GREATEST START IN PACK SQUADS HISTORY MLB THE SHOW 23

Pack Squads is back and better than ever thanks to the new rank, season, structure, and sets. Season one ranked season rewards are Lou Gehrig, Eric Gagne, and Gunnar Henderson to start ranked seasons. We're gonna work our way from a zero rating all the way up to not just a 900, but we're aiming for that 1,000 name plate this year moving forward. Set one cards and all set base cards have a two season expiration date. The set one cards will not be eligible in season three. This is huge news for Pack Squads, all of you OGs that know what I'm talking about. This plays in perfectly to our rules. If you're new, Let me break it down for you. In every Pack Squad episode, we're going to play one ranked seasons game, maybe two if we get an early quit. We have our own scoring structure for every total base, every walk, and every hit by pitch. We're going to get a standard pack. We're also going to get a standard pack for every run scored, stolen base, diving catch, robbed home run, outfield assist, a strikeout with our pitchers, or if we catch anyone trying to steal a base. We will also receive five bonus packs anytime we have a multi-homer game with a player, A 450 plus Now here comes the special packs. Special packs are any pack in the game Our choice. Every game that we win, we receive a special pack. If we win by Rage Quit, we get to double it and open two. So we have basic packs, which are our standard packs. We have special packs, which are our guaranteed diamond packs, essentially our choice packs. And then we also have our increased chances packs. These are packs that give us just an increased chance at a diamond, but not a guaranteed diamond. Like, for example, this Diamond Duos pack, where you get a choice pack. Increased chance at these 99 overalls, but you also may get a gold. After each ranked season, Before we open packs, though, we will have the chance to make trade-in choices. We can trade in 25 packs. For one of those increased chances packs, like those diamond duos. Or we can also trade in 50 packs flat for one special pack. We usually don't start doing that for a couple weeks into the season though. Right now, standard packs spit out really good players. And we wanna do collections. And now, our new rule change for the year that I'm very excited about. You guys always want me to get the marketplace involved. Every pack will hold a 1,000 stub value. After each ranked season's game, We will have the option to make one trade-in Pack to stub, if we want to trade in 56 packs for 56,000 stubs and grab a specific player off the marketplace, we can do that. Again, probably not something we're going to do until later on, or maybe we need to knock out a collection or there's a specific player we haven't been able to pull, we can do that. We can utilize this feature. And that's about it. I don't want to talk your ears off too much, and from episode to episode, the rules will be in the description box down below for reference. I'm not going to do a full breakdown on every video, but... For episode one, a little bit complex, hope you're following. Here is our starter squad that they gave us when we opened up the game with all of these bronzes here. But of course, we got the pre-order edition, so we get this easily redeemed, free, Diamond Derek Jeter. See if we can get any good upgrades from those bronze players before we jump in. There's so many offline grinds to jump into when you first get into this game. That's the game. We'll go set our lineup and jump into our first game of the year. Our very first game. Oh, I opened one too many. We'll just chalk this as our first pack at the end of the game. We can't use whoever the player is if it's a good one. The good news is it's not. And now a chase pack where we're shooting for 99 Ohtani before we even jump into a game, baby. Come on. Come on. 50 fun toys never come through like this. Like this. I love this game. I haven't played it yet. Well, I think I'm going to add Ohtani to my rotation. Let's go. We actually just hit the feature player in the opening bundle. That's never happened before. So the rotation is going to be Ohtani, Dylan Cease, Alec Manoa, Blake Snell, Brady Singer. A bullpen of Taylor Rogers, Chris Martin, Anthony Bass, Craig Kimbrel, Clay Holmes, David Bednar, Ronnie Garcia, and AJ Puck. And outfield. Of Juan Soto, Brett Phillips, and Anthony Santander in infield of Vladdy Jr., Colton Wong, the free diamond Derek Jeter, bronze Justin Turner, Ryan Jeffers behind the plate, and Otani at DH. We're going to go Ohtani, Derek Jeter, Juan Soto, Vladdy Jr., Anthony Santander, Justin Turner, Brett Phillips, Jeffers, and Colton Wong. Here we go. Game number one. He's got DT Young. This guy's like, are you kidding me, Ohtani? I'm sorry, I could have got a gold player in that pack. My team would look awful right now. I can't believe that just happened. Now let's note, it is morning one of early access brand new year. We don't know if we're playing some dude who's never played the game before or a top 30 player on veteran difficult. This could go so many different ways. This man, Cy Young, is going to be out here taking light years to pitch. What's going on right now? What happened? Oh, no. Oh, no. Don't tell me. Don't tell me. We just got in a first pitch freeze-off. Did he quit? Why did that feel like a quit? Did he just straight up DQ? We're not chalking that as a win for packs or anything. Let's just jump