Like it or not, on this Halloween Eve, Mike is here.
All right, and I'm underdressed.
You're underdressed.
Thank you, guys.
Voldemort, I'm sorry, I mean, Bisma is here as well,
showing us all up in this costume.
Oh, my God.
I had a hard time getting through
the last read laughing when you came in.
You look amazing.
Great job.
We've also got Kelsey here.
We've got a great panel this Halloween Eve.
Let's fire it up.
Yep.
New data shows incorporating Halloween
into your dating app profile could increase your chances
of finding a boo. The dating app Hinge says 62% of women
and 79% of men are more likely to swipe
right on someone wearing a funny or sexy Halloween costume.
They also found that more than 90% of
daters would love to go on a Halloween-themed date.
That is interesting. And my favorite
My favorite statistic here, 44% of young women who like Halloween...
Would not date someone who doesn't.
Bisma, you obviously like Halloween.
Would you be uncomfortable dating someone who does not?
I'm only going to be uncomfortable if they're Harry Potter.
Salta.
We'll be okay.
I hate joy anyway.
So, you know, we'll be okay.
That was kind of crazy.
You won't date someone if they don't like Halloween?
Yeah, that's insane.
Well, you know what?
I probably wouldn't date somebody if they didn't like Halloween.
Really?
Yeah, it's so fun.
Look at me.
I mean, oh yeah, that's why we came here first.
Yeah, it just feels like, do you not like fun?
Like, do you not like Christmas?
Do you not like all of the other holidays?
Like, I don't know.
I'm also a huge horror movie fan.
So I
I don't know.
Naturally, just kind of feels like a fun one.
Definitely didn't get that impression from how you dressed up.
We can adapt.
I mean, you're nodding along.
So I also love horror movies, and so I think that's good.
I feel like the only reason someone couldn't
celebrate Halloween, I know, is probably like
the religious regions, but it's a fun holiday, right?
When else do you get to dress up and have fun?
So I feel like if I saw a good costume,
and I love just going through social media and
seeing the costumes, so to me,
I would want you to be wearing a costume.
I don't want you to be stuck up or just look boring.
I mean, maybe I'm in the minority here.
But I had two thoughts.
44% of women wouldn't date a guy because he doesn't like Halloween.
Dating is hard enough.
I don't know that we, like, need to add that standard in there.
But I'm not a huge Halloween gal, and I think I'm fun.
Yeah.
Mike, does that make me uncool?
No, not at all.
Not at all.
You can tell the truth.
I will say that, you know, I'm the shining example of this.
My anniversary is Halloween.
Oh, my God.
Sherry, my anniversary is tomorrow, six years tomorrow.
So we met up in, I mean, we met before that,
but our big first kind of date as boyfriend
and girlfriend was New York City,
Halloween 2020, which was a scary time.
But, look, and fellas, let me give you some advice here.
If your girl likes Halloween, it's the
The perfect night, go out, take her somewhere scary,
she'll hold your hand, she'll cuddle
your clothes.
Well, I don't need to dress up, I'm just naturally scary.
Very good.
But no, it worked out great because, you know,
we're going through haunted houses, she's
cuddling clothes.
Oh, that's smart.
That's perfect.
That's very smart.
Well, there was another statistic in that study
that said people were more comfortable,
women and men, and it was like 40% of them on average.
of approaching people if they had a mask
or a costume on because they felt, I guess,
less exposed. Like, it's less embarrassing
to get denied as Voldemort than as Bigfoot.
Like, you can reject me as Minnie Mouse
and not Sydney and I'll feel, I mean,
does that make sense to you guys?
Yeah, I kind of feel like a lot. I feel really exposed right
now. I've never done this before.
You know, I'm kind of acting cool, but like.
Low-key, I'm like, what?
No, you look amazing.
You look amazing.
The fact that you would put it on and come out and have fun with it
and do that stellar British accent.
It's honestly so fun.
It's really fun.
And that speaks to the character, right?
Like, oh, this is someone willing to
just kind of put themselves out there
and have some fun.
And you look amazing.
Dateable.
And, as Mike said, a great opportunity
to cuddle up with someone in a heart.
All right, we're going to move on now.
Commanders fans are getting home after the game.
Maybe it might get a little easier.
The team is partnering with Uber now
to launch a post-game shuttle service
starting this Sunday night after the Commanders take on the Eagles.
So for $15 a seat, fans can hop on a 54-passenger coach bus
headed to destinations across D.C.
You can reserve up to five seats through
the Uber app up to seven days in advance.
Kelsey.
