Hey everyone today we're making punk lemonade not an actual drink
but this cool scarf. Why is it
called punk lemonade? Well it's yellow obviously
and then it's just got like all of these little
Variations inside and this isn't the yarn.
This is actually the pattern. We're using two different colors and
And what I'm
working
Different rows to create
this and you can see it has this super cool texture
going to do
So I'm using a lightweight yarn
and the pattern shows what this yarn actually is
is I'm going
You can go download the pattern in the description,
to go ahead
but we're going to use some worsted weight
For the tutorial, so you can see it a little bit better,
and share
but it's such a cool texture.
I love the feel of this.
my screen.
It's just got kind of a ripple to it almost.
It's just it's it's a really fun, easy pattern.
It's great to learn how to change colors and.
how to wrap your yarn because we don't weave
in ends there's no way we're going to weave in this
many ends so we run them up the side
and you can see with this kind of yarn using this variegated
yarn you can't even see it being ran up the side
so we'll talk more about that when we're actually
showing you the pattern
but grab the pattern below check out my recommendations below
and we'll get started but first let me just tell you
This is a new forever free pattern.
It used to be a paid pattern. I have lots of paid
patterns in my Etsy shop and other places I sell,
but some of these I am retiring
this year and who knows how many years
from now as I go along and I just
Retire it and I give it away for free instead of selling it
and it becomes a free pattern
for you to go download.
The link in the description takes you to my website.

Speaking of subscribing
Make sure you subscribe to this channel.
I'm trying to get to 200,000 by the end of this year, and if I do it...
Some lucky subscriber,
not even a viewer because you have to be subscribed,
will win $500 to their favorite craft store,
you pick what it is, and then $100 to my Etsy shop
where I sell shirts like this, bags like that, and tons of patterns.
So don't miss out,
hit the subscribe button, let's go get started on this pattern.
So I've gotten through the very first repeat, so rows 1 through 6.
As the pattern states, rows 1 and 2 will be worked in CA,
and then rows 3 through 6 will be worked in CB.
So whatever you're using, the pattern picture...
That shows a variegated and a solid,
so you can see the differences like you can do with solid colors
or you can use up that variegated where you're just
not really sure what you should use it for.
It gives it a really cool texture.
So the backside also with solid colors is not that great looking.
It's not as visible with the variegated yarn,
so that's something to note when you're picking out your yarn choices.
Okay, so now we're going to work row seven,
which is a repeat of row one. So we're going
back to our CA, our first color.
We're running it up the side here. I caught it in a second
row, which I'll show you how we do that in a bit,
but I'm bringing it up. I don't want
to pull too tight because
then I'm going to squish my rows on the end. So just give it
enough slack so that you can switch your yarn.
So you're just going to do a regular knit
but bringing that purple through
and i'm just going to kind of give it a little tug to make
sure i don't have it too tight
then the rest of the row is purl three so very simple purl three
and this is kind of like the ends of the rows
this will be mirrored at the at the other end
then we're going to knit 11
and we have a lot of yarn overs here from this last row which you'll
see when we get there so just be careful you don't lose any
of your yarn overs so we're going to knit
Starting at 11 to...
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,
9, 10, and 11.
Then we are going to purl 4,
and that's our knit repeat is knit 11, purl 4.
We have kind of a weird multiple of 15 plus 19,
because once we finish that repeat, we
have like 15 stitches left over that we
do pretty much the same thing, but it's a little
different because we need to mirror what we did here at the beginning.
So we're doing another knit 11,
and then we should have four
stitches left, and instead
of purling four, because we want to knit stitch
on the end of everything, we're going to purl
three.
And that just keeps our edges kind of the same it gives like a little
um keeps it from curling and such it's just a regular
knit edge all the way up. So make it a multiple of 15 plus 19 so
you'll see this kind of creates this one middle kind of
bridge here and a little bit of ridges on the edges
so if you do multiple or odds you'll kind
of have like a a middle point if you want that so add
a couple like another 30 stitches and you'll
have two of those on each end.
