Richmond Hill's David Bondar in 7th after short program at Skate Canada International
Oct 31, 2026
So on the ice now a 19 year old
that was the junior national
champion last year,
competed
in
junior
worlds
last
season
as well.
Oh hand down on the quad
toe, could have been
a little bit short
on rotation there.
Oh just gorgeous on the axle, great transitions in and out.
Oh
that
was a
perfect
combination.
Triple Lutz, long and low,
which gave him plenty of momentum for a great triple toe on the end.
Wasn't
that
fun?
Well,
remember
this
guy's
name,
David Bondar.
the music, that program incidentally choreographed
by Benoit Richaud,
and it had his signature moves all the way through it, didn't it?
But I tell you what,
it was real clutchy, etched over every single one of those elements.
Got a sneaky feeling that quad toe might have
been slightly under-rotated.
reaching him at the door.
So here is that toe. Let's take a look. Does he make it round?
Roundup.
Whoa.
Really difficult to tell at that speed,
but I think it might have been inside the last quarter.
Remember, if you're inside the last quarter, you get a cue,
which means you get the base value of the jump.
But the grade of execution has to go down.
If you're inside the last half a rotation...
Then the base value of the jump is going to go down
and the base value goes and the grade of execution goes down.
And then if you're more than half a rotation under rotated, you don't
want that to happen because then you get the value of the lesser jump.
So if you're going for a quad, you'll get the base value of a triple
and negative GOE on that, which is a real killer.
Fantastic quality here. That combination was sensational, wasn't it?
As was the triple axel. Spins were great. I had him at four on.
All the spins and looking down, technical panel have given him
a level four on the step sequence as well.
So he really did leave it all out there.
Great stuff. Loved it.
73.87, O'Morgue is in the lead. He's going to do that. Yeah, 77.48.
Yates.
A job well done. He should be thrilled with that.
