We are also following developments
from an early morning crash on the Eisenhower.
Yeah, Villa Park police confirmed they followed a car
in connection to a burglary onto the expressway.
Brandi Toulos has information just released.
We know that lengthy morning backup stemmed
from a suspected burglary out of Addison.
Addison's about 10 miles northwest of here.
That police chase, though,
ending right here at 290 on the inbound lanes just under that gantry.
And this backup extended past Mannheim Road
from around 6 o'clock this morning.
Take a look from our Sky Fox.
You can see just how long that backup extended.
Addison police say this started
in the business district along Lake Street
where officers say two vehicles believed
to be involved in two commercial burglaries were seen.
Both of those vehicles took off.
Police say they used a tire deflation device
to catch one of those vehicles,
but the people from inside that disabled vehicle jumped
into the other one and they just kept going.
Villa Park police joined the pursuit near North Avenue and Route 80.
Police say another tire deflation device was used,
and that vehicle crashed out here
at the 25th Avenue exit here on the Ike.
Seven people ran from that disabled vehicle.
Now, we heard this all play out on police scanners.
Take a listen to the calls surrounding this incident.
This is Chicago, Villa Park, Victor 3,
in pursuit of a black Dodge Durango, 85 miles per hour.
We're on it. Burglary.
Entering 290 eastbound right now.
Entering 290 eastbound right now.
Entering 290 eastbound.
Station 2 on this turn, we have seven foot fouls.
Seven foot fouls, north side of 290.
Addison police say five people were arrested.
They also say they found weapons
and other things associated with those commercial burglaries
inside that disabled vehicle here on the 290.
Again, we are still waiting for more information
on the potentially two other people that ran from this vehicle.
We're also going to head to Addison to see if we can talk to some
of the businesses possibly involved with these commercial burglaries.
But this crash here closed three lanes.
It is now open up here on the Ike.
The lanes are looking smooth for anyone still having
to leave their house this morning.
I'll send it back to you guys for now.
Brittany, thanks for that update.
