She's never voted before, but her friend has convinced her
that this time around it's important.
Today we're about to go vote. Let's go. Go blue.
If progressive Democrat Abdul El-Sayed beats
his Republican challenger Mike Rogers,
he could help his party gain control of the Senate.
Are you ready?
Ha ha ha ha!
I thought this one was pretty cool you know I'm a foodie myself
so to see him out doing something
as simple as baking a cake in the community I feel like
that definitely pushes me even more
to vote for this guy.
El Sayed's charmed Gen Z voters with his outreach on social media.
He stood out for his eloquence
when he was a student at the University of Michigan.
I can't respect someone that takes academics seriously.
We have the audacity to believe
that we can change this world.
At his alma mater there's a push to get young people to the polls.
El-Sayed's critical stance on U.S. policy
in the Middle East resonates with these students.
The conflict in Israel
and Palestine has had a direct impact on our elections here.
I think the more leftist we get,
the less we want to see our money leaving our pockets
and the more we want to see it here actually helping people.
Instead of dropping bombs on people.
If he's elected,
El-Sayed would be the United States' first Muslim senator.
Thank you.
Let me get you guys stickers as well.
We're a country built on immigrants
and built on so many different types of religions,
and we see so much representation everywhere.
But I feel like
The Muslim community hasn't been able to see
that and we are such a big part of America and we are
Americans. I think seeing Abdul in Senate would
be such an amazing thing and it would
inspire so many Muslims as well.
On this largely liberal campus, some are wary.
I feel like a lot of people want to vote for like Abdul
because you know everyone says like free
Medicare is like amazing like everyone gets
like premium like healthcare but like I always
question like the amount
of like taxes we're going to have to pay for that.
According to the latest Harvard poll over 60 percent
of young voters support the Democrats.