I feel like these are going to fill up in like
a second now that we've said this on TV.
Yes, this is great.
Like for anybody who's been to Commander's Game, and of course
I know fans are getting ready and excited, right, for Sunday.
I love this, right?
I will say I've been to the majority where
my knees are still good, so I can still walk.
But I hear a lot of people who are like complaining about,
you know, from the Morgan Boulevard Station up
to Northwest Stadium, it's a big walk.
So I love this.
$15 is actually really reasonable.
You think about the traffic you're going to sit in.
You think about parking, you know, at the stadium.
I think this is a smart idea.
And I love that you can do it through your app.
So like this is something that I would probably like participate in.
My only concern probably would be like the timing, right?
Because I feel like it's...
Getting to the stadium, you have to really plan.
Are you tailgating?
Are you trying to get there for tailgates?
Are you trying to just get there for the game?
But I think this should have been done.
Like, it's a headache right now.
Yeah, I mean, I thought it was quite smart.
I mean, you know, Bismarck, I mean, what do you think?
I was thinking especially if you have, like, an older family member,
sometimes the other options are not as doable.
100%.
And the older I get, the more I will pay for convenience.
The wand, I'm dead.
You know what I'm saying?
I will pay the extra money for convenience.
As long as we're not, like, carpooling along the way, you know,
And I'm going to be in the car for like three hours.
Like, yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Amazing idea.
I don't know why we haven't done this before.
Are we missing something?
Is there, like, something, Mike, not to like about this?
We're just being stupid?
No, I guess just where, because it says it goes
to various locations through D.C.,
so obviously it'll be a timing thing.
And to me, you're still sitting in traffic, right?
Usually you're paying for the convenience,
but if this is after the game and they're taking you downtown,
you're going to sit in all that traffic,
but you're hopefully going to do it
with the Commanders fans after a win.
But, like, that's been the number one complaint
about Northwest Stadium forever, right,
is the in, the out.
It's not near a Metro stop.
We can't wait for the RF.
JFK rebuild here coming up soon.
That'll fix a lot of those problems there.
I guess the question is why now?
Well, why not?
Oh, well, I mean, to your point, we could have done this.
There's no better time than the present, Sydney.
You're an optimist, Mike Thomas.
All right, we are now going to move on.
A commute of 29 minutes.
Speaking of sitting in traffic,
29 minutes might be the sweet spot for arriving at work relaxed.
That is according to a new survey of commuters.
But once the commute hits 45 minutes, stress often takes over.
Researchers found adding 20 minutes
to a daily commute can hurt job satisfaction as much as a 19% pay cut.
Mike, what is your ideal commute and what is your commute?
How long do you sit in traffic?
My ideal commute is when I leave at night and I go from,
you know, because we leave around midnight.
And then it's straight home, traffic free.
Mine is right about that length.
29 minutes is about how long it takes me.
Traffic free.
Now, I will say I like that length
because it gives me time to get out of like home mode into work mode.
That's about what, five songs on Spotify.
You get your groove going.
You're alone in the car most of the time.
So I'm singing my heart out.
And, you know.
Waving friendly at people who cut me off on the road.
Friendly, he wants to clarify.
Very friendly.
Certainly with all five fingers like that.
But yeah, we have a good time.
But you know, it does help de-stress.
And then leaving work, it helps me de-stress from work
to get back home into relaxation mode.
I like it.
I will say this is my first time in my career
having this long of a commute.
Mine's about 25 minutes.
So just, you know, 20, 25, depending on,
and I also don't hit much traffic.
So I also work nights.
But in my experience, the first two jobs I had,
I lived less than a five-minute drive away,
and I thought I was going to be miserable with this scenario.
And I actually kind of like the separation
because we don't hit traffic generally.
I have time to listen to my podcast.
I call my mom generally or my friends from my old job.
I kind of like the separation.
And to your point, by the time I'm home.
Not that I don't love my job, but I've let the workday go
and I'm ready when I get home to see my cat and go to sleep.
You got me on the cat.
That's literally what I'm thinking when I'm trying to go home.
But a lot of times, because I work in politics, right?
So I'm going to Richmond to go to the Capitol and all the things.
That's a two-hour drive.
I didn't know what to do until I got my car and now it self-drives
and it makes my life so much easier because...
For a long time, I was like, is this sustainable?
Like, can I really do this?
And, you know, for a while, I've been living two months out of a hotel
because it was just like, you can't go back and forth like that.
Yeah, you just can't do it.
And luckily, you know, the situation worked out, but it's a lot.
There's a big toll that stress takes on you when it comes to commuting.
