But we want to begin with our Atlanta Dream
doing what they needed to do at State Farm
Arena not long ago, forcing a game seven now against the Valkyries.
That's going to happen on Saturday, we understand.
Let's get to the middle of the action and our Eric Perry,
who is there at State Farm
Arena as all of this went down.
Eric?
Yeah, Tom, in the middle of the action, indeed.
Take a look.
The fans are coming out.
It is an exciting time for the Atlanta Dream fans.
Hey, with the glasses, come on over here.
I'm Eric, we're on live with Fox 5 first
of all talk about the game inside
How did it feel to be in there with the energy?
Oh, I loved it. It was amazing when I tell you
Even though it is 1230 on a Thursday talk about people just coming out
Your goal for women's basketball for the Dream and of course
for the championship, what do you hope for? What do you look?
Let's win. Let's take that win,
and let's get the WNBA on the map, honey,
because that game, I ain't knocking nobody,
was better than the NBA game.
Perfect. What's your name?
Namicia.
Namicia, nice to meet you. Thank you so much.
As you see, just a lot of people are coming out.
They're having a lot of fun.
Again, this was a really good game, right?
It was do or die for the Atlanta Dream.
If they would have lost today,
the Valkyries would have won here on Atlanta.
We didn't want that at all.
So, of course, now on Saturday,
they will go to the Valkyries home turf, though.
But, look, it might be 1230, Tom,
but it might as well be 830, 9 o'clock,
because a lot of people are having fun.
They're coming out.
They're having a good time.
And let me tell you, you're going to see a lot of chants.
You're going to see a lot of people.
You're going to see a lot of people as they are saying
that they want to make sure that they get out.
It's going to be win or lose.
So, as you can see, there's just
a lot of excitement, Tom.
You can't really bottle this up, both down all the way down the street,
all the way people are just flooring out
of this game here as again it was do or die and uh they
kicked some butt so good job for the Atlanta Dream
and uh just a lot of energy that are going out as
well Tom, a couple of things Eric before I let you
go remember 12:30 we thought was such a weird time
was this also one of those sold out crowds that we've seen
so many times with the Dream
yeah so uh the 12:30 that really didn't mean anything
as you can see people are coming out
Earlier today, I saw some people ducking and dodging,
so they might not have gotten official permission to be off of work.
But that didn't stop any of them.
As you can hear, people saying Dream in 7.
So that seventh game is when they're going
to have to take it all in that next game.
But we thought that 12:30 game, because of that scheduling conflict
with the Hawks, was maybe not going to be a sold-out game.
But it was sold out indeed.
And as you can see, there's just a flood of people coming out.
And again, it might as well have been 8 o'clock, 9 o'clock.
That energy really didn't matter.
because people came out to make sure
that they supported their Atlanta Dream, Tom.
Now, Eric, as you stand out there with all
these fans coming out of State Farm,
give us a little preview.
Okay, we're going to go into Saturday now, and that will be a Game 7.
Is that another do-or-die situation?
In other words, whoever wins Game 7, that's it.
Yeah, whoever wins on Saturday will win this championship game.
So, again, it is going to be, let me say it again,
again, again, good to see you, good to see you.
There's just a lot of emotions,
a lot of reaction that's coming out here.
But, yes, they got to win Game 7.
Whoever is winning on Game 7 will take this championship.
So, of course, we don't want that to be the Valkyries.
We wanted the Atlanta Dream to win here at home.
That would have been the big thing to happen out here.
But, look, a win is a win.
So if we got a win in California,
that's just what it's going to have to take.
And, of course, we'll all be watching on Saturday, Tom.
Good stuff. Great perspective, Eric.
You and I have been chatting in the lead-up to this live shot
when we weren't sure if the Dream were going to pull it out,
but they were ahead all the time.
It was like a 20-point game right up to the run-up to the end,
and you captured all the excitement out there outside
of State Farm Arena for us.
Eric Perry with reaction as the Dream pull off
a victory against the Valkyries
just minutes ago at State Farm Arena.
Now we're going to go into a Game 7 on Saturday.
Eric, thanks so much.
