Good morning. Good morning. Welcome to Dude RV.
Hey, I appreciate y'all stopping by and of course, say it with me,
you got here just in time. Just in time, that's right.
It's Friday and it's time for another edition of Friday's Finds.
In case you don't know, Friday's Finds is a product compilation show.
Vendors send me products.
They offer me a lot of products and I pick
and choose that which interests me and I think might
interest you.
I like to look for things that I can use or that you might use.
Last week we put
solar panels on the little micro RV
and I'm working on my lighting situation too. Anyway.
So last week we we did
a whole install where I put solar panels on the micro RV.
We're actually going to continue with that today.
Most of these products will be available through
Amazon and I do earn a little revenue if you make a purchase.
I've got to put that disclaimer
out there so the feds don't come lock me up.
Anyway, I don't want you to be deceived.
So they sent me the products, I unboxed them,
five to four to five, six products.
If you see it laying on the table
at the beginning, but you don't see it,
that means it didn't do what they said it would do or whatever.
It doesn't, if it doesn't do what they say it does,
you don't ever see it.
So we're going to be doing a little different one this time.
And I think we're going to call this the 60 year old dude's gone crazy
because y'all are going to think I've gone crazy.
I've had several people tell me that.
Still have waiting on a couple of these boxes to show up,
but we're gonna be looking at transportation on this episode.
Before I start this,
I gotta set the stage.
Like most storage buildings, this one's got a mess going on.
Anyway, in case you don't know, I have mobility issues.
And for years I've relied on a mobility scooter,
and this is actually my fourth, fifth mobility
scooter. This is a, it's a stand-up scooter.
The seat is more decorational than anything. I ride
this standing up when it works.
That's the second one of those models I've had. They all have the
exact same problem. They have several issues.
The first one is it's heavy. It weighs 85 pounds.
The second one is the company that sells it doesn't
do a very good job in supporting it and
they tell you a lot of stuff that ain't true about the characteristics
and capabilities.
And this scooter has left me stranded more times than I can count.
And that's dead right now
because the wiring harness needs to be replaced.
When I transport it, it takes up the whole back of the pickup and
The nerve stuff that I deal with has really started to affect my hands,
and riding anything these days is getting to be very,
very uncomfortable.
With that being said, I still want to continue the show,
and just because I've turned 60 doesn't mean that I'm old.
I'm cautious.
And y'all are like, what is this?
What is he going on?
So I've been looking.
And at the last camp trip, and I've actually had this thought before,
because there's a couple of YouTubers that I occasionally watch
that use this technology that we're about to start talking about.
And I think it's actually going to work out for me.
So with that being said, I'm scared.
So I didn't want to go all in until I knew.
I thought I thought it would work but I wasn't sure
so I went and made a purchase. Be right back.
Meet the A-Skate. This is actually a power
this is an amazon product it's a it's a child's
this is a toy or is it it is a powered skateboard it's got
a lithium ion battery pack just got a
motor a wheel one wheel is powered through
a remote carbon fiber platform good wheels
I mean, it wasn't, this isn't a real expensive product,
it's available through Amazon, I actually bought a refurb unit,
my investment into this was like $140, so that I could figure out
whether or not this was going to serve my needs as a mobility device,
not this particular one, but one similar to this.
This is rated to carry 180 pounds,
which puts me right at the upper limits of its abilities.
It does not have enough power to climb a hill with me on it.
It does a great job of rolling on this super smooth concrete
so that I can learn whether or not I can actually do this.
Can I stand on it and move?
I have a hard time walking because the bottom of my feet
and my legs hurt so bad when I walk and after I walk.
But I can stand, and I can move.
And on the big stand-up scooter, I'm doing that,
but I'm having to steer, and it vibrates my hands.
So my thought is, if I have a platform that moves at a walking speed
or a little bit faster, and I can navigate,
I can.
This is a mobility device. If I can actually do it.
Not this particular one. But this is proof of
concept. And so I've been practicing.
I've had it about three days, four days. And I have learned
that I can actually drive this little thing.
And I'll show you that this afternoon. Meanwhile,
we've got to open some more stuff.
I'm running along here. It's got to be a short,
We're a 20-minute video, so being cautious.
I went out and bought some additional stuff.
I've been needing to get a pair of fingerless
gloves for a long time anyway,
and I went and found some handy fingerless gloves.
And if you'll recall,
several years back I had an incident on my stand-up mobility
scooter that I just showed you, where I went over the handlebars,
hit a speed bump at that speed.
So these are actually padded.
I have another, I have more wardrobe accessories on the way and
you'll see how this all works together when I get it.