Yeah.
I mean, welcome to life in the metropolitan area, right?
Like so many people I feel like have,
I think COVID kind of spoiled us though, right?
Like work from home and a lot of us got used to work from home life.
I work in sports, so it's kind of hard because I'm everywhere, right?
Like in the day.
But I think for me, like 30 minutes is good.
I've always lived off the red line here
in the DMV area on purpose because I feel like
that line is efficient.
It can move fast.
You know when to miss rush hour if you're from the area, right?
But I just don't get 30 minutes.
It's a good time for me to.
Like, relax, unwind.
I also called my parents, you know, during that time.
But anything longer than that is too, it's too long.
Yeah, like nobody wants to sit an hour.
Because that's two hours.
gone out of your day, right?
That's really sad when you say it that well.
Well, that brings us to our Fox 5 Lion Instapoll question.
We want to know what you think.
A commute of roughly 30 minutes.
Go to fox5dc.com slash lion to weigh in.
You can scan the QR code right there on the screen to cast your vote.
Right now, 90% like it.
That is actually quite surprising.
I thought people would think we were crazy
and that 30 minutes was way too much.
10% do not like it.
We're going to check the results.
Coming up later in the show, so be sure to weigh in.
Stay with us.
We'll be right back after this.
Give us a spell going in the break.
Oh, my God!
Welcome back in and take
a look at this play.
You can see LeBron here in just a moment.
He gets chased down and blocked at the rim by Jalen Slosson.
You saw it there at the Indiana Pacers.
And then after the play, Slosson appears to apologize to LeBron,
who reacts himself with a puzzled look.
LeBron is turning 42 in a couple months and many current NBA players,
they grew up watching him.
So fans online are comparing this moment to like a son beating
his dad in a pickup game in the backyard for the very first time.
Kelsey, what do you make of the whole interaction?
Oh my gosh, I love this.
First off, who isn't happy that the NBA is back?
We get moments like this.
Look, everything, every young player has looked up to LeBron, right?
At some moment in our time, let's remember we're living in an age where
like the GOAT debate for these young guys, it's LeBron for them, right?
For many of us, I'll say older-ish folks, it's been MJ.
I love the face he gave to it.
Obviously, you can tell they were kind of playing around with it.
But, look, LeBron wanted to come back.
He's in Philadelphia with the 76ers.
So this is what you get, right, competitive basketball.
So I'm never mad at this, but I did love this moment
and seeing it go viral on social media.
Mike?
Yeah, I mean, are you kidding?
He might have apologized in the moment.
Now, did he do it a little sarcastically based
on the facial expression?
You think it was sarcastic?
Oh, yeah, I mean, you kind of like.
I didn't think it was sarcastic.
I think he was trying to get into LeBron's head a bit
Because the last thing...
The thing LeBron wants to hear after that is, oh, my bad, old-timer.
Oh, my bad.
It looked shady.
It did.
But you know, as a young guy in the league,
he's texting like his mom, his dad, his friend.
You see me blocking the block.
Hall of Famer.
Hall of Famer.
You see it.
Look, future Hall of Famer right here.
I got the block.
So look, I think it's all in good fun.
But you're right.
And LeBron decided to come back for another year.
And this is the league, as they call it.
Oh, my God.
That's so interesting.
You've got to bring your best or you're getting blocked.
I did not think it was shady.
I thought it was like just an impulse and was really sweet.
But you thought it was shady?
Oh, that's trash talk.
Oh, ----.
Like you said, he's going to go back to the group chat and be like,
oh, do you guys see that?
Like it's a total shade, but I kind of like it.
You know, it's tea. It's tea. Yeah. I thought it was sweet.
I mean, I obviously misread this situation, but I to me, it did give,
as we said in the introduction, like a kid beating his dad.
And maybe it's both right. Like maybe it is a little shady,
but it's in response to like, damn, I just did that.
Like, wow.
You're you're him. You're the guy.
Yeah, I guess LeBron. I thought it was sweet.
And I could understand to LeBron's reaction of like, yeah,
you're apologizing for what? That's offensive. Yeah.
So it all makes good sense. But yes, I thought it was sweet.
Maybe we misread the situation.
All right, we will now move on,
as there is a lot of debate online about exercise equipment.
Gym goers are calling out high-end fitness studios
for handing clients disinfectant wipes
to clean sweaty equipment in between classes.
If you've been to one of these places, you've experienced this.
You finish the class and say, here's the wipe.
Wipe down your equipment.
The studios say it's good etiquette,
but Bisma, should luxury services also include,
like, the cleaning service?
