The U.S. midterms are just five days away
and some of the races too tight to call.
It's all going to come down to the numbers.
So here are some important numbers you should know.
298, that was the average price of a gallon
of gas before Operation Epic Fury, the U.S.'s war with Iran.
Now, it's hovering around $4.25 nationally.
For decades, researchers have studied the effect
of high gas prices on voter behavior,
and it's never good for the party in power,
especially given how unpopular this war is with Americans in general.
$11.6 billion.
That's how much is projected to be spent
on political ads during these midterms.
In the last midterms, in 2022, that number was just $8.9 billion.
That's even more than the $11.2 billion spent
in the last presidential election cycle.
218. That's how many seats the GOP or the Democrats
have to win to get control over the 435-seat House.
Four. That's the number of Senate seats
the Democrats would need to flip,
assuming they hold on to the ones they have now.
If they want to wrestle control
of the 100-seat chamber from the Republicans.
There are 35 seats in play on November 3rd.
Right now, GOP controls 22 of them.
Democrats have the other 13.
Key, 750.
748.
That's how many days President Trump will have left in the Oval Office
once the new Congress is sworn in on January 3rd.
And depending on the makeup of Congress after these midterms,
he may have difficulty pushing his agenda through
for those last days of his term.
