Hey everyone, it's Deja from crocheteverafter.com. Today
I have something to show you
and what this is is a crochet hook.
I haven't opened it yet because I love the packaging from this company
so much I always have to show it.
This is the Bee Queen collection, so you can see the letter B, and then
there's a queen chess piece in their logo, so that's the Bee Queen.
I just did a review and reveal on one of their die boxes, which
is so awesome, and you can check out the link in the description about
the giveaway that's still going on through June 20th for a die box.
But I wanted to get a hook, and I said,
hey, I really want to buy a hook.
This is what I want, and she said,
I will send you one if you just do it on a video.
So I lucked out and have this hook now that I am going to show you.
I haven't even seen it yet, so this is very exciting.
And inside is a business card.
So it's the Bee Queen Collection
and on the back it tells what my hook is.
So I keep these because I have a couple
of other handmade hooks that I've gotten off
of eBay over the years and it gives you the hook size
which is handy to have around.
I requested the Goncalo, I think that's how you say it,
wood, it's a really pretty wood
and it's a 6.5mm.
I got the 6.5, which is a USK.
Because I don't like any of my 6.5 hooks, the aluminum have like
a scratchy thing that catches my yarn, the plastic are slow and sticky,
so I'm hoping that this wood hook will really do the trick for me
and I really am hoping for a great K hook.
So, let's check it out, because I don't even know what this looks like.
I kind of requested a look, a certain topper,
but it was kind of more like, hey, just surprise me.
So, I can't wait to see what this actually looks like.
Alright, that is so pretty.
Spotted.
It's such a pretty grain.
The topper, I really wanted this pointy.
I really liked this pointy.
Topper. So I have the card from my die box.
You can see that this even is different from all of these shown.
So you can get like a very unique hook.
You can get one that looks like you said I definitely want this exact.
um topper or you can say oh i like
because i told her that i liked the pointy part that i saw on
like kind of this and then i said go ahead
and do whatever you want for the rest and
this is what i got and it's just so pretty
so it's very smooth there's no rough edges
and i love this part i love the thumb rest because any other
handcrafted ones that I have
or any other wood hooks that I have they just round it out so what
this helps to do is that when you're crocheting
if you have just a totally rounded hook
Sometimes when you go to make your stitches
or you move or whatever it may be you lose the place
of your hook and you have to re-line up
which way your hook is facing or if you pick it up you have
to look at you have to actually look at the hook
so that you can get it in the correct place.
This thumb rest it's always in the correct place
so whether you're a pencil or a knife
holder the hook is right where you need it just like
on a regular commercial type hook.
And the shaft looks great, it's nice and long,
and it has, I like the taper so that it will,
because I always push all the way to my shaft so it'll stop on there.
I'm going to get some, I have
a project right now that I'm using a K-hook on,
so I'm going to go and show you how this works with that project.
But I love...
The point on the head, it's not super pointy, but it's pointy enough
that I don't think I'm going to have problems getting into my stitches.
I also love how it's almost in line.
It's not supposed to be completely in line,
so this should be very easy to pull my stitches through.
I'm very, very happy with this. This is so beautiful.
I'm going to go get a project and start using it right now.
All right, I've got my project. Sorry, it's like super ginormous.
I'm taking up the whole frame, but you can see where I am working,
that this slides so easy, so much nicer than my aluminum that it,
um, there's the marking, it's weird,
the marking and the number is like right here,
I think it's a Susan Bates, but it has these kind of ridges on it,
so as you're crocheting, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me,
because it will catch the fibers and kind of go,
I'm starting to speak.
It's just, I can't stand it.
And then the plastic, I don't really like plastic hooks,
you know, they don't, they're
not, um, they get real sticky, they get real,
like, squeaky with your yarn, depending on
what yarn you're using.
So this wood is super smooth, it's sliding very easily,
I'm so happy that I got a K-hook
that I actually like now.
My thumb rest is keeping my actual stitches, you know, right, or my...
My hook is right where I need it, so when I start going,
I know exactly which way my hook is facing, so that is super helpful.
This is a really dense stitch, this is super bulky yarn,
but I want a K hook because I want really thick stitches.
So this is, um.
It's a project I'm making that I do not,
I'm not going to say exactly what it is yet.
You can check out my blog
and look for this yarn if you want to see what it's going to
turn out to be.
It should be up pretty soon,
but this is definitely going to be used for the rest of my project
because I am loving it.
So this is just one of the woods that they carry.
They carry so many different woods.
They carry white woods, dark woods.
Medium woods, all in between.
You can see these are all different colors.
These are all the different kinds of woods that they have.
The website of course shows them in color.
They come in a huge amount of sizes.
So depending on the wood and the type of hook that you get,
They have anywhere from 3.5mm is the smallest, and then it can go up
to, what I've seen on some of the woods, is 23mm, so that is like one
of those huge, chunky hooks that you use for that huge yarn
that's really popular right now, but some of the hooks, like, um...
There's one that's in the white wood
and it's a smaller hook so I think it's shorter for smaller
hands or for travel and that only goes up to six millimeters
so depending on what wood you're
choosing and what style of hook because they have like the baroness
or the queen like all very cool
names for the hooks it can reduce your size choice
but the smaller ones it's 3.5 to 6 millimeter
Usually the hooks that you're going to use for the most part,
the larger hooks,
Then you would use for usually special projects,
but I use a lot of super bulky weight yarn in a lot of my projects,
so the K hook was really important to me.
I'll probably eventually get the L and the M and the N,
because I use those a lot as well.
But such a cool hook, such a cool website.
I cannot wait to make lots of projects with this.
So I am heading out
so I can go make the rest of that project you just saw.
Head over to thebeequeencollection.com to enter to win the die box,
and to check out the hooks,
and go get one because they are very awesome.
Let me know if you have them.
I heard from one person already that has two and loves them.
But let me know if you have one, or if you're planning
to get one in the comments, and what you think about them.
Or tell me which one you like the best, which wood should I get next.
Tell me what you think I should get.
Alright, so thank you for watching!
