Speaking of Halloween, if you think you go all out for it,
you might want to take a look at this house in the South Bay.
Every single year, those decorations get bigger,
and the skeletons just keep multiplying,
and the creativity gets a little more unhinged.
Let me show you.
I'm a person who doesn't like to do things the simple
or the easy way.
When Gretchen says she doesn't do things
the easy way, she's not kidding.
She's always loved Halloween.
Ever since I was a little kid, I remember a neighbor down the street.
She used to sit on her roof and dress as a witch
and throw candy at the kids.
And I just thought she was the coolest thing ever.
So she was my original inspiration.
This is her childhood home.
And every Halloween, it turns into a skeleton-filled spectacle
that's become a neighborhood tradition.
We've been expanding every year since then.
The kids are getting bigger and stronger,
so they're contributing a lot to the chaos.
This is our biggest year yet, and probably more is yet to come.
Skeletons riding, running, getting chased,
and apparently getting into a little trouble.
At this Redondo Beach house, Halloween isn't just a holiday.
It's a full-blown production.
As her four boys are growing up, so is her skeleton collection.
It's more than even she can keep track of.
It's probably better that I don't know.
It's a mystery.
It's a secret.
And they keep appearing at my doorstep.
Actually, more came in today.
It's an endless number.
Apparently, they just keep coming.
The question everyone wants answered,
where does she put all this when Halloween's over?
That is the number one question.
We get that every single day, multiple times a day,
and that's another Halloween mystery.
The good thing is the skeletons, they fold up pretty compact.
It's the big guys that are a little bit of a problem,
but we've had them tucked in pretty good, so we'll see.
I think we're going to start up a campaign for fostering skeletons.
That actually might help us a lot.
So you pick your favorite, maybe a QR code, whatever.
He's like, we can have that one.
And then November 1st, you pick it up, you take it home
and foster it through the year, drop it off on August 1st.
We can all be in on it together.
The creativity is part of the fun.
As a family, they dream up new antics every year.
It's probably the best holiday because it's just silliness.
It's just whimsical and fun.
There's not a lot of expectations. You know,
we're stressed out about meeting their family or making dinners.
There's no romantic expectations. There's no gifts.
It's just fun and silliness. And there's candy.
But also, for Gretchen, there's something bigger behind all the bones.
I have a serious job, believe it or not.
And life's heavy.
We've gone through a lot of hardships as a family.
And we learned that where you find fun,
you kind of got to dig in and focus.
That's been something that's been really special
is that we can find joy in creating this chaos.
And then we get to share it with our community,
which makes it even more meaningful.
A little chaos, a lot of family bonding,
and a whole neighborhood getting in on the fun.
So enjoy the skeletons while you can.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
What's she doing for Thanksgiving now?
Like, how do we?
I know.
I was like, what's coming out of your roof?
I'm so jealous.
I'm sure there's going to be a pumpkin patch situation for sure.
Like a full pilgrim's event, right?
Yeah, right.
But Christmas is like the second big one
that she goes all out for, yeah.
Where does she keep it stored?
So there's attic space.
There's like just a lot of stuff.
Pumpkin's that garage.
I know, right?
I think it's her closet for all those skeletons.
I know.
The coffin, she was joking, I think.
She's like, well, there was a big coffin.
I don't know if you saw it.
She said, that one, that just goes back into the living room.
And she laughed.
And I think she was serious.
It's her coffee table.
Yeah.
She's in care, Sarah.
Maybe.
All season.
Anyway.
It's cool.
Yeah, it brings a lot of joy for the neighborhood, obviously.
No pressure, but she's got to deliver on the candy.
Because there's a certain standard now.
You know, she's a full bars kind of gal.
Yeah.
For sure.
That's it.
a hundred percent okay
and if she's not then oops sorry well now you have a couple days
you're gonna be she's like running out
no pressure yeah you got a couple days listen i
i i got candy so if you live near me come
to my house i got i got and if you
don't give it out bring it in i will okay
