System running in heat because thermostat wasn’t passing enough voltage to energize reversing valve.

All right, we just turned this on to cool.
Air handler is running. Let's check it outside.
It's running in heat.
That's a new Nest thermostat.
So let's go back in and check on
the
programming.
start
to cool.
Three
minutes.
While
I'm
waiting
I'm
gonna
check
my
orange
wire
and see
if it's getting 24 volts.
It is not. I guess we'll wait
and see if that changes
when the thermostat comes on.
We'll see. Okay, 10 volts.
10 volts to ground.
I mean the common
make
sure
this
is
figured
correctly
I've
got
a
faulty
thermostat
it
seems
to
be
right
that
makes
a difference
continuity I
could jump it
out and get
24 volts
but um now the
thermostat
will
not power it'll give me 10 volts instead of 24 volts
which isn't enough to power my reversing
valve so I'm gonna jump orange and yellow out right now
and um test everything else and recommend
and a new
thermostat.
And by that suction line temperature,
I do believe it says volt 22.
Good job I did of showing what was wrong,
but that thing was only,
the thermostat was only giving me 10 volts
on my reversing valve,
and I tried swapping wires from orange to blue
because I thought it had a continuity problem,
but it did the same thing,
just 10 volts to a reversing valve,
but I could jump it out at the thermostat
and get 24 volts.
The thermostat would only give me 10,
So she's getting them.
