also think historically Brandon Bean always is active and
tries to add talent at the trade
deadline. I still think
it's Josh Allen's time to shine.
I haven't seen a team
that I'm convinced that would
beat Buffalo this postseason.
There are other really good teams, and again,
I give you those defensive stats. I don't
want to sit here and say, well, the Buffalo
Bills, they're a lock.
They're a shoo-in. They don't have any flaws. No.
Their defense has been
bad to start the season. I still think
they have the coaching. I still think they have the talent.
I just need the defense to be good.
Like from week 8 on,
can they be defense 16 instead of 32?
An average run-of-the-mill defense?
If they're average on defense, they're going to win the Super Bowl.
And that was what I believed before the season.
They could be defense 10 through 16 in the NFL.
Because Josh Allen is the single best player in the NFL.
He's a certified freak.
Seven days a week.
Especially on Sundays.
I'm obsessed with them. I can't get enough.
And the way they've dealt with injuries,
the way the offense has dealt with the issues
in terms of how bad the defense has been,
really amazing, really inspiring,
great stuff here from Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
They remain my pick for the Super Bowl.
You, Northern Virginia kid going to William
and Mary. I mean, to have a moment like this,
obviously, you know, in the moments after it's
It's hard to probably encapsulate,
but just how surreal is it on your end
to have this kind of a big moment in the World Series?
Yeah, I mean, it's what you dream of growing up.
You know, you play wiffle ball in the backyard with your friends,
and you're dreaming of hitting a walk-off in the World Series.
And, I mean, to fight like the way the team thought tonight
to get me into that situation and to get runners on
and just to have that moment for me was huge for me.
Listen, that's why I love sports.
Ben Williamson, not a household name,
steps up and has a chopper in the bottom of the 12th to save the season
and a walk-off for the
Tampa Rays. First of all, that game last night was a banger.
That was one of the best postseason games
that we've seen. It was just incredible.
Everything hanging in the balance. Milwaukee,
opportunity to win a championship for the first time
in franchise history. It felt like a Milwaukee
home game and then it looked like it
was over right i mean cooper pratt hits the homer and
honestly i thought for sure
and i was on the teeter-totter i'm always honest with you i almost
went to bed i would have missed tampa winning
because you have seen milwaukee just come back
in all these games find ways to win brewers
are inevitable absolutely sensational so cooper pratt
hits the homer it's over i think they got
a little weird in the bottom of that inning third
baseman makes a bad throw first baseman had
a chance to scoop it bowers couldn't do it
Caminero just busted his ass down first base he got hurt
was not a hundred percent and then
on a single he busts it to third to have
to pinch run was said Mullins for him because
He can't even walk, let alone run, but he made sure he got the first.
He made sure he got the third.
DeLuca comes through.
They tie the game.
Bases are loaded.
Williamson with the chopper.
Just incredible.
And this is literally and figuratively a ray of hope.
And the whole game was intense.
I mean, every single pitch mattered.
Simpson on the bases.
Simpson with base hits galore.
Simpson in the outfield.
I mean, Chandler Simpson is just an incredible,
incredible ball player to watch.
So much fun.
Everything right with baseball.
I thought Pat Murphy screwed up royally last night.
I don't get to say this often, and Pat Murphy's unbelievable.
I thought he completely fouled up.
McGill, two outs in the eighth.
That was insane to me that he didn't go more than just five pitches.
First of all, the situation didn't even call for McGill.
Let's be crystal clear about that.
All right, you're going to do it.
trying to win the World Series, he's got to go longer.
I mean, this is your closer.
It's the best closer available in the playoffs.
Second best closer in the National League.
I mean, what are we doing here?
It's like Mason Miller-McGill.
Let's go.
And the fact that he only had Ashby
for seven outs should have extended him.
He managed that game like he was going to bring Mizorowski out.
And by the way, I would have never
in a million years pitched Miz last night
because you're up 3-0 in the World Series.
Mizorowski starts game five tonight, so I would have never done it,
but he managed like he was going to do it.
So because he wasted McGill and got Ashby out early too,
they're pitching guys who are not part of the unbelievable, majestic,
all-time playoff regular season bullpen core
that has taken you as far as
being nine innings away from winning a World Series.
So, oh, what the hell Murph was doing?
Listen, the same momentum in baseball
as your next day's starting pitcher.
