Is there an Allen wrench? What is that?
Hey everyone, welcome back! Okay, today,
this is the kit that I've
been the most curious about out of all of them.
I've been getting ones
that look semi-realistic,
This one might take the cake.
This is another amigurumi kit from Temu. This one is supposed
not too AI, but this one.
to be a tiny baby leopard, at only about five inches tall.
But here's the thing.
These photos don't really look like they're crochet.
You can't really see the stitches,
it looks more like a little stuffed animal than an amigurumi,
and the whole thing just
looks very smooth. Almost AI generated.
There's even a video in the listing of the finished
leopard moving around, which, you know, that's not happening.
So I was super curious.
of what this kit actually is.
Are we getting actual yarn and a standard crochet pattern or
who knows what's coming? Because
of course right now it looks way too perfect to be real. So today
we're opening it up and finding out what we actually are getting.
Is this going to be an
amigurumi or a total scam?
But before we get started be sure to hit the like, subscribe,
and notification bell
so you never miss out on crochet experiments, reviews,
patterns and all good stuff.
Alright, let's see what's actually inside this one. I love how
vacuum-packed they get these things.
It's crazy. You could have guessed what was gonna be in here
if you've seen any of my other videos. We have the DIY
booklet. Watch the other videos. It'll make sense.
I'm getting burnout on the DIY booklet. I was hoping
getting different sellers would mean I
would get different things, but it's like
non-stop of these repeats of the same type of stuff,
so I can guess what's
coming in here. Can you guess?
Leave it in the comments before I reveal it, because
if you've watched any of my other ones, you'll already know.
Let's open it up. So,
um, its mouth is open, I just realized.
There's, like, things that I didn't realize
until, like, just this moment. Its mouth is open.
I see no red. I don't see a tongue
It has giant eyes with color around the irises,
so that'll be interesting if that happens.
As you know, if you've seen in my videos,
the PDF is a QR code on the back of this picture,
as well as the video. I try not to give away stuff for free,
so I don't turn those around.
But let's see what's in the kit. Like, we can't already guess
if you've seen any of my other videos.
But first off, the colors are nothing like
The picture. This is like mustard.
So I'm having a mustard baby leopard. I don't know what color
baby leopards are. Would they be more orange?
More mustard? Brown? I don't even know. I need
to go Google that. This is only supposed
to be like five inches tall according to the pattern.
This is a lot of yarn.
These are probably like a hundred yards a piece. So I feel like people
People that are selling these, they're just like...
It's like the same amount of yarn for each thing.
It's kind of like over and over. I don't know.
How many do we have now? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
And if you've watched my videos,
you know the very first one I threw away
because I already know how to crochet, but this is comical
to get this many in these different kits.
So what was that? Seven? Fine. Okay, our vacuum pack.
Stuffing and then our bag of goodies. Okay.
Is there an Allen wrench? What is that?
I think there's an Allen wrench in here or something similar.
All right. Okay. The eyes
have the brown. Yeah, brown. It is brown.
Does have the brown. So that's good. They gave us color.
Oh my goodness.
I'm so glad I got another 2.5 hook!
You know, the hooks are very comfortable, which I like.
It's a very comfortable grip.
I now have probably 10 of these suckers.
I'm gonna start
a 2.5 crochet hook business.
If you know, you know.
Watch the other videos.
If you were wondering, of course I got extra safety eyes,
cause they give me like 6 extra
on every single kit.
The other brown eye is in there, so...
I have two eyes. What? I know what that means.
They should put a warning on this thing,
because if it's what I think it is, it's sharp.
So inside the needles...
Look at that sucker.
You're trying to kill me.
That is a needle
I see no wool, I see no roving,
so I have no idea what I'm needle felting or why they gave me one,
felting tool.
but these suckers are super sharp, pointy,
barbie, not that kind of barbie, but barbs,
like on a cactus, to needle felt,
so maybe once you're done you're supposed to needle felt the
The whole thing to make it look fluffy.
That would be insane especially with this tiny of a needle.
This would take forever. I am highly
curious now. Put that back in there so I don't stab myself.
I'm gonna go download the pattern
and definitely the video and scroll to the end
to see what I'm doing with this needle and we're gonna
try making this and see what we get.