I mean, they can include the cleaning service,
but I feel like this is good practice.
Like, every time I go to Solid Core, you know, at the end of it, like,
you know, it's just a courtesy.
The instructor gives you a little, like, um...
Kleenex or whatever it is and then you wipe it down
and it's it's not a big deal.
I feel like it's it makes me feel like the whole place is cleaner
because we're constantly cleaning and you're working out.
In a place where several people are working out every day,
I don't know, it feels good.
Like, I feel like it can go both ways.
Yeah, I go to SolidCore, I go to F45.
It's never bothered me if I've been asked to clean my own equipment.
They're not asking you to do, like, a deep clean sanitization.
It's like, hey, wipe this down.
And I think it is, I don't know,
I think it's courteous to the person next to you.
I also think when you go to one of these
places, like, you're assuming that...
Maybe, like, someone else sweated on it before you.
It's okay.
You shower after it.
But I think it's the respectful thing to do.
And I do get annoyed.
Like, some of the influencers online that complain about this,
you know, they're making a ton of money.
I'm not saying they don't have manners.
But I think a lot of the people who I've seen complain about this.
are very successful.
They make a lot of money
and they might have
cleaning services
so they're not used
to having to clean
their own thing.
For those of us
who cannot afford
regular cleaning services.
I didn't even know
this was an issue.
I've seen there's been
some controversy on TikTok
in the past,
not as recently,
but about some influencers
saying this is so stupid
if I'm paying for this
it should be included.
But I think that if you are like,
I'm not saying influencers
with money or people with money
don't clean their own stuff,
but sometimes you don't
if you can afford it.
I think just wipe it down.
No, you can't.
Do you disagree?
No, I don't disagree.
I think this is the most first world problem.
Yeah, I mean.
Like, what do you want, a butler to sit
there while you do your sit-ups?
Let me clean that for you right away.
You're at the gym.
You're sweating.
You're gross afterwards.
Take the little towel, wipe where your butt is,
and then move on to the next machine.
Everybody does this at the gym.
This is a common courtesy.
You got folks on TikTok or whatever complaining.
That's my problem with TikTok.
Mike, I just want to say I've never been on Like It or Not with you.
You're very funny.
I didn't know you had this.
I didn't know you had this idea.
I just give it a dose of reality.
No, you, I've never seen this from you.
This is good.
I like it.
We're just never in this setting together.
Just wait till the second block.
Oh, God.
It's going to get good.
It's going to get spicy here.
Kelsey, what are you doing?
You know, I agree.
Look, I think, look, we've all been taught etiquette.
Well, hopefully we've all been taught etiquette when we were younger.
It's kind of like for me at a restaurant.
Like, I hate when people leave, like, their dirty trash there.
Like, you know, pick it up and put it away.
I'm not one of those people
that's like, oh, somebody's going to come clean it up.
I feel like if you've been to the gym since we were in high school,
you were taught to wipe down the equipment.
I don't know what's new, but just because you're
in a luxury place, you don't change.
I just think we need to bring back just being
good citizens, being good human beings.
They're called manners, people.
Yeah, they're called mailers.
Apparently we stopped teaching them on TikTok.
Yeah, that is true in more ways than one.
And this is also a really great story about cleaning,
and I want everyone's thoughts.
So would you rather take off on time on a flight?
Or wait for a plane to be clean?
That's the questions passengers at LaGuardia Airport faced.
A pilot announced to passengers waiting at the gate
that a dog had urinated in the cabin on the previous flight,
and the pilot offered two options,
either delay departure so they could clean it up
or leave on time with the smell still on the plane.
Now, here's what my favorite part of the story is.
The passengers, they were asked to vote by a show of hands.
The video posted online, though, it
doesn't show exactly what they decided.
Mike, how would you have voted?
All right, so a little bit
of dog pee doesn't bother me, and at least so.
You were talking about you have a cat.
I got five cats and a dog.
Wow.
My wonderful fiancée, Sherry, works in veterinary medicine,
and 90% of the time, instead of cats coming
in and taking the long sleep,
she saves them, and then they become my cats.
Yay!
Yay Sherry. Because, you know,
I come home and they're in a box on the table and I go,
oh, we have more cats. It's wonderful.
But like, you know, you get used to a certain pet smell
after a period of time. So if I'm on that plane, let's go.
I want to get where I'm going. Hands
up. Let's take off on time.
We'll clean up when we're getting to Vegas or wherever else we're
That's where we're going.
FISMA.
Listen, okay.
I see your point.
You get used to it.
