Good morning and welcome to Monday.
I'm meteorologist Cody Matz with a
look at that forecast and it's
going to be a soaker of a day and
it's going to be pretty wet over
the next three or so days as this
huge area low pressure pushes its
way in and just sits and spins and
we get the moisture from that and
there's going to be a lot of it.
As we head through the day, Monday is going to be a soaker of a day,
especially during the daylight hours.
Essentially, we'll call it 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
give or take as all this rolls its way in.
And so we'll see a soaker of a lunch hour from the Twin Cities Metro,
especially northwestward, northern and western Minnesota.
Could see some moderate downpours at times.
And then that all generally trails off as we head.
Into and kind of through your evening commute, give or take 5,
6, 7 p.m., and then we could see some large lulls.
Granted, going to stay active, going to stay cloudy, active.
The radar will be active statewide,
but there's going to be some big lulls out there,
12 or 18 hours at a time, maybe dry and quiet,
and then suddenly we get some showers kind of develop overhead.
Those will kind of wax and wane and ebb and flow as we head through
the day Tuesday and into the day on Wednesday as well.
Finally, by Wednesday evening, this whole all shift.
South and eastward. But until then,
it is going to be pretty wet at times. And check out some
of your rainfall totals between now and early Thursday.
Could see a half inch to an inch, maybe an inch and a half here
in the Twin Cities metro parts of southeastern Minnesota.
But a widespread swath of a half inch
and a half to three plus inches possible from the North Shore.
A lot of northern and parts of western Minnesota
that will take us through about the next 72 hours.
That is a huge amount of rain for this time of the year.
So some really good news for the
drought considering the ground is
no longer frozen and generally speaking,
the vegetation is now dormant,
so it's going to all soak into
the ground and just stay there.
And that's really good news as we move forward.
So a soaker of a day as we head through
the day Monday, but certainly not chilly.
High temperatures in those lower to mid
60s in central and southern Minnesota.
Some 50s to the north.
Heaviest rain the farther
north and West you go.
And then that just.
Basically winds down to some scattered showers Monday night,
but temperatures continue to climb 64 overnight
in the metro mid to upper sixties across our eastern zone.
Still some fifties across the west and then we fall a few degrees
as we head through the day. Tuesday, some cool air starts
to fill in still some scattered showers left over Tuesday.
That will take us into the day on Wednesday as well as temperatures
slide back to the lower fifties and we pretty much hold there.
But finally dry out on Thursday,
low fifties Friday and Saturday with the next chance of
Some showers possible in the early part of your weekend.