So let's go for row eight which is row two. Okay so our row two
repeat is kind of knitting the knits
and purling the purls so we're doing knit four
which we're always starting with a knit one on our end
and then we're going to do knit three more
so that's what we have below is a knit
then we're going to purl 11 so we had 11 knits on
the other side now they
have turned into pearls
so knit or sorry purl
11. now we're going back to
four knits again you can just read
your stitches below to see what you're doing
next and another 11 so this is our last 15 stitches
so we're doing 11 purls
And then four knits, which is a mirror of our beginning four stitches.
So if you're paying attention on this row,
you don't even really have to count.
You can just look below and look for the stitch that you have.
This is a good test for learning your stitches.
So you can see that purl bump here,
and then we're switching to a knit here.
So last purl, and then we have four stitches, and we have four knits.
Now it is time to change color.
Okay, so for our row three repeat,
we are now going to drop our CA or our purple color
and bring in our gray color.
We're not having to really twist anything yet
because we're just switching the colors.
In a couple more rows,
I'm going to show you how to kind of catch that purple
so it's not such a long run up the side of your work.
So this one's going to have some interesting stitches.
We're going to do some decreasing now.
So the first thing we're going to do is our edge stitch,
which is a knit one. And don't worry about
like tightening up this stitch here.
When we run our purple up, it'll tighten it up. Then we're
going to purl one. Then our repeat begins.
So we are going to purl two together. So we're going to
reach through, bring our yarn to the front,
reach through the next two stitches.
Bring it around just like a regular purl and purl those two together.
Then we're going to
have purl 11. So another row
of a lot of purls.
So hopefully you like
purling. 4, 7, 10.
11. And that is opposite of what you did below.
And what that does is kind of create these ridges
and gives a cool texture
and a kind of a ripply effect through the whole scarf.
So here we're doing the opposite of what we had before.
Now we're going to purl two together through the back loop
so this just gives it a different twist
so that it kind of leans in together.
So to do that you bring your yarn to the front
and then this is my least favorite stitch it's
so annoying so you're going to come through
the back loop of the two stitches the next two stitches from the
second stitch first so let me show you it's
a little easier to show than explain so i pulled
in my stitches because i need to get through this section here
but backwards so i want lots of room
so i'm going to turn it around just to try
to show you a little bit easier how this is working
i'm coming through those two stitches right down the center so
You can do that to begin, but you'll see that this twists your stitch.
So as you get going and you learn this stitch a little better,
you won't have to turn your work all the way around.
You'll just kind of be able to feel for it
and get through and twist that stitch or slack here.
Then we'll finish it off like a regular purl.
So we're going to bring our yarn around,
but we have to bring it back through those through the back.
So it's kind of weird.
And then we'll slip it off.
So that's my least favorite stitch of all time.
Anything through the back, any
purling through the back loop, even just
a regular purl through the back loop.
So you only have to do that every so often,
so it's not too bad in this pattern.
Then we begin our repeat over again.
So we're doing purl two together, and that's creating
that middle line that we have.
It's just keeping that line going. Then we're going to purl 11.
Then we're going to do our oh-so-favorite purl two through
the back loop again.
So remember, kind of pull it down a little bit
to get some space on those stitches.
If you're having trouble getting through,
you're reaching right through that middle.
If you're having trouble, turn the project completely around
to find that spot where you need to enter.
Finish off that purl, slide off.
Now we have two stitches, and we're going
to mirror what we did on the other side,
which was that knit one, purl one,
so this time we're going to purl one.
And then knit one. And that one was done.
Almost, we're halfway there.
We're on our row four repeat.
You'll notice that we did some decreasing
and we didn't do any increasing.
We're gonna do that again and another row after that.
We're gonna keep decreasing these
and we're not doing any increasing.
And then on the very final row,
we're gonna increase everything back up.
So don't worry that you haven't done any increasing
to offset the decreasing.
Your stitch counts are gonna go crazy.
At this point until you get to the round row six repeat.
So for the row four repeat,
we're gonna do our first knit of course,
but we're gonna knit two.
Then we're gonna slip slip knit.
So here we go again with another decrease.
So to slip slip knit,
we're gonna slip as if to knit the first stitch,
slip as if to knit the second stitch.
Then we're gonna enter our needle back into those
and just actually knit.
We'll do that again in a little bit so you can see that again.
Then we're going to knit nine.
So we've been kind of knitting 11 or purling 11,
but since we decreased on that last stitch,
now we only have nine stitches
in between our little lines
that we're running.