into game two with 60 rating points. We're 1-0, baby. Here we go on the road, this guy has a way better team, he even has a plus 15 bonus added to his squad right now and we're going to ship it, I think we just went from one extreme to the other here, let's go, good pitch, backdoor cutter gets ahead of Ohtani here, now we got to work and protect, it's a good spot too way to fight sir, we'll see another one, come on Ohtani Almost hit us and almost got away from them. We're 2-2 now. Maybe? Late jump from Juan in the shift, but not quite. Let him jam me there. I was thinking cutter in my head before four-seam just caught me off guard. Here comes Jeter. I didn't see a lot of that early, baby. Let's go. Derek Jeter would have rolled me over routine ground ball, but we're on base hit. That's got to be it. We gave it right back to him. Ugly start. Nicky Lopez, perfect, perfect to start the game, but he lines out. I don't feel bad, but you hate to see it. Fly ball to right, didn't quite get that one. Santander will squeeze, and two outs on three pitches. That's the perfect bounce back. Get him over, swing under that. Yeah, baby, there's a bag. We end the inning with a strikeout, three up, three down. Let's go. Early stages here. We got to work out the kinks. Still making some adjustments with our swing. I put the center of the PCI on it too, but we were just out in front. Oh man. All right, we have the sequences down now. We've just got to get one and two to match. We need the dominoes to link up. Front door cutter, 2-0, gets it back in, gets him back in the at-bat, 2-1, then he tried to dot a fastball, we're 3-1, we'll take here all the way, Juan Soto on deck with one out, need a base runner for the big dog, came right after us, was not walking us, does that mean he's throwing it again, is he going to float an off-speed in there, he tried to just float an off-speed in there, had me out in front again too, a lot of soft ground balls for me in this one, very hittable ball, Juan Soto now, I really thought he was going to just come right after me with the fastball again. Juan Soto would have been nice to have a base runner for our first nuke of the season. A perfect perfect and dead center for Juan. 414 so no bonus but a solo shot nonetheless. Bang brings up Vlad now with the lead. Now Vlad perfect perfect have the hype Vladdy. We're one for four on our perfect perfects. It's an insanely hard hit ball, and he don't. That's an error? Come on, game. See, now I'm in my own head. The changeup hung. I tried too hard to let it get deep, and we were late. I'm just all over the place. Underneath of that cutter and we'll fly it's right just like that after the lead off base runner. We have two outs We need a barrel here. I need a two run shot. Nobody better to do it though It'll be a multi homer bonus Wow came right after us and it's 0-2. That's a great pitch great spot And that ball is gonna get down two out based on for one. There's another pack We have two on with two outs now me to the order. Let's do some damage Dang it. I jammed myself. I moved my PCI too much and jammed myself. A foul ball there would have been nice. I've stranded too many runners in this game. Now Nicky Lopez is going to step in and start him with a heater. Wong, maybe? That's going to be a tough play for our guy. He's there. Colton Wong. Oh, no. I got the yellow throw. Vladdy, dig it out over there. That's a great cutter. Beautiful pitch, Otani. Too much mid-pitch second guessing for me in this one, especially when I have those runners on. I'm having all my good swings with nobody on and then folding. It took a while to get going there. A lot of lineouts early. And then we had a couple innings in the middle where we kind of stunk it up. And then we got red hot. What a game. Let's tally up the packs. Alright, we had 25 total bases, we scored 8 runs, we had 1 outfield assist, we caught 1 runner trying to steal a base, and we had 10 strikeouts with Otani. That's 45 packs. We get a 5-pack bonus for our multi-homer game with Juan Soto, our 10-strikeout game with Otani, and our shutout with our pitching staff, that's 15 more packs, gives us a grand total of 60 basic standard packs, and of course, 1 special pack for winning the game. We're not doing any trades today. It's 60 standards and one special, let's rip. Otani goes parallel one. And post-game, we get a diamond bat, a free 88 Sammy Sosa, a free DT Young, aka Cy Young, and a 78 Jazz Chisholm. All right, 60 standards, let's rip through these first, and then we're gonna pick that diamond, that diamond choice pack for our special pack. We got some World Baseball Classic. We're gonna try and get Mike Trout on the team with Otani. That would be sick. Gold Felix Bautista here, about 15 packs in. There's an upgrade to the squad. Let's keep things rolling. Now we're looking for diamonds. I want at least one diamond out of these standards before we get to that premium. We're down to our last two packs here. Remember, we opened one extra at the beginning of the video that counted, and then we had 61, which means this is our last pack. And Rowdy Tellez as maybe a bench bat for Tyler O'Neill. Throw him in there. Now we're going to open up our one guarantee pack. I'm going to use it on this Around the World Diamond Choice Pack. We could hit the rare round for Mike Trout, Sasaki, and Cabrera. But even the base round gives us a 97 plus. And I really like that round too. Can we get the rare round though is the question?
