The Old Mackerel Road to Kyoto | Wakasa, Fukui — Hidden Japan in Autumn

This time, we traveled to Wakasa in autumn!
We strolled through Kumagawa-juku, a historic post town on the Saba Kaido (Mackerel Road), and visited Uriwari Falls—one of Japan's 100 Best Waters—as well as Wakasahiko Shrine and Mantokuji Temple⛩️
In the evening, we enjoyed seasonal fugu (pufferfish) cuisine at Wakasa Fugu no Yado Shimojo🐡
The next day, we made a few stops along Wakasa Bay and the Tagarasu Rice Terraces on our way to the Mikata Five Lakes!
From Rainbow Line Summit Park, we took in a sweeping view of the five lakes and the Sea of Japan
We hope you enjoy this autumn journey through Wakasa as if you were traveling with us🍁
