Benjamin Netanyahu says Palestinian Israelis
are stealing the elections in Israel.
He filed, along with his Likud party, complaints
to the Central Elections Committee and the security institutions
to investigate what they say are widespread bribes
and fraud that happened in Palestinian-Israeli localities.
This after a historic turnout to the vote, and Palestinian-Israeli
parties are projected to have 19 representatives in the Knesset.
Now, the Central Elections Committee has fired back,
saying there is no proof, no evidence of widespread abuses
or violations of the integrity of the process.
The Israeli president has warned that an entire community,
meaning the Palestinian Israelis,
must not be delegitimized for political purposes.
And that is a direct response to Benjamin Netanyahu.
Gadi Eizenkot, who heads the Jewish-Israeli anti-Netanyahu bloc,
has warned that Netanyahu, in his words,
is used to lying and political manipulation.
He welcomed any investigation, but said everybody must be wary.
Now, why is everybody weary?
Well, because everything is at stake.
Derailing the announcement of elections and casting doubt
on the integrity of it would derail the next Knesset convening.
a new Speaker of the Parliament being elected
and possibly anti-Netanyahu legislation being passed.