So we're going to knit nine.
Then we're going to do our leaning decreases towards each other. So the
first one is going to be a knit two together.
So to knit two together, you're going to go to the second.
Stitch and then just knit them.
So we're gonna get through both of those stitches
and knit both of those off together.
Then we're gonna do that slip slip knit again
cause this is the next beginning of the repeat.
So we're slipping as if to knit, slipping as if to knit,
putting our needle back in and knitting that off.
Then again a knit nine.
Then we're gonna finish this off with a knit two together
and then those two ending knits just like how we began.
So again, go two stitches over,
bring your needle through both of those
and knit them right off.
And then two last knits. Now we are going to catch
this purple yarn into our row five repeat just so
it's not so we don't have four rows of work
that we're bringing our yarn up. We're just going to
do a simple catch for this purple
so it kind of gets locked in so we're not having to travel as
Okay, so for our row five repeat,
we want to catch this purple yarn so that it's not such a
long run. So basically all I'm going to do is I'm just going
to lay it over the gray yarn. So I'm
going to lay it over CB, that's it.
Then I'm going to do a knit stitch. So it's going to come up and
around the purple and catch it.
So it just kind of locks it in there for us.
We knit off and it's just kind of caught there and then we drop it.
That's it. So just a simple layover,
knit around it and it's caught so that we are not running such
a long yarn until we pick it back up again.
So for the rest of row five,
we're doing some more purl two together through the back loop.
Sorry.
So first we're going to purl one.
So it's kind of just like row three,
except the amount of purls in between our decreases changes.
So we're going to purl two together for the beginning of our repeat.
Then we're purling seven this time.
So you'll notice we're decreasing by two each time.
So purl seven.
Now you guys are old pros
at these purl two together through the back loop, I'm sure.
So this is no big deal now, but that's what we're doing next.
So we're going to come bring our yarn to the front,
come through both of those stitches,
bring our yarn through both of those, and off.
Then we're starting over,
so purl two together, purl seven.
Do not feel bad if this purl two together through
the back loop takes you a long time.
I'm not actually, I'm, I am doing it at my normal speed
when I'm showing you right now,
like this is not a stitch that is easy to do.
I struggle with it every time. This is
me doing it at my normal speed.
You'll see I miss it all the time. I fumble. It is a
Annoying stitch but it creates the correct leaning decrease
so it's kind of a necessity
if you just do the purl two together they'll both kind
of lean in the same direction and it's not
horrible you know
but if you want it to look the way that the pattern looks you want to
master that stitch. Then we're going to do a purl one
and a knit one and we are down to our last
Row repeat which is kind of the fun one
because we're doing a lot of yarn overs. Yarn overs are
simple, quick, just yarn over knitting mostly.
So let's do our last row will be good. Okay we are
at the last row.
We are doing our increasing back up to the correct stitches. So we're
going to start with knit four.
So it's kind of like how we began the pattern.
with kind of four stitches on each end
so we're knitting four then we're gonna yarn over and knit
one five times so just kind of keep track just kind
of count them as you go so i do the yarn over
and then i knit one and i count that as one
so yarn over two yarn over three yarn over four yarn
Start over, five.
So that way I don't lose track of how many I have done.
Then I'm going to yarn over one more time and do my middle knit four,
which is kind of what we were doing down at the bottom again.
So we're going to knit four.
Then it starts over again.
So yarn over, knit one five times.
So yarn over.
One, two, three,
four, five.
I have four more stitches.
So I'm going to do one more yarn over and knit four.
One, two, three, and four.
Now I have brought my stitch count back up.
It kind of like makes it squish together
and then come back out so it gives this cool texture. You
get like this very ripply this way.
You also get kind of a chevron in the middle so it's a really
neat kind of overall look for this pattern.
So let's go do some final thoughts on this. So that's
it. Really simple right?
It's not difficult stitches except for that through the back loop.
It's a good learning stitch so don't hate me.
It makes a cool scarf so just practice and you will
learn this new stitch that not a lot of people know
and then you can show your friends at the
local yarn store. So I am Deja with Knit
and Crochet Ever After dot com and I hope you enjoyed
this pattern. Be sure to like and subscribe.
