How to Crochet Front Post Extended Single Crochet (FPESC) | Easy Tutorial

So this tutorial is going to show you how to do a front post extended single crochet and it's used in beanies like the ones pictured here and here. My crochet fair isle beanies have a faux ribbing at the bottom and this is how you're going to do it. So the ribbing begins with a single crochet, single crochet in that same stitch that we joined. The next stitch is going to be the front post extended single crochet. So we're going under The next V, and then out the V after, and that pulls that stitch forward. Then we're going to yarn over, pull up that loop. You'll see that our post is being pulled forward. Next we're going to do a chain, which is the extended of our single crochet. Then we're going to yarn over and pull through the last two as a single crochet. Then when we're working our next one, where we came out is where we're Where we're going to go into the next one, because we need to go around the next post. So again we're going to go into the one we came out of and then out the next one, yarn over, pull up that loop, do one chain, and then single crochet. Then again the next stitch would be a single crochet for the beanie patterns that I had pictured. That hole that we came out of, that's where we're doing our next single crochet, so it's right on top of the single crochet below. So one more single crochet because it's usually a Repeat of two single crochets, two front post extended single crochets, so that extended gives it just a little bit more height so that it's in line with our single crochets.