Mizorowski on the bump tonight is huge.
But I felt like last night was just a wild turn
of events that gave the Rays some life.
And, you know, that whole stadium is a dump.
Obviously, fans don't want to go there who are Rays fans.
They'd rather be home.
Brewers fans anticipating a championship.
They're watching it in Tampa, in Florida,
because they want to see their team win.
I think Milwaukee needs to treat tonight like a must-win.
You know, I'm not getting crazy here in any way, shape, or form.
It's only the fifth time out of 26 times that we have seen
a team down 0-3 win a game in the World Series.
The previous four all lost.
But that tells you something about the heart,
the soul, the manager with Kevin Cash.
Look, the Brewers are better.
Brewers are going to win the World Series.
But I was so impressed with what Tampa did, how Tampa did it.
And Pat Murphy opened that door a little bit.
That was a bad job by the Brewers last night.
Great job by the Rays.
man this world series i don't want to hear about market size
or payrolls game one was sensational
game two was sensational game four extra innings i'm exhausted today
that was an all-time classic
that was incredible so i can't stress enough how great
this world series has been i hope it goes
back to milwaukee selfishly i want more baseball i don't think
the rays have been bad enough they're
not as good as the brewers brewers have better bats brewers
with a better team brewers with a
a better regular season team better postseason team i would
be upset if i was a Rays fan if
we didn't get it to at least
a game six could have won game one could have won game two i can't wait
to see the drama unfold tonight i'm trying
on hoops now my knicks finally got it done get win
one in their championship defense season i think
most importantly uh we gotta remember that you
know Rome wasn't built in a day
this is a new year new new team um adversity started early so
so when you watch the knicks last night
and it's their first victory since nixon five and
they won a championship you just have to exhale
and frankly the way this game started last night
i was getting a little nervous 37 13 third quarter
against detroit solid team well coached team i
mean that was exactly what the doctor ordered i thought brunson
was terrific i thought hey
And Mikal Bridges, who put it
at water below both first three games of the season,
I thought he was awesome, especially from three.
And Cat was the best player on the floor.
27 points, 20 rebounds, absolutely incredible stuff.
Loved every single second of what we were able to see from these guys.
Needed a win.
You could take a breath.
You could exhale.
That was absolutely, positively incredible.
Needed it.
Meanwhile, the Internet Celtics game was nearly indescribable.
indescribable but you know that's what they paid me
for watch this to inbound he missed an open
ellis he finds brown who goes up
and hits the shot again time is winding down right here there
it is opportunity inbounds it to him jason tatum
for the win yes that's bro for the franchise i
mean let's be honest by the way this whole thing
was crazy i mean insane how about the fact that
our old friend Mitchell Robinson missed a couple
of free throws in the waning moments of regulation.
Of course he did. Loved Mitch. Thank you for the championship.
But paying him that contract in
Boston for the Celtics never made any sense.
Good for Mitch. Got his bag. Look at this. I mean,
every Knicks fan in America saying, yep, seen that before.
And then you see Brown. What can
Brown do for you at the buzzer? Bang! That was incredible.
And I'm getting all these tweets from
all these you know Nets fans oh shine you said
for the franchise well how about that I mean
missed layups missed bunnies all sorts
of issues you know just a terrible job when you take a look
at what transpired in in overtime he had no sense
and feel of the clock and nothing in terms of what
ultimately was going to transpire and it was a complete
and utter mess when you looked at Brown
down the stretch of this game so i was extremely disappointed
and what we saw from Brown it was
zany from a Brooklyn perspective i mean he literally missed
not one but two layups this
one right here then i and Sarah Kustok
was brilliant on the S network i don't know why
he's even taking the shot with that much time left
because by doing that it gives Jason Tatum
and the Boston Celtics an opportunity for this.
And look at how calm Tatum is.
Take that, Jalen Brown.
I mean, just a thing of beauty if you're a fan of the Celtics
and a nightmare for the winless, pathetic, gutterless, irrelevant,
rudderless Brooklyn Nets.
Look, I know the Lakers lost last night.
And by the way, it was to the Blazers.
Every time I see Damian Lillard do something in a Blazer uniform,
it's just great for the sports soul.
Like, I love it.
I can't get enough.
