You know, the fans in Valhalla, boy,
they were going crazy, both inside as well as outside.
And then pouring out after the Valkyries championship victory,
KTVU's Betty Yu was there live in Thrive City
as they saw it at a watch party on the big screen.
Betty, we've heard it so often from the players.
Their fans bring it with next level energy,
the cheers and the faith in this team.
That must have been incredible seeing it out there.
Looks like fans are still there now.
That's right, Jana. The fans aren't ready to go home just yet.
The celebration continues here
at Thrive City. And to your point,
one of the fans I spoke with said that what they
give to this team, the team gives right back.
To Valhalla. Now, as you can see behind me,
many fans at this hour taking photos with this
brand new sign outside Chase Center.
It says 2026 WNBA champions, the Golden State Valkyries. Now,
I have been talking to fans
who have literally lost their voices from screaming so much tonight.
It felt like the roof was about to come off Chase Center
when that final buzzer hit.
And that is the moment Bahala has been waiting for.
Confetti raining down, fans were jumping up and down,
hugging, screaming, some with tears of joy in their eyes.
Now, everybody was on their feet for much of this game.
The noise was truly deafening inside this arena.
As you said, it was a hard-fought Game 7.
The Valkyries trailed Atlanta at halftime
before Gabby Williams completely changed the momentum
in the third quarter, ultimately leading Golden State.
to a 68-63 victory over the Atlanta Dream.
The celebration then spilled outside where Thrive City turned
into one giant Halloween dance party.
The music has been going for hours.
Championship shirts are already on display.
And plenty of costumes are mixed in with a sea of violet.
It's so beautiful and I like the fact
that we're like we can celebrate together because this
community is so amazing
because we have look we got like all ages out here and all different
colors and we all celebrate one thing
and it's just wonderful and I just love this city for this.
I love it. I'm just happy that we're here. Yeah!
When was the time you were this happy?
I said the Warriors won 2022.
I don't know if you can see.
Yeah, yeah, we ran out of there, we went inside, we went shopping.
Can you show us what else you got?
I got some for my wife, you know, who's in Mexico right now,
but we went shopping, we went crazy today.
We went crazy.
Oh my God, it was so emotional.
Like, we were up, we were down, but we trusted our team.
And we knew that they would come through.
Because of all the coaching and the defense that we play,
we trusted our defense.
And our defense showed up today, and that's why we won.
Go!
It was absolute bewilderment, you know, standing out there
and, you know, getting a lot
of sideways glances for the hot dog outfit,
but the game was just such a nail-biter.
Our heart rate was through the roof,
blood pressure was through the roof.
It was crazy.
It doesn't get better than this.
Maybe a repeat next year.
A repeat.
A lot of people are with him on that one
and this was the first game seven in the WNBA finals history
ending with the first championship for the Golden State Valkyries.
Now just two seasons again into their existence, this team made
incredible history tonight and the support for this team has
also been amazing. The Warriors
have been behind him, behind the team all season long.
Draymond Green and Jaxson Lundenberg.
Borg, as you mentioned, we're in the crowd tonight.
And a really touching moment that
happened on the court after the big win tonight.
Gabby Williams was embracing her youth coach
on the court who had coached her since she
was nine years old here in the Bay Area.
He had tears in his eyes,
just truly an unforgettable moment and a powerful reminder
of what this championship means to the players,
to their families and all the people.
And the fans, of course, that helped them reach this moment.
Jana?
Yes, and they certainly are good at giving back
to the community and those young people.
Wonderful to see that moment for Williams.
Betty, you've been out there all night getting
the reaction from the fans.
Thank you so much.