I just found something that fell out in my lap. There is rovings.
This is what roving looks like.
It's like yarn that hasn't been yarned. So maybe for
Four.
this portion
and maybe the ears we're going to needle felt the roving onto
the finished little guy. Let me see how this feels.
Like I'm trying to smell- see if it
smells like wool. It feels fake.
It doesn't feel like wool. That is a smell and not wool.
It's definitely not wool, it's probably just like acrylic roving,
which I didn't know that was a thing.
So it'll be interesting to see if that actually felt up.
I am even more intrigued now.
So, I am going to go start working on this,
because if you're like me, you can't wait to see what's gonna happen.
Okay.
Okay, so, this is my baby
leopard skipping
with a little giraffe.
Because of the color, so maybe a giraffabat?
This is where we are. I did start this one fully
expecting it to be questionable.
If you saw my cat kit review, I'll link that if you missed that gem.
You already know how that went. So my expectations were managed.
But weirdly, this pattern had the opposite problem.
It was actually very detailed,
like almost overly detailed.
It had 20 pages of written instructions. You're getting step
by step, round by round instructions with tips
and tricks along the way.
And at first I thought, okay,
maybe this one will actually work. However,
Zero pictures in the pattern to help you
and then you know pretty early on I'm like
This definitely is not making what
they showed you can just tell you know
The shaping is off portions are off everything
is just very wrong in a way that keeps getting worse and worse
The longer you go
And part of that is the yarn situation.
And the pattern talks about using fuzzy mohair yarn,
which would give it that soft, fluffy,
baby leopard look, but all I got was basic acrylic again.
So already visually it never stood a chance in matching the photos.
And then it didn't even come with all the colors,
which feels like pretty important detail.
It was missing the black, white, and pink,
you know, small things like the nose, the mouth,
the tongue, minor details. Not important at all, of course.
So even if I wanted to finish it accurately, I couldn't.
I'd have to go dig through my own
stash just to make it look remotely correct.
Then we have the eyes. These are also knotted.
The ones in the photos have a lot of personality.
They're big, expressive, they kind of make the
whole piece. The ones that came with this kit are tiny.
Just very underwhelming.
No personality, no thought behind those eyes.
So now we have a giraffe-a-bat with blank stares.
It's not going great. I did finish all of the legs, by the way.
I committed that far, like...
I like the back legs they look like
little chicken drumsticks but then you
get to the assembly and it makes no sense.
The way that they want you to
attach like and this is how they finish
the legs like you're supposed to leave
them open but the way that you attach them does
not make sense like it's
supposed to be kind
of sitting upwards and it's
Like, I could try to do it, like, it was, it,
it said, like, it, like, you're supposed to kind of
flatten it or something, and then put it sideways-ish.
I don't know, it just,
it doesn't look right.
It didn't look like it, it was gonna be just, like, even.
Not to even look like the picture, just to make it look cute.
It didn't seem like it was going to work.
And of course, again, there are no pictures in the actual pattern
to show you what you're aiming for during assembly.
You're just kind of supposed to trust it.
And based on how the rest of this is gone, I don't.
Also all of the listing photos on Temu
for this were clearly AI generated,
like not even trying to hide it.
So I kind of knew going into this that it may not be real,
but this is just disappointing. There is a pattern, there is yarn.
Not like the cat one where things just were missing entirely,
but this is not what was
advertised in any way.
Not the materials, not the outcome, not even close.
If Temu wants to be legit
they really need to crack down on these AI listings
and not just patterns just in general
there's tons in there
and make sure people are actually selling what they show because
This isn't a slight difference, this is a completely different result.
And for me, not having a picture
of what I'm actually supposed to be making, combined with
everything not lining up,
I was not going to spend more time trying to fix it.
This is not going to turn into a baby leopard.
At best, it's a giraffabat,
so maybe I'll add wings and just commit to that.
If there are any kits that you've been curious about
and you want me to try them,
leave them in the comments.
I clearly have a high tolerance for chaos at this point,
so I will check if they're a scam so you don't have to.
Until next time, I am Deja with Knit and Crochet Ever After,
and thank you for watching.