But I have found over the years that gloves
helps distract my brain from the discomfort in my hands.
And we've got some padding here,
maybe that'll help. And if I fall,
I won't have the palms of my hands turn into a hamburger.
As has happened in the past.
So, the handlandy, better safety, better life.
So, on that theme,
concrete is hard and unforgiving.
Therefore, at 60,
I feel it's critical for me to protect my bones
and the important bones that get impacts.
Therefore, we have...
Knee pads.
Elbow pads. I'm not sure these are going to work with the gloves.
I don't see why they wouldn't, but they certainly will.
Now we have a way to keep the wrist from becoming injured.
Don't ask me to,
because it makes it rather difficult
to do anything other than going forward.
So I don't want to spend a whole lot of money to learn,
to find out if I was actually able to do this,
which is why I went and looked for a value, a good buy.
And I've actually, this was actually a second
or a manufacturer refurb used or something.
And it was retail at $139.
So I spent $140.
That was on prime with shipping.
There's a remote. I don't know.
I've traveled the patio for like four days in a row. It lasts
about two hours at low speed.
There are four settings, and you change the settings by double
clicking the speed button.
It goes one direction, and that's forward,
but there's a brake. Now I
need to put it on the floor
so you can see it go. So when I go
to step on it, I pull the brake in,
Then it doesn't run away without the brake.
It rolled really well, but with the break,
you're wondering, you're probably thinking,
where's these shoes? Well,
I'm doing this part barefoot, number one, because
I only feel my feet about half as well as you probably can feel yours.
And I need to make sure I know where to stand
and how this feels. So I'm wearing here barefoot.
I have
footwear
on the way.
Money. I'm very
impressed.
I'm 180 pounds.
Six foot two, and it can move me.
Now, that being said, I've taken it out on the county road,
which is a pretty good hill.
There's not enough power to go up the hill.
However, the brake works very well going downhill
to control the speed.
But this is really not what I need
for my personal transportation system.
You'll see that on Friday.
Meanwhile, gotta open another box.
Apparently, apparently, we had another box.
Another big box arrived.
And this, this is gonna turn the episode.
This Friday's final episode is,
this is the transportation solution episode.
We're gonna open this big box right here.
Now.
If you were watching the last video,
you saw a scooter box and then you didn't see a scooter.
Well, this one showed up and the box is open.
This is the A11T Max.
That last scooter, it was missing parts and stuff,
so I just put it back in the box and sent it on its merry way.
Let's take a look at this one.
We're doing this.
In this episode, tomorrow,
you'll see why this is the transportation episode.
And I told Yappy, this is what we were doing,
and she said, well, what about me?
I said, all right, that's where this is. This is for her.
We were down at Martin Dye's,
and that was a hike to go to the restroom.
So we have decided to get
her her own transportation solution.
I mean we got set up,
we got running lights on the side that's cool
and we have shocks it has it's
it requires a kick to get started like a like
an old Harley Davidson you got kicker to get her going
so it's pretty simple i haven't got to the app yet
to turn it on and you can see the lights on the
side come on and
then to scoot you
push it off there
you go let's go for
a ride up the hill
Check the mailbox.
See how well it does on rough ground.
We have a bell to let people know you're coming.
The real
test
to handle
my driveway.
No, it does not do well on the slag.
This is a tough material to navigate on with anything.
So we'll get up here on the road and give it a try.
Okay, we're up on the road.
We're gonna go downhill
and then we'll see
if we can go uphill.
Disc brakes, I like that.
Now, does it have the power?
Absolutely.
Check
that
out.
As soon as you switch back,
you got a little
bit more speed.
All right.
Yappy gonna be happy now.
I like the little scooter.
Gotta go get that.
Let's go figure out the app.
So one of the questions I need to answer is,
can I talk to you and run
the thing at the same time?
So I just drive around here on the patio real slow,
every day, about an hour every day,
riding around real slow, learning,
getting the muscle memory down.
I found it the first day.
I was backwards.
I was leading with my right foot,
which is the stronger foot these days.
The left one is the one I damaged.
And so I steer
with the right
foot now.
In time, it will be second nature.
But
now, I
gotta
think
about
it.
Right, step on.
Board is cupped so that the toe, the ball of your foot,
actually has a place to grab a hold.
Hey, that's going
to be a much better picture than me walking and bouncing.
Big box
just
arrived!
I've been waiting. I've been waiting for this.
I'm so excited.
Let me cut off. You don't need to see me cutting the stuff.
Let me get it open.
Sponsored by Dude RV.
Actually, this is as much for y'all as it is for me.
Me?
