Tracking shower chances for Halloween

And you might have to carry an umbrella with a Halloween costume,
at least with the possibility of some scattered showers
in your Saturday evening forecast.
But the main action will not be here.
It's going to be down into our south,
down in Southern California, also out toward the Sierra.
So as we run this forecast model, we're not showing you
a lot of numbers here at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
Things begin to go up a little bit.
This is Saturday night, and then
as we take this into early Sunday morning,
probably the best bet of picking up some more rainfall
late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
So still, we have about a 30% to maybe 40% chance of some
scattered showers around here as we do head into Saturday evening.
So it's not going to be a clear, mild evening.
Lots of clouds out there and temperatures in the 40s
and the 50s, so bundle up as well.
Bigger changes, though, as you can see
on the map here for Southern California.
They have the rainfall picking up as we do head into the weekend.
And look out toward the Sierra.
We finally have some snowfall to track in the Sierra.
We finally have this, a winter weather advisory.
This begins Saturday morning for the west slopes of the Sierra.
And for the higher elevations, we could have maybe 8 to 12 inches.
And snow level is getting down pretty close to lake level.
So winter weather advisory in the mountains starting
to build that snow base for the resorts.
Here's a look at the satellite and the radar.
Lots of clouds over the Bay Area.
I did notice some light rain in Salinas within the past hour or so.
So some of this moisture is actually hitting the ground.
Closer to Monterey Bay, at least approaching the Fresno area as well.
For us right now, we have partly cloudy skies, mostly cloudy skies.
You can still see some more energy out here in the Pacific.
This area of low pressure up here.
Another one to our south and to our west, bringing in that moisture.
Current numbers out there for the 10 o'clock hour.
We have San Jose checking in 63.
Concord has cooled off to 58.
And a bunch of low 50s for Napa and up in Santa Rosa.
Here's a live camera right now checking out SF
with the clouds filling in.
We're going to start out tomorrow morning
or Friday with some cloud cover out there.
And then we'll scale back on the overcast somewhat
with partly sunny conditions later in the day.
But bundle up 40s and 50s.
Here is the forecast model.
This is tomorrow morning, 9 o'clock.
And then this is 5 o'clock into the afternoon hours.
You can see what happens into Saturday and Halloween,
probably just some clouds in the morning,
the chance of some showers in the afternoon,
but maybe a better bet Saturday evening,
especially as we do take this into early Sunday morning,
and then we'll clear things out for the remainder of Sunday.
Here's that system offshore, another one up to our north.
So tomorrow, kind of a sun-cloud mix.
Then we have that chance of a shower
developing later in the day on Saturday.
Let's go ahead and run that forecast model once again.
As we put this into motion, you can see a Saturday morning distress.
And then you can see this activity.
This is 5 p.m. on Saturday, not out of the question,
a sprinkle or a light shower, 9 o'clock Saturday night,
and the main action moves in late Saturday.
And into early Sunday morning.
Highs for tomorrow will be in the 60s across most of the Bay Area.
The warmest locations approaching 70 degrees.
Here's a look ahead.
Your five-day forecast.
We will keep an eye on that shower chance for Saturday.
Once again, the bulk of the action,
though, is down in Southern California.
Fallback one hour into Sunday.
A little bit of a bump in the numbers on Monday.
And then probably just partly sunny skies as we head toward Tuesday.
But once again, maybe a big pattern change as we
do approach November 10th or November 11th.
More significant rain.
Could be back in the Bay Area forecast.
All right.
Thanks, Mark.