It's sensational.
it's amazing it's everything you want if you're a fan of basketball see
and Damian Lillard do his
thing it's also another example of how
and why Luka Doncic is going to win the MVP I mean did
you see Luka last night and I know the Lakers lost I genuinely
do not care Luka Doncic this season
is on fire last night in a loss 41 points
and he was majestic nine assists and this is another
prime example why Luka Doncic is going
to be the mvp of the nba can i help you hey stud
this is quite a pleasant surprise yeah i just got out
of jail i heard you were playing football
As a Halloween enthusiast, that is incredible.
Jared Goff is my guy just for his Halloween costume.
But will he be one of my guys from week seven
in the National Football League?
It is the most coveted award weekly
in all of the National Football League.
Whether or not you are one of Shine's guys for the week.
Number five, Jesse Bates from the Atlanta Falcons.
I am obsessed with Jesse Bates.
He is an unbelievable player, an unbelievable safety.
That diving interception to me was the play
of the weekend in the NFL by a defensive player.
Nine tackles, that interception, a forced fumble,
and a monster upset special win for the Atlanta Falcons against
the previously undefeated 49ers.
And what you saw on the screen right there is the perfect illustration
of how Jesse Bates deserves even more credit.
We give it to him all the time as being a phenomenal all-around player
for a sustained period of time during the course of his career.
Phenomenal safety, makes plays.
He was great in Cincinnati.
They foolishly didn't pay him.
Atlanta scooped him up.
He's a team leader, one of my favorite guys.
I vote him all the time for first or second team All-Pro.
My guy, Jesse Bates.
Number four, my guy, Joe Burrow.
I got to give my guy, Joe Burrow, all the credit in the world.
and he went out in the second half
and was able to kick ass and take names
when you look at what he was able to do when they were down by 13
to win by over 20 against the Baltimore Ravens.
On the road, in the division.
Look at these numbers.
Nuggets of domination for Joe Burrow in the second half.
This is pitching the perfect game.
I mean, look at this.
Perfect passer rating in the second half when he was down 13-0
heading into the locker room.
16 of 18, four touchdowns, no picks,
249 passing yards, all in the second half.
My guy, Joe Burrow, who again,
I believe is going to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a
division title in the best division in the NFL this year.
Number three, my guy, Malik Neighbors.
I think the genius of Malik Neighbors
is actually flying under the radar a little bit.
Look at this.
History.
We're talking about Malik Neighbors,
four straight 100-yard-plus receiving games.
That is number two all-time in Giants history.
Also, he has a great rapport with J.J. McCarthy.
When you start talking about best receivers in the NFL this year,
and I say this as someone who votes for first-team All-Pro,
second-team All-Pro,
Malik Neighbors has been, this season,
a top-five wide receiver in the National Football League.
Right now, he is on track to getting one
of the votes for a first or second team.
We're talking about three receivers
on the first team, three on the second team.
He has been that dominant, that special.
Look, all the conversation has been about Harbaugh.
All the conversation has been about how the Giants have won games.
Malik Neighbors is an absolute stud.
My guy, Malik Neighbors.
Number two, he makes the list.
My guy, Jared Goff.
Not just for the Halloween costume,
but Jared Goff has thrust himself into the MVP discussion.
And look at this.
Most passing touchdowns without an interception,
first six games of a season.
And I think that, and I'm part of this,
because I destroyed Dan Campbell,
and officiating was terrible.
So that kind of took away from what Goff did
and his genius at the quarterback position.
Listen, right now, he is absolutely top five on my list for league MVP.
I'd probably have him third or fourth.
You know, I'm not putting him ahead right now
of Josh Allen or Brock Purdy.
But Jared Goff has been sensational.
He deserves a lot of credit.
He also flies under the radar.
My guy, the great Jared Goff.
My guy from this past week in the NFL, my guy, Jackson Smith-Njigba.
And let me tell you something about Jackson Smith-Njigba.
And here's how we need to describe it, right?
He is the best offensive player in the NFL non-quarterback.
I mean, he did it again.
Look at the numbers.
Look at what he's on pace for.
Remember the fact that he
was the offensive player of the year last year.
You know, we can't sit here
and talk about Bijan Robinson or Justin Jefferson
or Jamar Chase or Christian McCaffrey or Kenneth Walker III.
Jackson Smith and Jigba is the single most dominant,
physical, sure-handed, slippery,
most unbelievable offensive weapon in the sport.
I mean, look at these routes.
He's covered on most of these plays.