But cat pee is very potent, guys.
I know you know.
I do.
It is disgusting.
Okay, I love my kitty, but I will never get used to that smell.
But this was dog pee, right?
This was dog pee.
But I think the question that you could just on principle,
if there's a bad smell of pee on the plane, what's the preference?
Now, I will say that.
Can we add one thing to this?
Yeah.
If the pee is on my seat.
Or at my feet.
Oh, yeah, that would change it.
That would change it.
That would change it.
Well, if the pee is on his seat, let's go.
Wow.
Not my problem.
Remember that manners thing we were talking about?
That's out the window when we're talking about pee.
I will say this, though, for me, I'm not a pet person.
So maybe I'm the minority of this group.
I've never had a pet.
I am not used to, like, pet smells.
Like, even in my building when I've seen, like...
Pee in the elevator, like, I'm the one that goes, tells, like,
you know, our leasing office, like, it needs to be cleaned.
And the fact that that's a problem.
So, for me, I have a sensitive nose.
Like, for me, I'm sorry.
The plane is not taking off.
Someone does need to come clean that.
Because I just think that's, like, I don't know.
I just think it's a sanitary thing.
I don't know.
I've seen dog, like, dog pee is, to me, it's strong.
I don't know.
Cat pee is strong.
So, like, I wouldn't be mad.
I'd be mad more at the person who let that happen, right?
Because why would you let that happen on a plane?
We've got to go to break, but we've got
another good one right when we come back.
Let's do the wand again.
To like it or not, it has been quite the whirlwind
for the Milwaukee Brewers since winning
the franchise's first ever World Series title on Wednesday night.
And the madness, it continued today
with a victory parade through Milwaukee.
Captain Christian Yellich announced to the crowd,
quote, we've had way too many parade beers.
I took the trophy to the face, got a black eye.
It is all worth it.
Some of the players also said.
They have not been to sleep since they won it all,
meaning Tuesday night would have been
the last time they slept.
It is Friday.
Bismarck was the longest amount of time he's ever stayed awake.
Holy crap.
Guys, I sleep a lot.
I don't know about you.
That is insane.
If I won, I'd probably just stay asleep.
Yeah, I don't know.
It's like you don't have to do anything now.
But I understand, like, there's a lot of hype.
They want to, like, celebrate with everybody.
This is probably one of the greatest moments of their life.
Like, go all out, you know.
Don't sleep if that's what you want to do.
But I don't know how they're functioning.
Well, I mean, what's the difference between a World Series title
and an ACC fencing championship that I had in college?
Hi, thank you, thank you.
I did pull an all-nighter close to it that night,
because you're excited, you know, you're with your team,
you're partying late, but I did go to sleep after,
and I went to class afterwards, so three days, two and a half days,
it's a little crazy, but they have reason to celebrate, Mike.
No, I mean, it's no bigger celebration than winning
your major league championship, and look,
it's not like these guys are bored, I mean, they are having a blast,
as he said, they're drinking way too many beer, if you
were watching the football game, the Thursday night football game,
they were in Green Bay, doing the Lambeau Leap with the trophy.
Which I'm sure it makes people go one drop of that trophy.
You're in trouble there, but can't blame them
I I think in college and that's the other thing I forget is you know
You can tell when you're your age and when you look at these guys
You're like all these guys are in their teens
and low 20s like they're all young when I was in college
I think I did 48 hours.
Wow you did what what was the grand event? Yeah?
A good time.
Oh!
Oh, my God.
He doesn't need a response.
We need that story later.
All right.
Yeah.
I'll just say quickly, it was adrenaline.
This is what we love in sports.
Now, I also don't believe, though, that they were up this whole time.
They took some naps.
Yeah, someone took a nap.
Even though they're going to say that, it's a good storyline.
But, look, I love all the things about celebrations.
It was history made.
Like you said, I've been loving seeing them celebrate.
The fans are celebrating.
I mean, we've seen fans that have never seen this in their lifetime.
All right, we're rushing a break again.
Right when we come back, poll results.
A roughly 30-minute commute.
Let us know what you think.
Oh, 70-30, it's changing.
That's interesting.
Let's take one more look at our poll results,
a commute of roughly 30 minutes at fox5dc.com
slash lion, and it's looking like 66% of people like
the commute of 30 minutes, 34% do not.
Okay, interesting.
It seems like people have evened out a little bit on that.
People agree with us, though.
Thank you.
Thank you.
As you should at home.
Yes, yes.
Do you like it or not?
It's coming up on Fox Local, so go ahead, scan that QR code.
