This is what happens when seeking revenge against
your former team backfires badly.
Jha goes up and under around and it's blocked by Stewart.
The finish between the Hawks
and the Cavs turned into chaos.
Three ball to tie it. Mitchell finds it, shoots it, missed it.
Rebound tapped around. It's going to go on to Donovan.
Three seconds, two. Mitchell, quarter, three to tie.
And Darius Acuff Jr. and Jeremiah Fears gave us an electric battle.
But we gotta start
with the thriller in Atlanta,
where the Cavs came out
with a lot more energy.
Sam Merrill
and James Harden guided Cleveland to a 15
point lead early in the second quarter
when
the Hawks
finally
woke up.
Aaron Wiggins ignited a 14-4
run scoring 8 of his 20 points
in a span of 3 minutes.
And Onyeka Okongwu picked up right where he left off.
Sam Merrill lost the dribble.
Stolen by C.J. McCollum with Mobley back.
Here comes Cobb.
He's at home at 43-39.
The Hawks executed a huge 22-point turnaround
in the second to go from down 15 to up by
7 before the break.
And early in the third, Okongwu kept letting it fly.
Allen can he pry it away?
Not quite.
It comes back to Alexander Walker.
Okongwu for three.
Okongwu has now three triples.
He gives the Hawks this 49-44 lead.
CJ McCollum heads uphill.
Kong feeling it tonight, folks.
From this point on, Atlanta pulled
the strings all the way to the clutch,
thanks to Onyeka's huge game of 29 points
and 12 rebounds on 65% efficiency. But down by 7
with less than 2 minutes left to play,
the Cavs decided to make things interesting.
Harden converts
the one over Walker to make it
a 4 point game, but Nikhil immediately
responds on the other end with a great cut to the basket.
Then, look at Spider turning
on the Jets to catch
the defense by surprise.
Up by four with less than a minute remaining,
Jalen Johnson had the mismatch on Merrill but…
So here comes Mitchell racing against
the clock again.
Donovan Mitchell pulls up, got knocked down, a whistle.
The refs call a late foul on Donovan's three
and he steps on the line with a chance to
narrow the gap to just one point.
And he does just that, knocking down all three
of his free throws, bringing the crowd to
the edge of their nerves.
So, with time winding down, the Hawks go to Alexander Walker.
Hawks are working themselves into a two for one.
If you want to play the possession game here, Nikhil on the handoff.
Puts up a huge three and missed it,
but Kong is there and sticks it in, 112-109.
Okongwu comes up with the huge offensive rebound
and the putback to bump the lead to 3 points.
And this is all James Harden's fault. How? Let's rewind.
Due to his inability to keep up
with the faster guards like Nikhil or CJ,
they put him down low to guard Okongwu. Mobley switches on the shooter,
chases him around another screen and together with Allen,
they make a solid contest on the shot.
But this leaves James all alone under
the basket where he gets easily beaten.
It's no secret, he can't guard a chair at this point.
Anyway, Spida rushes downhill again and...
And…
Mitchell scores again but with time running out,
they must play the foul game.
So with 15 seconds on the clock, they send Walker to the line who
calmly swishes both shots getting to his 25th point of the night.
It really surprised me at the end
though that the Hawks chose not to foul and risk the three,
turning the finish into a complete chaos.
Donovan Mitchell brings it up, three ball to tie it,
Mitchell finds it, shoots it, missed it, rebound tapped around,
it's going to go out to Donovan, three seconds to Mitchell,
quarter three to tie, no, ball game's over.
He had two cracks at it.
Yes, he did.
Spida had not one but two chances to tie the game
but he failed to do so and the hawks
survived getting the win at the end.
Mitchell and Harden combined for 46 points in this one
but on a miserable 4 for 17 shooting
from downtown.
Moving on to Portland now for the long awaited revenge game
by Ja Morant against his former
team.
The drama began long before tip off
when the Blazers let Ja pick a pre-game song.
And he picked Cross Me by YoungBoy who sings I was blind
when they crossed me on the chorus.