And this is a great illustration of just how versatile he is.
You can line him up on the inside, on the outside.
He's ridiculously tough.
I mean, look at the precision on how he runs the routes.
He's tough-minded going over the middle.
He's able to escape from potential tacklers.
He is just incredible to watch.
You can put him on anywhere all over the field, set him in motion.
His football acumen, his football IQ, his toughness.
The best player on the best team in the NFL last year.
They won a Super Bowl.
And what JSN is doing this year, next level.
nobody should be surprised if anything i think jackson smith
and Njigba was somehow
underrated my guy jsn oh wait there's more you have
a message for them about how to get on board
for a game six a possible championship game
on the road at 9 30 in the morning yeah colin sick
yeah i recommend it yeah right like
y'all know how to fake a cough and then we all do that
Colin's sick
but we got the best fans in the league
so I'm sure they'll be supporting us
whatever time
I am so sick
for the incredible players
for Golden State and Atlanta
for a game 6
in the WNBA
at 12:30
Eastern Time on Thursday
afternoon
Golden State fans in the Bay Area
have to wake up
and skip work
Kids have to skip school for a 9:30 game
with the potential of seeing a championship.
By the way, it's not a game seven, so you might skip school.
Your team loses, and you skip school for no reason.
Let me tell you something.
Kathy Engelbert, who we have attacked,
rightly so, on numerous occasions on Shine Time.
We had that great interview with Nancy Lieberman,
and she was outstanding in understanding exactly why
this league is a complete and utter absurd mess.
Kathleen's the worst.
And, you know, she's retiring after this season.
She was pushed the hell out because she has no idea what she's doing.
I feel so terrible for the players on the Atlanta Dream.
I feel so terrible for the players on Golden State.
I feel terrible for the coaches.
I feel terrible for the fans.
And the WNBA is its own worst enemy
when it comes to garbage and nonsense.
And the play on the court all year has been remarkable.
The postseason has been remarkable.
Here's Golden State coming back.
They were down 2-1 early in this series,
and they're a game away from a championship,
and it's going to tip off at 9:30 in the morning on the West Coast?
So kids who have been going to all these games,
they're obsessed with the team, fans, men, women, can't watch this?
Have to take a day off from work?
Get the hell out of here.
That's an embarrassment.
And the Atlanta Dream issued a statement.
It was a lengthy one.
It was really well done.
you know this is something they talked
to the league about two months ago two months ago and
if it was a league that had any idea what the hell they
were doing they would have looked at all the
teams in the playoffs gone through a deep dive
into if you share an arena and of course the
Dreams be playing in the Hawks arena
with the opportunity to have all these amazing fans who
love the Dream in Atlanta to be there
for this basketball team be there for Angel Reese and company
and this, you didn't realize there was a conflict?
And I don't want to hear, because you can't do it, unfortunately,
you know, I would have loved to move the Hawks
and the Cavs game to the afternoon.
If I was running the NBA,
I would have an afternoon game every single day during the week.
One afternoon game, I think that's great for the kids,
great for, you know, the NBA in Europe.
A lot of different reasons we've talked about that.
You can't just flip-flop it like the Bucs did
when the Brewers were in the World Series,
because the Cavs and the Hawks both play on Wednesday nights.
They can't turn them around when they
get in the wee hours of the morning.
It makes no sense.
But this is something the WNBA should have looked into.
So now you have these great Golden State players
who've had unbelievable fans the entire year,
and their fans have to wake up on the West Coast
and try and see a championship.
And by the way, what about this,
what if they win?
Do they have to cut the celebration short?
Can they not celebrate on the court
and have a real trophy presentation?
Because they're going to get
the court ready for the NBA later that day?
What a disaster.
The WNBA is amazing.
The quality of play, the teams,
the expansion teams, the depth, the talent,
everything with Las Vegas and with the Liberty
and Toronto and Golden State and the Fever.
I mean, it's been outstanding.
The Lynx, it's been an incredible season.
Only the WNBA and Kathy Engelbert can ruin the WNBA.
This is not how a respectable sports league should be treated.
A pathetic, embarrassing debacle.
In some ways, a fitting end to an end of an era.
That's E-R-R-O-R for Kathy Engelbert as the overmatched clown
masquerading as the commissioner of the WNBA.
That's the show.
If you miss any portion of the show, just do what I do.
Rewatch it over and over again.
