4 hospitalized after home invasion, shooting at Bridle Path home: police
Oct 29, 2026
A violent home invasion in this affluent neighborhood
in Toronto's North End.
Police say three masked men forced their way
into a home just before four o'clock Thursday morning.
All three suspects were armed with handguns
and one was armed with a hammer.
Once inside police say there was an altercation
with the family that lives in the home.
A mother and father along with their two adult daughters
the intruders opened fire.
Three members of the family the father
and his two daughters sustained gunshot wounds.
Two victims remain in hospital with life-altering injuries
while the other two sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police the mother was struck with a hammer.
Residents of this neighbourhood were shocked to learn what happened.
All these houses have good security
so I'm kind of surprised there was this
and shooting and shooting actually shooting people shooting people
in the house it just seems mindboggling
This isn't the first time that this neighborhood has seen violence.
It's known locally as the Bridal Path
and it's lined with multi-million dollar homes.
In 2024, a security guard was shot outside
of the mansion of Canadian rapper Drake.
At this point, police do not have a clear description
of any of the suspects in Thursday's home invasion.
CBC News has learned the family that lives
in the home owns a real estate company.
While the motive here has not been confirmed,
police believe this may have been an attempted robbery gone wrong.
There was a demand made for valuables from within the home.
Whether or not they escaped with anything is uncertain at this point.
According to Toronto Police statistics,
home invasions in the city are up 35%.
Compared to the same time last year, police say they will have
a heightened presence in this neighborhood in the coming days.
