Compressor Changeout on a 2 ton split. Bryant , suction filter, and drier install. Vacuum, and charge.
Today, we are going
to replace a compressor
in this system right here.
We diagnosed that last week.
Our parts just came in, so that's what we're going to do.
I have already killed the power and recovered the freon.
We're going to put this in a suction dryer right here.
So, I'm just going to cut this one out.
We got
that loose.
So, you can see, this is a shot of our weather.
I hope I don't get rained on.
You can see I have taken my Schrader's out.
If you can see right here, it says in.
Can you see it kind of stamped in there?
It says in.
That side
goes
this way.
All
right,
so
we're
ready
to
do
some
bracing.
Suction
filter,
I'm
gonna
pressure
test
it.
We're about to replace the pigtail.
I'm gonna have to replace this capacitor too.
And as you see, it's just sort of sitting up in there.
It's one
of my
compressor
wires,
another,
a plug,
This is my new one. We could have reused
the old one, but new compressor,
I think, deserves a new wire harness.
If you look on your black wire right here,
I don't know if you can see that, it's got a L1C.
The C is for common.
You got to remember your capacitor is always between start and run.
This feeds your capacitor, so this side is run.
This other side is black. It is common.
They just happen to be color-coded, so black to black.
The contactor,
like I said,
one side is common,
one side is run.
Capacitor is always between start and run.
So Herm is start,
this side is run.
So I found the one that has an R on it,
L3R, it's going to be run.
You can
see
that it
says
L2S.
That's going to go
to Herm on my capacitor,
which is start.
Okay, we're going to wire up this capacitor.
This is for my fan, this brown wire,
it goes over here to the fan.
This comes for my contactor, it goes to C for common,
but that's actually my run winding.
And this one on my wire harness,
L2S, that goes to Herm.
Herm stands
for hermetically
sealed compressor.
In here, this just
plugs up, should
easily plug up.
Got
some
of
them
wires
back
in.
We still got a ways
to go on that.
I'm weighing in the chars right now.
We're right at five pounds.
Can't read anything off the name plate.
All right.
So I'm keeping a close eye on my head pressure.
We're running it in the heat,
and right now it's about 78 degrees in time.
Head pressure
is just over 300.
Pulling the vacuum, I had
a problem with this valve core.
It's leaking and it took me a while to figure out what the problem was.
You can see I'm up
to 326, 327.
I've settled out at about
80 degrees inside.