This ain't no subtle message,
it's him explicitly telling that he felt crossed by the grizzlies.
However he
was the one doing most
of the crossing
when the game started.
Morant hits all of his first 3 shots
to open the game just the way he wanted.
And when he sat on the bench,
his teammates ramped up the pace even more.
Go get this, Ziddy! Go get this!
Josh from City, Sissoko, timeout.
And Scoop, I don't know if he didn't see him
or it was just such a quick strike.
Either way, Scoop's going to get his get back.
Holiday with the lob.
Up by 8 in the middle of the second,
Ja kept cooking and he had some words as well.
Morant picked up by Wells.
Jai is hyped up after scoring twice
in a row that he starts yelling
to the crowd,
that's food, he's food, while pointing to Cedric Howard.
If you do that so early in the game,
you better end up scoring at least 30.
But unfortunately for him, that wasn't the case.
Jerome, 2 on 1.
It was a terrific feed, but Ja couldn't finish.
Grant on the other end with the dunk.
Baseline.
Ja goes up and under around it.
It's blocked by Stewart.
Loads it up.
No, deflected a couple of times.
Just comes away with it.
Morant proceeded to miss 6 of his next 7 shots
from the field finishing the game with
14 points on 43% efficiency. Not really killer numbers.
And for things to get worse,
he apparently injured his hamstring on this play while defending Jerome.
He immediately got out and didn't return to action. By that time,
the Grizzlies already took
a double digit lead mostly thanks to Boozer and Beef Stew.
Drop off Stewart against Potter.
Hooks and hits.
Big Stu with 10, his second double-figure effort of the season.
Boozer going downhill, feeds Eadie, the half hook is in.
That's what you do, great find.
Rebound Cam Spencer, took it away from Kamara.
And the defense has been absolutely fantastic.
Nice look here.
Look at Spencer and the look ahead.
Isaiah Stewart.
Boy, can Boozer
Isaiah Stewart was huge for Memphis off the bench,
racking up 15 of his 18 points in the
second half on a blistering 70% efficiency.
And Cam Boozer had a strong all-around performance
with 18 points, 12 boards, and 11 assists,
becoming the second youngest player in NBA
history to get a triple-double after Josh Giddey did it in 2022.
At the end, it was a blowout,
as the Grizzlies won the game by a 21-point margin,
improving the record to 5-0.
Man, what a shock
to start the season.
In New Orleans, the Pels hosted the Kings
and the most inefficient player in the league,
but something was different last night.
Around the Acuff screen, pulling the three,
an early rhythm here for Darius Acuff Jr.
And who else would you expect to wrest it away?
That was, I love seeing that.
Acuff, oh! He turned up the base!
Led to that in transition,
Darius Acuff Jr. elevating, throwing it down.
Back to Acuff, shot clock below 10.
Darius Acuff Jr. exploded in the first half,
scoring 21 of his 34 points on a great 8 of
11 shooting from the field.
He had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals as well,
but the Pels had an answer in the
second half.
Good job by Trey, thrown away by Levine,
you got it, kick it yourself, he wins!
Good pass, Jeremiah, for your ninth assist.
Jeremiah in conversation with De'Andre Hunter.
No surprise.
No surprise there whatsoever.
However.
Jeremiah.
Z off a couple of picks.
Jeremiah on a wing three.
Got it.
Jeremiah up the high screen.
Got there.
Goes to the line.
Speed kills, Joe.
Man, speed kills
Jeremiah Fierce put on a clinic last night,
scoring 22 points, dishing out 13 assists,
grabbing 8 boards and adding 4 blocks
and 2 steals on the defensive end.
He locked up the Kings rookie numerous times,
lowering his efficiency to 50% from the field and 27% for 3 at the end.
This was more than enough as the Pelicans secured
their first win of the season
while Sacramento fell into a 0-5 hole.
Slow day today but in my last video we saw
father time finally catching up with Lebron.
You gotta check out this video right here
and talk to you in the next one. Peace out.
Come on bro
