Hello everyone and happy holidays.
Welcome back to the channel. In today's video,
I'm going to be decorating my back porch for the holidays.
So let's get started.
As a designer, I love seeing new trends at market every year.
And this year was all about vintage Christmas,
which makes my heart so...
So this season I'm going to be decorating my back porch in that classic
Christmas style which reminds me of the old days
and it'll be a backdrop for
making new memories.
So I'll be using classic Christmas colors, flags, greenery
and other elements to really create a vintage Christmas feel.
For this video I
partnered with Covey.
Their stunning beautiful light effects made them the
I'm excited to show you the impact they had
on the entire porch, but more on that in just a bit.
For my large tree in the corner, I'm using traditional plaid ribbon
from John Mark, then a green velvet and an antique gold.
I'll be adding these ribbons in a few other areas around
the porch to make sure the entire room has a cohesive design.
I'm adding the ribbon in both streamers and bows.
Streamers show off more of the ribbon surface,
but there's just something about classic bows
that really feels like Christmas to me.
When my kiddos were younger,
decorating the tree together used to be a family tradition.
I'd put on Christmas music, light the fire,
and we'd spend the evening adding bows and ornaments to the tree.
I have to be honest though,
They were just terrible at it.
All the ornaments ended up clustered together
on the bottom half of the tree,
and all the bows were crooked too.
So I'd wait until they went to bed to redecorate the tree myself.
I know I can't be the only one who did that.
I added a smaller tree in the opposite corner,
and I'm using a coordinating ribbon to tie in with the main tree.
But this time, I'm just doing layered bows.
A few vintage berry picks and star ornaments and this tree is done.
I found these striped sheets and they immediately took me back in time.
I had flannel Christmas sheets just like them when I was a little girl.
A few more cozy elements and my day bed is ready to snuggle in.
We sit at our dining table quite a bit, even in the winter.
So I'm adding a simple garland with goby lights to the middle
And then filling it in with more picks for ornaments.
One of my favorite things to add
to any Christmas decor is real magnolia leaves.
They make me think of the olden days
when people decorated with what they could forage or make themselves.
Plus I live in the south and we love using magnolia.
I'm going to add some fake pears for color and nostalgic charm.
And finish off the garland with a classic red ribbon.
Finally, I'm setting candlesticks throughout,
so we can have candlelit dinners together.
Scott is hanging some vintage-inspired art
for me above our mantel, while I add more
goby lights to the garland.
Found these vintage-looking wicker bells,
and with some classic plaid ribbon, it adds
the perfect touch.
While I add a few more decorative touches to the porch,
Scott is going to hang goby
lights around the perimeter of the porch.
To me, decorating for Christmas truly brings me joy.
I love creating a space that feels cozy and festive for my family.
And I believe one of the best tools for creating
a truly magical holiday home is lighting.
That warm glow that makes the glitter twinkle, the ribbon shine, and
illuminates the space on a dark winter night is what it's all about.
Our trees and decor always had warm white lights, but when my kids
were little, I let them hang colorful Christmas lights in their rooms.
They still talk about that,
how those lights made their Christmas magical.
They've even started hanging colorful lights
in their children's bedrooms at Christmas
because it feels so nostalgic to them.
And now they're creating that feeling for their own kiddos.
Gobi has dozens of exclusive vintage lighting effects,
meaning I can create any vibe I want with the touch of a button.
These lights also work with AI, can pair with music,
And can be set to timer
so you never have to worry about turning them on or off.
I invited one of my grandbabies over to see the porch transformation.
She was so excited to see the lights.
We showed her how we can change them to any design.
Like Barbie pink, classic colors,
or the more Ralph Lauren style I chose with simple warm whites.
She thought Nana's Christmas porch was awesome.
We had a special evening making memories under the twinkling lights.
Thank you for decorating with me today.
I hope you found some inspiration for your
porch or for your home.
A huge thank you to Govee for their amazing lights.
They totally transformed
this porch into a winter wonderland
and they created the atmosphere for making special
memories. I cannot recommend them enough.
