Community 'disgusted' after veteran's memorial banner vandalized

We're all disappointed, disgusted with the fact that it happened. Waterloo Regional Police are looking for suspects after a Veterans Memorial banner was vandalized in New Hamburg. Police released this surveillance video showing two people dressed head to toe in black walking through the area around 2 a.m. on October 24th. The New Hamburg Legion says no other banners were touched. Here's what they have to say to the people responsible for destroying this one. The amount of turmoil and damage that you did to the family of this young lad is beyond anything you can imagine. It's hurtful. It's damned hurtful. I hope the police can find out who did this. And I hope they prosecute to the ninth degree of the law. This young man here was born and raised just a little bit out of New Hamburg in a town called Bright and was an Afghan veteran with 1st Battalion of the Canadian, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry was killed in 2010 by an IED. So he's a modern day vet. We have we have 200 banners around town, but very few of them are modern-day vets, and it just kind of hurts a lot that a family that's been through so much heartache already has to face something like this. Again. Again, yeah.
